If this comes from Wikiquote, why did you slam the copyvio tag on this page? A reference would be appreciated, but that isn't a copyright violation. --Robert Horning (talk) 02:53, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

I did not put the tag on it was JamesBWatson. Once the tag is on it should not be removed, it says clearly on the tag that any argument for keeping the article should be made on this talkpage. So when Genjix removed the tag I replaced it and placed his argument about wikiquote above. I don't know whether the reference to wikiquote is sufficient so I don't know how Genjix can be so sure that it is. Polargeo (talk) 07:07, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

As noted at the listing at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2010 December 17, every Wikimedia Foundation project is permitted to set an exemption doctrine within Foundation governance; this page very clearly failed the exemption doctrine on Wikipedia: WP:NFC permits brief excerpts of copyrighted text used for good reason. Some of the excerpts are brief, but many are not. I zeroed in on one (which may or may not the longest) at 271 words, which by itself violates Wikiquote:Wikiquote:Limits on quotations. From one book alone, there are over 800 words quoted. Less than half of this taken from a 500 page book was found to be a copyright violation in Harper & Row v. Nation Enterprises. I'll tag the original of this for review on Wikiquote, but the bottom line for Wikipedia is that this use of non-free content is not permitted by our policies. --Moonriddengirl ^(talk) 15:36, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
