Hey George edit

I just dropped by to say hi. For some reason my editing thing wont sign anymore? I prefer to use the flag thing you gave me, but its not always possible. Are you an Administrator yet. You were really helpful to me. Can I help to advocate for you to be named an Administrator if you are not yet one. Drop by User:Merlinus My Talk, and let me know will you?     File:Peace Sign 2.svg Merlinus (talk)--merlinus 19:55, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean when you said "For some reason my editing thing wont sign anymore?". Does it mean you can't use your signature? --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 23:00, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion, it's too soon for an RfA nom. —       nathanrdotcom (TCW) 00:13, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion, it is waaaay too soon. I am totally not ready to go through the process of an RFA and to be an admin. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 00:16, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Admin? edit

Did not mean to put you on the spot. I did not know if you had been in Wikipedia 5 months or 5 years. Is it impolite to ask is someone is an Admin or such questions? Reguardless, I could use a little advise from time if you would not mind? --01:31, 3 May 2006 (UTC)    File:Peace Sign 2.svg Merlinus (talk)--merlinus

I was not offended or anything. It is ok to ask someone if they are an admin. My comment above was a reply to nathanrdotcom's comment. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 01:37, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

RFA congrats edit

Thanks, but I'm afraid that the Wikipedia RFA process doesn't go based on majority; you have to have 75% or so percent to be given the tools. I'm at a 67% rating. Unless the b-crat is really, really kind to me, I doubt I'll get in this time. But thanks anyway! Oh, and about your pic; I'll have it ready really soon, just a bit caught up in schoolwork. Dear GeorgeMoney,

Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. Did you remove my cat picture from the cat article? If so why? Thank's, from George M.Miller 19:36, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

You replaced it with another one. If you were going to put it in, you shouldn't replace it, and you should put it on the talk page first. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 22:43, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why isn't my picture 'perfectly good'? Why do you believe it's your place to remove my picture? Who says that you must post a request before adding new pictures? That one's news to me!Miller 13:18, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
You removed another picture, so you could put yours in. You need the community to decide if they want your picture. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 14:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Signature edit

Don't blame me :(. Some people were complaining that it showed "signs of immaturity" and was "too long", so this is my attempt to come to an agreement. MoppEr Speak! 00:39, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I really don't know why people think that "your signature makes you immature", or "how many lines your sig takes up is bad". My sig takes up many lines. Also, I don't know why in your RfA, people were talking about "you don't have enough Main Namespace edits". Everything on Wikipedia is all linked to articles in the main namespace. For example, if people have nice userpages, then new editors will stay and edit articles. If you edit user talk pages, you warn them for vandalism of articles. Categories help categorize articles. Wikipedia namespace things such as WikiProjects all want to help articles. What I am trying to say is that everything on wikipedia is related to articles, and that's all that matters. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 00:50, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
When you mention that, please reduce it. Five lines it too much. Thanks! Computerjoe's talk 19:02, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

autoblocks edit

Unfortunately, Wikipedia software automatically blocks everyone using a particular IP address whenever any other user using that IP address is blocked. There's no way to turn off autoblocks and no way to give immunity to reputable established users, and no way of knowing in advance what ISP or IP address a given user is using or how many other users might be affected by a block of that user. Usually, autoblocks expire after not too long. -- Curps 06:47, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I thought the admins did it on purpose until I read the article. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 06:53, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism warning "2". (Not a vandalism warning) edit

Hi,

I have corrected your warning to say it was the first warning, if you had taken the time to read the message left on my talk page before titled "Vandalising" you would have noticed that it is infact NOT a vandalism warning. It is a message from Sceptre who I accused of vandalizing my userpage saying that he believes it is not considered vandalism, and because he's an admin he feels he can do whatever.

Secondly your message

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to User:HighwayCello. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox.

continues to show you do not read things carefully enough. My edit summary was

"sorry to vandalize, but I came accross your page and Pokemon due suck"

I already knew far-right-extremists like yourself consider this vandalism, but as I said in the summary I felt it was justified.

In conclusion you should read more, and write less. Preferabley you should do the reading before the writing.

