Appeal to the speedy deletion of "Emerson Elementary School (Oakland, California)" edit

I do not understand why an article about a currently existing school is unimportant. Many small elementary schools do indeed have Wiki pages, and I would like to create one for my daughter's school. I believe that once one is created, there will be quite a bit of content added by people who had a hand in the development of the school. External links have been added, verifying the existance of the school, and of the parent/teacher groups reliant on it.

The only thing I can see that may be in violation of the guidelines is the direct mention of living persons and their 'unsubstantiated' effects on the school. I can remove those details, but those details are verifiable, so I truly do not understand the reason for the removal. I would like to have the opportunity to hear what specifically is the issue with my entry as opposed to the other elementary school entries in Wikipedia.

Please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Whether or not one article exists has no bearing on other articles. You have said nothing about Emerson Elementary which makes it more than just any ordinary school. Has it won awards? Does it have famous alumni? You can write a couple of sentences about it in the article it's redirected to. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 18:55, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you can provide proof that the medalist went there, then yes, that might be enough to make the school notable. The Raiders partnership wouldn't, I'm afraid. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 20:50, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
