additions to Harold Hopkins

Thank-you for your welcome addition to this article. I have made a couple of slight changes which I trust you will approve. The shortening of the caption to remove a repeat of Harold's name. I would have preferred to keep the caption the same whilst removing the name above the image. However, I was unable to do so. (Is this header a Wiki-requirement ? If not and you agree and are able, then please amend for me). Harold did not actually work at the Royal Berk's Hospital, however he spent twenty years at Imperial - which I have reflected in my edit. I have made the fibre optics link more precise and added a reference to his ground breaking Aberation Theory. Do you have a particular reason for mentioning the Royal Berks? I am intending to add a reference concerning the new unit there which I understand is being named in his honour, and this might be an appropriate place to include some further details of his relations with the Hospital. Thanks again. Sonny Day (talk) 10:10, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

René Quillivic

Hi, I noticed that you stuck a message on my talk page about ‎René Quillivic, but could not be bothered to wait for more a few minutes before wasting your efforts on throwing templates around. Please read Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars before adding such verbiage in future. You may also wish to check all the other articles I have created. It is distracting and demotivating to have to remove template pollution while trying to create articles. You may consider these comments to be tetchy. However, you may also wish to consider how your platitudes appear to someone who has created as many article as I have. Paul B (talk) 23:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Octane logo small.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Octane logo small.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Transformer Read Only Storage

Please take a look at Category:Computing. It is somewhat organized, the only two articles in the category (besides yours!) actually belong there. Detail articles such as this one belong in subcategories, not at the top of the tree. Could you either use an appropriate subcategory or revert. Thanks tooold (talk) 02:21, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for taking care of it. Count me as one of the people who does not appreciate "HotCat" (the script you used for a category hint, I may not have remembered the exact name). That is, I think, just dumping articles somewhere for someone else to clean up. If the article's author isn't going to complete the article (and not categorizing is not completing), the article should just die.
Just in case I sound too much of a grump, Category:Application software has been a major dumping ground. Take a look at that category page and you'll see the outline I've constructed over the past several years so that people, people who look that is, can more easily locate application software categories. So while I complain, I've tried to make it easier in at least one case.
btw You can respond to comments on your own talk page, most people leaving comments click "watch". Thus conversations are kept intact. tooold (talk) 17:14, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks for the link to application software categories - very useful. I tend to agree with you about HotCat - I have just started using it, and although it is quick, I find it difficult to categorize articles accurately with this at present. Gilo1969 (talk) 23:42, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. I have corrected the article and re-posted the information to the page that I had marked hangon. I am still uncertain as to how to add website citations. I attempted to add them to my talk page but evidently they were not formatted correctly. What is the next step in getting the Dr. Jeffrey Raval article posted? Re: Dr. Jeffrey Raval

Please help. My posting, Dr. Raval, was marked for speedy deletion and I would like to follow the correct steps to reposting the information without blatant advertising. I believe I followed the steps correctly by marking the page hangon and my adding my comments to the article's talk page. Please let me know what else I need to do or what the next step in this process is. Unleaded Software (talk) 00:54, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

Hi there! I've been going through the New Pages log, particularly the back end of it. I've come across an article (Ryan schwartz) that you've added a tag to that hasn't been patrolled. I was wondering if you could make sure that you mark an article as patrolled before you tag it as then it won't show up on the list, which will save people patrolling an article that has already been looked at by an experienced editor like yourself.

Please accept my apologies if you are doing this and the software is lagging behind, or if you're just tagging articles that you're coming across from a different source that doesn't allow you to patrol them. Thanks in advance! ----Ged UK (talk) 23:40, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip off. I usually do exactly as you say; must have missed that one. Interestingly, the tag seems to have removed from that article by the author. Gilo1969 (talk) 00:22, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Dirty polock

Hi. This article does not meet the criteria A7 because its neither a real person nor an org. According to the page itself, its a mixed drink. Kindly remove the template and if you doubt it should be deleted, please set up an AFC or PROD. Thank you. --Efe (talk) 03:47, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

The article seems to have been deleted (for a different reason). Nevertheless, your point is taken. Gilo1969 (talk) 19:26, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Automatic patrolling of tagged pages at New Page patrol

Hi there. There is a suggestion to get a bot to patrol any New Page that an editor has tagged for CSD, AfD, etc. As someone who patrols a lot, your opinion is particularly welcomed. --GedUK  10:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

You have used a template to communicate with another human being. This means you associate another human being with a machine where mathematical codes and commands can replace direct and honest conversation. This may be construed as a personal attack. Further personal attacks may result in a Block.

