Buffyverse characters

Hi, I notice you've recently been contributing to a fair amount of Buffyverse characters. You are also making a fair amount of spelling mistakes in your contributions; they are fairly minor, like 'stenght' instead of 'strength' and 'mysthical' instead of 'mystical', but it would be great if you could please try to use correct spellings, or use a spellchecker. Also you are just changing the names of some characters, like Lindsey McDonald and Cyrus Vail. These are the names we are using on Wikipedia, please don't change them without at least discussing it with other people. Demon (Buffyverse) article

Hiya, I thought as the resident Buffyverse baddie expert you might be interested to know I started 'Demon (Buffyverse)' but it is in a very bare-bones' state. I agree that an article like this is needed in the tradition of articles Slayer (Buffyverse), Vampire (Buffyverse), Watcher (Buffyverse). These core four have a prominent role in the 'Buffyversenav' template as the whole of the 'Key Terminology' section. Starting the article I found it surprisingly difficult to clearly explain what a 'demon' is to a non-Buffyverse fan, but it is one of the key characteristics of the Buffyverse, so the article is actually quite important IMO. -- Paxomen 06:40, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Did you know that the Hellfire Club is a real entity? I noticed that you're listing fictional persons as members in a Category, which is incorrect. Hello. I noticed that you poorly edited the article Mastermind (Marvel comics supervillainess) in attempt to move the article. I must mention that you did not use the proper resources to move the data. Copying and pasting is a big "No, no." since it violates the GNU Free Documentation License. Hello from a main page regular

Recent vandal attacks on the main page where an 'interesting' picture has been snuck in via unprotected subparts of the main page have been annoying at the least - Yes it's true. It has been one or two lapses of concentration by admins who forgot to protect something that they placed on the front page templates. Admins are human, they do make mistakes. Everyone has been poked and reminded. I'm not saying that it won't happen again, but everything that should be done has.

However.

What should happen when such a vandal attacks? Within minutes someone with admin ability spots it, quietly reverts it and covers the cracks that the vandal oozed in via. The vandal is blocked, defeated and deflated, they move on.

What does happen when such a vandal attacks? Everyone, their dog, cat, hamster and rabbits swamp this talk page with "OMG!11!! I'M OFFENDED!! ARGH! ARGH! MY EYES WTF!" style messages of outrage and indignation. The vandal says "HAR HAR PWND! I EMS TEH 1337", posts several taunting messages about how good they are and revels in the afterglow of their nuclear attack.

Eventually, within minutes someone with admin ability spots it, reverts it and covers the cracks that the vandal oozed in via. The vandal is blocked and moves on with a self-satified smug smile and sticky underpants.

People. If you get all up in arms about it, you're feeding the vandal's ego. Just let it pass. It will be reverted within minutes. --Monotonehell 10:45, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your good faith edits on sorting categories (example): the magic word {{DEFAULTSORT}} that is used slightly above those categories actually takes care of sorting the characters by last name. –Pomte 05:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Slayer timeline

Hiya, I noticed some of the edits you made to the Buffyverse Slayer timeline regarding the status of some of the newer slayers (like this). Was this in the UK Buffy magazine, or the American one, and do you know which issue number? Thanks -- Paxomen 23:38, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

300 Edits

I was about to revert your edits in 300, which you hads marked as minor, until I realized you are a fairly new user. The marking of an edit as minor is usually reserved for spelling errors, or forgetting to sign your signature in discussions and whatnot. Anything more than that, and you run the risk of people thinking you're being deceptive. The tag at the beginning of the editing screen suggests that you take substantive changes to the Discussion page. As your words were qualifiers - very much a contentious issue, if you've noticed the discussion page. It bears consideration.
A last thing you might want to consider when editing the actual article is whether your edit is making the article as 'tight' as possible. When you add excess words where one or two will do, it can cause the article to bloat (clearly, not by themselves, but from a series of editors adding in little excesses, so they are all trimmed out).

"24" Merge-a-Palooza

I'm not going to deny, that article will become far too big if all of those characters are merged into it and will require splitting. However, I haven't said 'merge' to a character that was worthy of its article; all the ones that I agreed with are just plot summaries, which go against Wikipedia is not a plot summary and/or they aren't notable. We can't just give articles to any old characters, only the imporant ones that have a real impact on 24 as a whole, not just one season. asyndeton 11:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Looking through your contributions, I see that you have opposed many, if not all the mergers, with your reasoning being nothing other than 'X is a very notable/important character' and you are constantly saying that 'X COULD return and COULD be notable'. 24 mergers

I stand by all of the mergers I am proposing and only the lists of minor charachters will need splitting in to more managable sizes. At the moment it is as if a list has been split so finley that it is a disparity of information and articles for articles sake. The merges should go through as a lot of cruft must be removed and a clean up is long overdue. Just take a look at the House characters. The main character Gregory House is being considered for merging along with every single character from the show. A major character is a character with continual long lasting impact, thorugh a majority of the show. Majority of the show does not mean one or two seasons it means characters like jack and Kim and the Palmers. For the record, I stronly oppose most of the mergers too. I think together we can cancel out these guys by simply providing some references for character articles. Like I said to you before T smitts, Gregory House, the protagonist of House, was suggested for merging, along with the other characters, because notability was lacking; it failed but now only three of the 6 characters, that have been in three season and had a significant impact on the plot, have their own pages. The other three were merged. You would be laughed at and reported for two main reasons WP:POINT and WP:ILIKE you may also be done for WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT. The mergers are reasonable and with good solid basis. Thanks for uploading Image:Bringer.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
