Hi, He Scores ?
Just to add to the comment above, there are a couple of other issues with Glasgow - the image you've chosen for the infobox is the very next image in the article; it might be better to either choose a different image for the infobox or revert to the previous image. Related to that, the image caption is still the old caption ("View over Glasgow City Chambers"). I've left it as it is, as I don't know what image will eventually be used for the infobox, but can you fix it?

Thanks - the corrected infobox is fine.

Sure, I'll take a look at the Edinburgh infobox - might take a wee while as I'm sorting out a reference or two on the Scotland article...

Edinburgh Infobox Image edit

Sorry, taken a look at London and Edinburgh and there's nowt I can do, I'm afraid - the London image was created like that - it's one big (tall) image. What we'd need for the Edinburgh image was a portrait image (i.e. one that's tall, not wide), and with strong black lines separating the sections. Someone with some experience with Photoshop or GIMP could maybe knock something up, but it's outwith my powers I'm afraid... ;-)

Scotland's Coat of Arms edit

Yep. I ment to ask this and look into it. Where has the Scotland royal coat's of arms Gone?, but will they ever come back becuase to me the seal or Royal coats of arms are very inportant to the country article, but i dont find ths fair becuase England still has there one showing. I mean whats up with that?--He Scores ? (talk) 21:06, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Check the talk page - there's a long (and IMHO very dull!) discussion about it. Basically, there's some debate about what exactly is Scotland's coat of arms, and whether Scotland even has a coat of arms. To complicate things, while England still has the English arms on that article, Wales has removed the Welsh arms and some editors (myself included) would be quite happy to follow Wales' lead and permanently remove it from the Scotland article.

I appreciate your point, but the problem is - what is the correct coat of arms? There are a number of different possibilities, and the one that I think of as Scotland's coat of arms is not, in fact: it's the old coat of arms which hasn't been correct since 1603. Hence why I think just lose the thing entirely.

Glasgow, please preview edit

Hi

Can I ask you to please preview changes before you post them? You've made a series of very minor changes to the width of image, from 260px to 280px to 250px and back to 260px. This could easily be avoided simply by previewing your changes. Each time you make a minor change it gets listed on the watchlists of editors watching the article you've changed.

Related to the above, you've added then removed content from Glasgow. I foolishly reverted your deletion, not realising that you had added the content in the first place. Again, this could be avoided if you simply previewed your changed before submitting them.

You can change the settings in my preferences, so it will always preview an edit before you save it. Keeper of the Matrix (talk) 22:56, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
1. I haven't seen all the images you've added, so I don't know.
2. I'm not able to promise that the images you have added will be kept. Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, and - just as you replaced an image someone else had added with an image of your own choosing - there is every possibility that someone else will replace the image you added with their choice of image. This might happen because they prefer their image, because there is a consensus amongst many editors that your image was not good enough, or (hypothetically) if you were found to be a blocked user any edits you made might be reverted, including image additions.
3. I'm not an administrator. I'm a regular editor, and have no particular desire to become an administrator. As far as I can tell administrator get the power to work far harder, for far longer, and dealing with far more nonsense than regular editors. Administrators can block editors (for disruption, for creating alternate accounts in defiance of a block, etc) but their blocks are subject to review by other administrators, just like your edits - or my edits - are subject to review by other editors.

Glasgow, Coat of Arms edit

I'm not a big fan of civic coats of arms, so I'm the wrong person to ask. Cheers,  This flag once was red  23:10, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