For guidelines on specific types of behaviour, you may want to check out the criteria for common conversation techniques between sentient individuals. Using templates is unnecessarily impersonal and betrays a completely lack of personal skills. Further behaviour like this may result in blocks. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. BenjaminShumin (talk) 09:27, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

pashazade Timur Can

This person exists. It was my error that I made about him. He is a descendant of the Mamluk dynasty of Iraq and has an Ottoman princess in his family tree. But the title was not awarded from princess to her offspring. Thus, to derive its title Pashazade over the line of Hasan Pasha

DYK for David M. Bosworth

On October 14, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article David M. Bosworth, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

File copyright problem with File:Polypectomy.png

Thank you for uploading File:Polypectomy.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ZooFari 00:22, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Endoscopy unit

Thanks for your note Gilo1969. Regarding endoscopy units, I suppose books as secondary references would be a good way to start. I am away from my copies of Sleisenger and Fordtran and Yamada's textbook, but I wonder if they discuss the basics of an endoscopy unit? If I recall correctly, Greg Ginsberg's Clinical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy has an excellent description of the components of an endo unit in one of its first few chapters. Perhaps design articles such as the ASGE guideline on establishment of endo areas; also PMID 9083752, PMID 12180153 and others would be good from the primary literature? We can rely on guidelines for specific components of the endo unit (disinfection: ASGE and ESGE guidelines for example). The article could include discussion on open access endoscopy and on outside-of-hospital standalone units. I think it could be a neat one, and I have a few pictures of our endo unit also. I'm away travelling now but when I get back I'd like very much to work on it with you. -- Samir 07:35, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Re this article, which you tagged as a hoax. There was a State Governor of Veracruz with this name, which would give him sufficient notability to sustain an article. WP:MX have been informed of this article, and should be given a chance to improve it. I agree that the article as it stands probably is a hoax. It's creator is now indeffed as a vandalism only account. Mjroots (talk) 14:35, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Dental stuff!

Hi gilo, thanks for posting on my talk page: references would be good, I agree. Wikipedia definitely lacks good dental articles: the existing ones are a mess! Important areas within dentistry are really poorly covered: Endodontic files are used on tens of millions of patients per year at huge cost, but are not covered at all! Right now I am filling in some gaps in Endodontology which I hope one day will be taken up with more time to reference them properly. I figure right now, a bad article is better than no article at all, and wikipedians will improve them given time!

Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: Matthew Warner

Hello Gilo1969, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Matthew Warner) under a criterion different from the one your provided, which was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific to protect the encyclopedia, and the process is more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again! ϢereSpielChequers 01:52, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the note. If this is the article I'm thinking of, I read it more as a positive article than a negative BLP - I think it's all in the interpretation of what is "cool" and what is not. Cheers. Gilo ö 01:56, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

It's a bit of a pain really. The person's heart is in the right place, but he's going about it the wrong way. They are all notable as they are all former international rugby players, but he doesn't mention that, plus the info isn't his own, its copyedit. These articles will get completed, just not like this. Thanks for the contact though. FruitMonkey (talk) 10:08, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

It would have been useful to know that - he only tagged a couple that I saw as rugby players at all, and yes, they all look to be copy/paste from another source. Shame. Gilo ö 10:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Ofsted

Hi, I reverted your change to template:ofsted because this template is used to refer to Ofsted education reports, rather than their care reports. For example, it's used for that purpose by template:infobox UK school on a large number of school pages. To refer to Ofsted care reports, we'd need another template.
