Dear Gigla, do you happen by any chance to have a photo of Samtavisi Cathedral? I failed to find any image of it with the license suitable for Wikipedia. Thanks in advance, --KoberTalk 08:35, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, the term Abkhazians in its largest meaning may refer to Georgians as well as ethnic Abkhaz, but this meaning is considered (unfortunately) obsolete. In modern times, Georgians of Abkhazia identify themselves as Georgians, and Abkhaz as Abkhaz. However, I do agree with you that the true Abkhzians are an offshoot of the greater Colchian ethnos. I understand your reasoning, but the term Abkhazians changed its meaning over time. Sad but true. --KoberTalk 08:43, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Of course. I understand your point and agree with you, but the people whom we now call Abkhaz are ethnically and linguistically different from Georgians and cannot be classified as an ethnographic group. They used to be part of the Georgian cultural and political world, but Islamization and Russification significantly changed their orientation. As we all know, the name Abkhazian formerly referred to all inhabitants of Western Georgia, i.e. Colchis, but then narrowed to denote a single ethnic group (Apswa). Best, --KoberTalk 08:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't live in Abkhazia so I can't comment for them but I would rather use books of reliable scholars (Strabo, Javakhishvili, etc.) about Abkhazians rather than original research and modern political literature. Giglia 09:30, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for the image. Cheers, KoberTalk 09:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Poti Cathedral edit

Good job, Gigla. I found a vintage photo of the cathedral and added it to the article. Best, --KoberTalk 17:18, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:Georgians edit

I basically agree with you but let's have everything as it is now because the article itself is in a very poor condition and the introduction is by far the only portion which contains a stable and readable prose. I think we should first expand and improve the main text and then shorten the intro. I agree with you that it is too large. Btw, "Sub-ethnic communities" does not mean that Mergels and Svans are ethnically different, but refers to them being a subdivision within the Georgian ethnos. All the best, and thanks for your efforts to improve the Georgia-related topics. --KoberTalk 04:37, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

No worries, we'll fix it. Giglia (talk) 03:10, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Rustavi2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Image copyright problem with File:CourierRustavi2.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:CourierRustavi2.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Image source problem with File:GeorgianWrestling.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:GeorgianWrestling.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:41, 17 June 2012 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:41, 17 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
