File source and copyright licensing problem with File:House from front autumn reds.jpg edit
Thanks for uploading File:House from front autumn reds.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. - Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from elsewhere without a formal copyright release. Assertion of permission to use material is not enough.
- Also, even if the copyright issue were resolved, the promotional tone of a company or personal website is likely to be quite unsuitable for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view. Wikipedia is not a noticeboard for the display of publicity material written for other purposes.
- Article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." - I could be wrong, but I don't think you quite understand the copyright problem. In academia, the use of large quotations appears to be OK. Here, it isn't. Direct quotes must be very short, and clearly marked as quotes. They are best avoided altogether unless there is a need to use the particular wording. Sources are for linking to, so that readers can verify information posted here. They are not to be quoted wholesale, even if attributed to the source. This is because of Wikipedia's licensing under CC-BY-SA 3.0 and the GFDL for reuse by anyone anywhere. Text that is not licensed this way should be not be imported into articles, and even close paraphrasing is best avoided. Peridon (talk) 20:18, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
