I appreciate the effort patrolers put in keeping wikipedia clean and orderly. I, however, believe that a page with links to articles about country-specific slavery information (history, current situation, impact on the culture...etc) is very expedient in enticing editors to target specific countries they are familiar with and/or specific countries they are inclined to research further. Given the fact that slavery is a worldwide phenomenon that have taken and still taking place in many parts of the globe, I find it strange that only a handful of countries are covered specifically. one possible reason is that the talk about and depiction of slavery in recent times have been dominated by the US case, which has overshadowed cases of the rest of the world. Just mention the word slave and a the image of a blackman in an American plantation jumps to most people's minds. I strongly believe that bringing the links together in one page would serve as a reminder to everybody that all countries deserve being addressed specifically thus countring the systemic bias in the subject. The page in its current form is by no means final. I am planning on expanding to a feel and look comparable to this page. Please let is be for while until it builds some momentum.Hakeem.gadi (talk) 11:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