Good day,

--The Mad Bomber 07:36, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

It was still vandalism, no matter what your edit summary says. And you shouldn't call people "far-right-extremists". Please see WP:NPA --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 07:38, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Script request edit

Hi GeorgeMoney. I made a quick script that changes the "edit this page" tab to say only "edit".

addOnloadHook( function() {
	document.getElementById( "ca-edit" ).firstChild.innerHTML = "edit";
} );

Also, I don't mean to be a dick, but your signature is gigantic. Would you consider revising it so that it's (at least) under 150 characters? Having such a big signature really mucks up the wiki code. Thanks. ~MDD4696 02:55, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I will make a poll on who thinks I should change my signature. And thanks for the script. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 03:01, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why not just put in the template {{<includeonly>SUBST:</includeonly>PAGENAME}}. Then it automatically SUBST's it in the user talk page, but not in the template itself. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 06:09, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I found this signature page while browsing your signature poll. Just a friendly reminder that you shouldn't use transclusion for signatures; it doesn't seem like you use it often, but I just wanted to make sure you knew. Ral315 (talk) 06:04, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't use transclusions. I use put the formatting in my preferences. The only time I use it as a template is when it would be too many lines to SUBST it. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 06:08, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sandbox edit

You're welcomed to use the Sandbox, but please don't keep putting Nathanrdotcom's user page there. Other people may also want to use the Sandbox and by doing so, it may confuse them should they need to test their edits. Also, the Sandbox is not meant as a mirror to one's user page. Thanks.G.He 21:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Quote form the sandbox Welcome to the Wikipedia Sandbox! This page allows you to carry out experiments. I was doing some experiments. I have the right to do anything to the sandbox. How do you know I wasn't just experimenting with mirroring pages? It also says Content will not stay permanently; this page is automatically cleaned every 12 hours.. So, if it won't stay permanently, then why do you care? It doesn't matter what kind of experiment I do, that's my business.
Look at this edit where somebody copied an article into the sandbox; nobody got confused. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 21:29, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
About the cleaned every 12 hours: The script seems to be currently malfunctioning. Therefore, the reset won't work for users who wish to start with a clean Sandbox. Also, if you wish to do that type of testing, at least leave the header with the instructions.G.He 22:05, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why not just have a template with that big code, then use . --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 17:41, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure what you mean... what does "" do?... That big code is a template... I'm farily certain I've done everything possible to shorten my sig length. It has to take the date from User:Xolatron/SW date and subst it in... which is a very complicated process... involving User:Xolatron/subst SW date. To see how my sig is rendered behind the scenes, see User:Xolatron/Signature. – Xolatron 22:14, 6 Telona 2006 (7 May)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3 edit

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!

  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Your most recent template. edit

I don't think I can support your most recent creation being copied into template space.

The template space should be reserved for more useful stuff (userboxes, warnings, math, article templates, etc) and not spoofs.

I'm not going to take this to TfD, but just please consider what I've said. Thanks. —       nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 04:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, if someone nominates it for a TfD , then I'll vote delete. After a year and it has not been deleted, and it has been in use by many people, then I'll leave it. But, you're right. It shouldn't be in the template namespace. --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 05:14, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi GeorgeMoney, I just noticed that on the 29th April, you created a page in my Userspace called User:Condem/Sig without my permission. Please don't make pages in other people's userspace without them asking you too - I'll have to get it speedied. ConDemTalk 23:46, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll just move it to User:GeorgeMoney/Condem/Sig --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 23:47, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for moving it, but it's still left a redirect in my userspace, which I'm getting speedied. And I'm not sure I'm too happy about you having a page in your userspace which has my signature in, since the only thing you could use it for, really, is to add it to things without my knowledge (as you did to General Eisnhower's page.) This is also not allowed - if I want to put my sig somewhere, I will, and I'd rather you didn't do it for me without telling me. ConDemTalk 23:51, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
What did I do to General Eisenhower? --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 23:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
You added my sig, using the page you created in my userspace, to General Eisenhower's friends list, which appears on his main userpage. See this diff: [1] ConDemTalk 00:00, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
He asked me to help him with that. --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 00:02, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
He may have asked you to do it, but that doesn't mean you should. If the General wants people to add themselves as his friends, they can (and I have replaced the link to my sig page with my actual signature). Adding people as his friends without their knowledge isn't right, especially if it involves making pages in their userspace without their permission! ConDemTalk 00:05, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Look, I don't want to get into a fight here. I made that a long time ago. Can we just forget about this whole thing and be friends? --GeorgeMoneyTalk Contribs 00:09, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, it was only 9 days ago. But of course we can be friends, I just wanted to make sure you understood that many users don't like people adding their names to pages, or creating pages in their userspace, without their permission or knowledge. I'd really appreciate it if you don't use my sig again... As I said, I've replaced my name on General Eisenhower's page, so nothing's changed over there, don't worry! ConDemTalk 00:19, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
9 days for you is a long time for me. I have alot of stuff going on in real life (e.g. exams), so please can we forget about this and move on. Re: Image:Main_Page_Firefox_2.jpg edit

