Redundant edit

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! Harris' page already has a list of films he worked in, that is his complete discography, that is enough! There is no need to include all songs, it is absolutely redundant, since you can find all these songs in the respective pages as well. This becomes way too long, its format is not apt, it is not properly edited (wikilinks are not all correctly disambiguated!) and also incomplete (what about all dubbed Telugu songs then??) You wont't find any other site of a composer in wikipedia that does have such a complete list of all songs, it's not needed at all! Singers/composers who have composed/sung more than a certain number of songs have composed/sung too many songs to list them all here, Wikipedia is not the right place for these über-long discography lists. Just imagine listing all song composed by Ilaiyaraaja or A. R. Rahman or all songs sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Chitra or Shreya Ghoshal! Please refrain from adding complete list of songs to that page again. I understand you're a big fan of him, you should probably open a fansite and add all songs there, here you can't! I hope you will understand now! Thank you! Johannes003 (talk) 11:28, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey sir, I thought you understood! You don't need to add such a complete list of all songs, neither on the main page nor in a separate page. No other composer has it, it is plain redundant, you can find all these track lists in the respective pages. Nobody need this!!!! Please stop this here, my friend!! It is enough! The filmography list on Harris' main page is absolutely enough!!!! Johannes003 (talk) 15:02, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I know about what can be kept and what should be removed. I care for all pages in wikipedia, but you are a very adamant hardcore fanatic who cares for only one person and are trying your best to promote him. You are comparing the wrong persons! Harris Jayaraj is a film composer, he composes for films, it's enough to list only the films he composed for in one page. No single composer has a full list of all song he composed in his entire career. You should compare to other film composers only! Ilaiyaraaja has composed 5000 songs, do you think it will be possible to list them all? The films he composed for are added in a separate page and that are over 800! You can't compare film composers to bands, man! Westlife is a band, no composers! They have made only a handful of songs. The discography page is edited wonderfully with lot of needed details and very well sourced. Westlife and all the other international artists have only that one page where everything is listed. In case, Harris, all songs are already added in all the respective film article pages. You just have copied and pasted them together in one page, which is absolutely not needed!!! You can't compare Indian film composers with international artists man! You are comparing with someone like Tanvi Shah who has sung not more than 20 songs, please compare with S. P. Balasubrahmanyam! SPB has sung 40000 songs, can you please create a separate page listing all songs that he has sung so far, can you? Please be practical, I have seen lot lof people like you, you don't need to attack me. Wikipedia is not the right place to include entire list of songs (if they are too much), it is overflowing! We have tried these lists several times and it was just not correct! Please don't be stubborn! Johannes003 (talk) 15:44, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have given you a long explanation why this is not needed. You have not responded me and are continuing your work. I request you abstain from doing this. That discography page is a compilation page of all respective pages, put together. No single page in wikipedia is a redundant page containing only information that have been put on other pages already. You can please do this in your fanpage, please not here! Johannes003 (talk) 16:10, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Do you think I am that foolish! Of course I know the difference between a filmography and a discography! Harris Jayaraj is a film composer, so he has to be credited in a filmography. He hasn't produced a single studio album or a single yet, so there is no need to create a separate page for discography only. If you want to add details about Harris' songs, do that in the respective film article pages please. All these songs are parts of film, these are soundtracks!!! If you want to make clear which songs in Thotti Jaya are by Harris, do that in that film page, please. What's so difficult in that? "international artists have one page that lists every songs, but remember there are also pages for every albums they do and these album pages too have the song listings in them." This is the point, my dear. Exactly that's it what I'm demanding from you. If you want to put details on the songs, please do that in the respective pages. All these songs are from different films and they are listed there. You can write there more details about the songs, this is plain redundant. Look how it done with A. R. Rahman's songs or Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs. There is no complete list of all songs, they are in the respective film pages only, where they belong, and editors have written more details in each of the pages. There is no sense in what you're doing, you are just repeating the tracklists, which is already added in all the pages. You don't compare discographies of bands and artists with filmographies by film composers, dude! You are not understanding this, man! Johannes003 (talk) 17:05, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

See you don't have to include songs in discography. Will you be able to do that for all of his films in the future. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:18, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
There is a consensus not to include songs even for singers. This is an encyclopaedia, not a fan site. --Commander (Ping Me) 17:45, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Pls stop edit warring. Instead use the talk page of the article --Commander (Ping Me) 18:48, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Adding list of songs doesn't make the article improve. If you really wanna improve the article you can try expanding the sections which are too short. --Commander (Ping Me) 10:52, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Harris Image edit

Hi. First let me make my reasons clear. I felt there are countless resources residing in wiki commons for longer time simply of no use. If placed on the respective english wiki article, atleast these images will be distributed or used outside wiki commons so that the purpose of its upload (in commons) will be meet, by going beyond to outside world, rather than hiding in commons. I do not find any other big reasons as you are citing it disturbs the overall look and it draws more attention. If you see more in general not only this article, but many other articles also will be the same state. So I beleive this should not stop in additing images or doing updates as part of improvement to the article. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 07:05, 28 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
