Conflict of interest policy

edit

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 01:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}} Ronz, why do you keep deleting my edit to business architecture? BizArchCommunity.com is the only free site on the internet for business architecture and is the only vendor neutral site. The definition has been vetted by well over 1500 real business architects, which is more than any other organizations. The OMG group for example is a group of 32 guys, I know I was there, mostly coming from the IT world. Also, How can I create a page on the role of the Business Architect? Thanks for your help Gsuddreth (talk) 02:39, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}} I posted a definition that has been openly vetted. I also posted reference to where the definiton comes from. Gsuddreth (talk) 02:44, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the removal of the definition for the reasons already noted above. The edit lacks context, it appears to be a form of advertising, you have a conflict of interest, but also, and most importantly, because copying the text as you have is a copyright infringement.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:54, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}} Thanks Fuhghettaboutit, I understand the copyright issues. But I am not sure how OMG which is an organization you must pay to be part of posts their definitions and links openly and posts links to their upcoming conferences that you must pay for. ThanksGsuddreth (talk) 03:07, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are you getting your questions answered? My main concern about your contribution to the article is that it's not a reliable source.
From what you're saying, the article probably has problems with the use of OMG. You should bring that up on the article talk page.
As for starting an article on the role of Business Architects, you might want to start it as a section of Business_architecture, or start a new article yourself. See Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation for a good overview of how to start a new article, though there's no need to use the request process there. --Ronz (talk) 16:39, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
