Hi, Thanks for your edits to Ali Pasha Sherif. It has been extremely difficult to find biographical information on him, other than from horse breeding web sites, which generally aren't the best for people's early history or anything they did other than breed horses. Do you happen to have a reference to a book or other source that you used for your information? It would be great if you could add it to the "references" section at the bottom of the article, along with the ones I used. Thanks! Montanabw(talk) 03:00, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your reply. It would be wonderful if someone could write or publish more material on Ali Pasha Sherif (or Aly Pasha). Per Wikipedia's verification guidelines, however, it is very difficult to have Original work published on wiki unless it is verified via other sources. However, the data on his family ancestry, career, and service in Egypt should be relatively easy to source based on some kind of official government records. I have been utterly unable to find much data on his government and military career to add to the article. And of course, how he made a living is of interest because he had to have money from SOMEWHERE because it is not cheap to raise horses and even more difficult to actually make a profit from horse breeding! But, quite literally, the only source materials in English appear to be based on what was known about him as a horse breeder, and that, of course, was by people such as the Blunts who met him late in life, who were European, and, however well-intentioned, did not have the whole picture. Lady Wentworth's book is based largely on her mother's accounts as well, though she may have had a few other sources. But anyway, anything you can add that helps provide source material would be very welcomed! Thanks again. Montanabw(talk) 00:14, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