I have some questions about your browser's screenshot:

  • How did you get the rounded corners (in the page and in all the tabs)?
  • How did you get your IP address displayed on the bottom of your browser?

Thanks. —       nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 23:14, 12 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

First of all, that's noy my IP address, that's Wikipedia's. It is an extention for firefox that shows the IP for every website I visit. The extension is called "show IP" and is located here. Secondly, to round your corners, add the following to your monobook.css:
/* make a few corners round, only supported by moz/firefox/other gecko browsers for now */
#p-cactions ul li, #p-cactions ul li a {
  -moz-border-radius-topleft: 1em;
  -moz-border-radius-topright: 1em;
}
#content {
  -moz-border-radius-topleft: 1em;
  -moz-border-radius-bottomleft: 1em;
}
div.pBody {
  -moz-border-radius-topright: 1em;
  -moz-border-radius-bottomright: 1em;
}

Hope that answers your questions. --GeorgeMoney T·C 01:33, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ah. Well I found one that's called MyIP that does what I thought :p Thanks.
As for the rounded corners, I'll see if that works. ..and it works. What about the rounded corners on Firefox tabs? Thanks. —       nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 01:43, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
The rounded tabs are from a special theme called SphereGnome located at http://www.geocities.com/edhume/ . It also can be found at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/166/ .--GeorgeMoney T·C 01:50, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
That might conflict with the one I have. Too bad I'm not resourceful enough to edit the theme I have. Oh well, I might alternate between the two. Thanks. —       nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 03:36, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Wow, that SphereGnome theme is a little bright and hard on the eyes :( —       nathanrdotcom (Got something to say? Say it.) 04:24, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
It was a little hard on my eyes too at first, but I got used to it.--GeorgeMoney T·C 04:30, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Karmafist edit

I may update it when I get a chance. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Karmafist is coming back. If he does, there'll be more reason to spend time on that page.

Why did you change your sig? Was it too long? Cuz I feel kind of guilty now with this long string of code... --> TheJabberwʘck 03:33, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I changed it, because of this --GeorgeMoney T· C 04:24, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Userpage edit

Oh, I'm not done yet by any means. Just trying to see if I can get the darn things to take up the whole width of the page, and more. Mopper Speak! 03:42, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

You really should ask nathanrdotcom, because he was the one who made it. I copied this post to his page. --GeorgeMoney T·C 21:53, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is weird. If you still have the reply saved, would you send it to . Maybe that one will work.--GeorgeMoney T·C 07:09, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Wierd indeed. Basically, I just wanted to confront the user gently and explain. I also forwarded it to a few other people involved in it, but only them, so don't worry. Mopper Speak! 07:11, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
You can forward it to anybody as long as it's not the user. --GeorgeMoney T·C 07:13, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

So you're aware... yes, the user did report true vandalism—that already had been dealt with. Reread that user's last paragraph, though, and you'll see that was a sockpuppet of the vandal. RadioKirk talk to me 04:48, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sorry. I didn't read that last paragraph. But, I only reverted to the revision by laserchalenge once. All of the other revisions that Rory096 reverted were not mine. --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:50, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
