Chart procession and succession edit

Hi, could I ask you not to add any more succession boxes to songs until this discussion has ended? Your edits may all have to be reverted. AnemoneProjectors 16:08, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've done now anyway. I just wanted to complete the 2010 UK No. 1 list which was incomplete with regard to the most recent ones and a few that had been missed along the way. I haven't seen a good argument yet for removing all this work which, for UK No. 1s, spans over a thousand articles (I haven't seen that many that have been missed). Release dates of albums edit

FYI - Determining release dates for albums based on when the album first charted is considered original research as you are not getting this information from reliable sources but basing it on your own method of calculation. Please use reliable sources when changing release dates. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 01:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I guess it does come under those original research criteria, but having a date which is very likely to be correct but derived is better than one that is incomplete or clearly inaccurate as was the case with those I've replaced. Obviously, a direct source is preferable and if one can be found, it should be used. But, that's going to be difficult for compilation albums that old and released in only one country. Most sources publish the date of the first Saturday after the album charted, rather than the release date, and this require a simple calculation based on chart knowledge; if the album was listed in that chart, it was clearly available at least as early as the Monday preceding that chart date (12 days earlier). Unless it didn't chart in its first week, that date is also the release date.

Year songs categories edit

You do not need to add year songs categories to articles that are already listed in the sub-category Year singles categories as you did to 15 Minutes of Shame because once if it is listed in a sub-category it is already under the hierarchy of the parent category. Aspects (talk) 05:48, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I didn't realise it was a sub-category and Wikipedia:WikiProject Songs#Categories gives the impression both are needed. Gnu andrew (talk) 05:51, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Category:Songs written by LMFAO edit

I have listed this category for deletion as songwriter categories are by songwriter, not band. If at some point there are articles for some or all members of the band I would wholeheartedly approve of the categories. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 19:42, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ok, wasn't aware of this but makes sense. Thanks.

Wiki Loves Pride 2014 edit

Hi Gnu. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. WikiProject Wikify: Current Backlog Reduction Plan edit

Hey, I noticed you marked yourself as a member of WikiProject Wikify and you are currently listed as active. I was wondering if you would be able to assist with our current backlog reduction plan. While traditional drives are more structured month-long sprints by WikiProject Wikify members, there is currently lacking activity within the project and in order to significantly reduce the incredible backlog, members are encouraged to review all articles marked with the Underlinked Template Message - {{underlinked}} - a list of which can be found here - to analyze the worthiness of the template message on the given article. Articles that have nothing to link or are have had wikilinks sufficiently added should have the template removed to clear the backlog and make it easier for editors to find articles in genuine need of wikification. This can be done by any editor; however, all editors should consider joining if they haven't done so already. Thank you!

Nomination of Now Dance 2007 (British series) for deletion edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Now Dance 2007 (British series) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Now Dance 2007 (British series) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

@InvadingInvader: Deleting Now Dance 2007 makes sense to me for the reasons mentioned. I've flagged the remaining two UK Now Dance entries - Now Dance 98 & The Very Best of Now Dance 2010 - for proposed deletion based on the consensus the 2007 removal already had. I'm not sure why this is not being done consistently across most of the compilations, to be honest. I created the 98 & 2007 ones when most NOW compilations had a page, but few have ever been noteworthy enough to deserve one and MusicBrainz would be a better repository for the track listing data.
