Leeds United A.F.C. edit

Regarding your edits to Leeds United A.F.C. and it's related pages. As much as I applaud your efforts to improve these articles there are a few problems.

Unfortunately copyrighted images are not allowed on Wikipedia unless free images cannot be obtained. Since all of the players you have uploaded pictures for are still alive then free images can be obtained. Unless you can prove that the images you have uploaded for Leeds players are your own work then these images will be deleted according to Wikipedia's policy on copyright.

The images of the Leeds kits you added to the main page will also be deleted and have been removed from the main page. Small graphical representations, and not actual images, are only allowed on club pages. The graphical representation of the club name is also not allowed by Wikipedia's policy on copyright. The clubs logo (being the badge) is already presented on the page thus the graphical version of the clubs name is not required.

I have also reverted your edits to add Wikilinks to the clubs sponsors and kit-makers. All of the links you added were to no-existent pages or pages which were un-related to the company in question, which are the reasons the links were not in-place before.

I hope this information is helpful to you in your future edits to the Wikipedia project.

Regards

Fair use rationale for Image:New Logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:New Logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Halifax Town A.F.C. edit

Hello again Harrisonstock.

The reason I have reverted the badge on the Halifax town article to the previous one displayed before your edits is that this is the badge displayed both on their shirt for this season (see here) and on their official site (see here). Since you have provided no proof that the cub have altered the badge to the one you have attempted to alter it to, or provided any source information, then the badge should stay as the one officially used by the club.

Regards

ChappyTC 18:26, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Quote from e-mail sent:

The shirt you showed me was the shirt of last season. This season they shirts have no white stripe accross the middle and the away shirt is yellow. On your page it says you also follow halifax, doesn't seem that way. Look on the clubs website and it will tell you about the badge change, the reason the crest is used on the site is because of a fans request to include both the creast and new badge in recognisation of the club, to keep a traditional and modern theme throughout the club.

You seem to enjoy changing edits i make, next time please get your facts right.

Regards

Unfortunately it isn't up to me to provide a source for what you are uploading to prove it isn't the club badge (although I have provided two sources to indicate it is the club badge, for which neither provide any indication as to the badge you have provided being the current badge) but it is up to you to be able to provide source information for contributions you make to wikipedia.
I would also point out that I do not enjoy reverting your edits, but that I am simply ensuring wikipedia's policies are used, and also that I am not trying to start an edit war with you. ChappyTC 19:07, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I only came across this discussion whilst trying to determine the best FU to use for the image in question. It seems to me that the best course of action would be to revert the current image to the old one and upload the new image separately. Why? So then you can add them both to the article with the new one in the infobox and the old one in the "History" section commenting on the fact that it was changed on such-and-such-a-date for this-reason, examples of this are in both the Leeds and Swindon Town articles. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Leeds United Font.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Leeds United Font.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:HalifaxTownAFC.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:HalifaxTownAFC.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:30, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:Leeds United badge.PNG edit

Thanks for uploading File:Leeds United badge.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image source problem with File:Lucky No. 13.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Lucky No. 13.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:59, 23 July 2022 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:59, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
