I started playing BattleMaster because I had seen the entry on here. I think someone had added it as another example of a text MMORPG and I checked out the article because of it and figured it sounded interesting. --Habap 14:54, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I am obsessed with completing a CEFEO OOB that includes their arrival and departure date during the First Indochina war. During my foolish quest I have picked up a small bit of knowledge and a bunch of books. I would enjoy assisting you in any Indochina war projects you may have. 9/11/06

It's 9/11 and I am set to leave for work within the hour. I will be driving past the Pentagon around 9:17 - four years, 364 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes after the attack. Yesterday, while visiting the memorial and gravesite for some of the 184 victims in Arlington National Cemetery, 4 military jets flew right over us, executing the missing man formation right overhead.... --Habap 12:14, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

No personal cars

I chuckled when reading the "no personal cars" at all. I doubt that Americans would be willing to give up the feeling of freedom that comes with car ownership. While people who live on Manhattan or in Tokyo may find owning a car a hindrance, someone out on Long Island or in Akron, Ohio or Detroit, Michigan would probably tell you that "you can have my car when you pry the keys from my cold, dead fingers." Similarly, I doubt Germans would give them up. Heck, Finns, Norwegians and Swedes would probably hate to lose one of the ways of getting around their countries too. The "no personal cars at all" is so pie-in-the-sky silly that I am tempted to remove it or slap a POV tag on this article. Well, someone who was 9 years old in 1903 couldn't have been piloting a DC-3 in 1928, since they hadn't been built yet. It would have been at best 1935, when the Douglas DC-3 first flew. Now, 1969 was 66 years after the Wright's flight, so our 75-year-old man might have a son born in 1930 (like the entire Apollo 11 crew), when he was 36. Of course, 75 years was longer than the average male lifespan in the US at the time (though my own grandfather was 4 in 1903 and died in 1983).

While I am certain there will be technology that enables it (as there has been for airplanes for some time), I cannot imagine everyone giving up control of their cars in the next 30 or 40 years. If you expand it to 65 years, well, that's beyond the expected lifetime of most people reading this.... So, I stand by my statement. Cat:ACW

We have been taking this parent cat out of articles as they are better served by subcats. For example, we replaced cat:ACW with cat:Ohio in the Civil War for Hundred Days Men. Please try not to use this parent cat where it has already been omitted. And feel free to join the Civil War Task Force for an overview of the "policies" and guidelines. Removal of Ryzom references

Curious as to why Ryzom was removed from the MMORPG listing. Thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Burnman (talk • contribs)

Since we already have examples of each of the facets, adding another example is not particularly useful. If we allow every game (including MANY independent games) to be added in every place in which it is an example of a facet of MMORPGs, then it stops being a readable article. In order to avoid showing favoritism, we stick with the first or the first couple examples added to the article to explain the facet and the regular editors tend to remove additional examples. Now, if there are aspects of the game that are unique (not in any other MMORPG), then we should add a sentence explaining the unique feature. Preferably, it would be first discussed on the talk page, so that we all know why it is being added and can ensure that the article still flows well. Your contributions are welcome, but there are many random people who want to replace existing examples with their own favorite game. --Habap 22:05, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

I see your point, though Ryzom's release did predate EQ2 and I believe WoW, and includes some features not found in other games. It continued in the vein of their breakthrough debut Destruction By Definition, but made it louder, harder and faster. Songs like "Hating Hate" and "DDT" owe more to 80s hardcore bands like Black Flag and Minor Threat than Operation Ivy.

Genres are rarely opinion... Take for instance:

Music from the Film More which reads: "mostly acoustic folk ballads, an unusual genre for Pink Floyd"

Nevermind which reads: "The album draws a lot of influence from punk rock and alternative rock, as well as other genres."

Blonde on Blonde which reads: "It is notable for injecting Dylan's brand of rock'n'roll, fully established on Highway 61 Revisited and heavily rooted in blues, with a more eclectic sound"

None of the these are considered POV. These are all popular albums and have been edited by countless editors. Describing a genre, unless contested, generally doesn't get a npov tag.

War Article Sizes

First off, Thank you for helping convince other people that the WWII article is too long. Secondly, would you an/or the Military History Wikiproject like to help, collectively? Or at least endorse my efforts? I think I could do it myself, but it would take awhile, and I don't know if I could manage it while dealing with everybody getting mad at me because they're too lazy to read an explanation on the talk page. 5th Marines and Iraq

The regimental headquarters is there and running the show but the battalions are rotating through. With the MAGTF concept any battalions can be plugged and placed. The command relationships remain the same. Hope this makes sense--Looper5920 23:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
