Hey Geg edit

This is Jay, I'm the one that created the Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack CD Page. You keep changing the tracklist and description from Simple and Clean, to Hikari. I own the CD (the American Version) and on the back it says Simple and Clean on those two tracks, it does say Hikari on Disc 1, track 2: "Hikari - Kingdom Orchestra Instrumental Version" and on Disc 2, track 23 "Hikari - Kingdom Hearts Instrumental Version". The reason that you probably think that it is supposed to be Hikari, is that the Japanese version of Simple and Clean is called Hikari. But only in Japan. I think the Japanese and/or European Versions say Hikari on the back of them, but this is the American Version of Wikipedia, and I think that we should put the American Version info on the American page, and put the Japanese and/or European Versions info on the Japanese/European versions of Wikipedia. I really want to sort this out without having a battle of us changing the article back and forth every day. Please respond on the very top of my User Page, Thank You. Hi Geg/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 15:17, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

Yu-Gi-OH specials edit

The yu-Gi-Oh specials (episode 160-161) did have episode titles

ex: スペシャル(第160~161話) 立ち上がれ遊戯!負けるな城之内!スペシャル 「羽蛾&竜崎 魂を賭けたW決闘(デュエル)」

Rise up Yugi! Stand up Joey Special 161 'Haga and Ryusaki Double Duel of Souls 160

and episode (167-168)

ex: スペシャル(第167~168話)

闘え!海馬!決死の空中大脱出スペシャル 168 「天空の要塞 ジグラート」 167

Fight! Kabia! Escape from the Crucial Sky Battle Special 'Air Fortress Ziggurat'

So I think episode 161 and episode 168 souldn't boe (untitled)

Please try not to bite the newbies, no matter how annoying they may be. Sonic Mew | talk to me 19:55, July 23, 2005 (UTC)

EPISODE IMAGES edit

Jsmith added some images on The Ceremonial Battle of Yu-Gi-OH, do we need them??

Zorc edit

I researched that the spelling of Zorc is only in the Shadow Game Yu-Gi-Oh!, Vol. 7 of the Monster World series so maybe this Jsmith is getting it confused with the Monster World Zorc and the Memory Zork? Also Zork is the Japanese spelling.

To answer your question, the Memory Zork is still spelled Zorc in the English manga. Check out Shonen Jump or the Millennium World graphic novel to find out. In the chapter 9 of Millennium World, Thief King Bakura calls him the "Evil God Zorc Necrophades". And yes, though an official romanized version of Zork's name was never given in the Japanese version, "Zork" is most likely what Takahashi was going for, probably a reference to the computer game Zork. However, if you'll notice, everything around here uses the official English manga spelling for everything, which is why Jonouchi's name is spelled as "Jonouchi" instead of as "Jounouchi", which is a more popular fan spelling. Same reason why Malik's name is always "Marik". Though I agree that "Zork" is most likely what Takahashi wanted it to be, there's no proof of that, and all we really have to go by is the English manga's spelling, which is "Zorc". Geg

IMAGEs edit

Why did you delete the images on The Ceremonial Battle know that page looks so plan....Jsmith

Having a bunch of seemingly randomly placed images at the end of the article felt pretty pointless. I know it does look pretty bare, but none of the other story arc pages have all those pictures, so why should this one? But if you haven't already, I'll go ahead and put back up that last picture. --Geg 15:03, 26 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ok, but may we keep the key episodes (just the list) -Jsmith

Sure. Also, what exactly did you do to the page? According to the history, you were the first person to edit the page, and you tried moving it to the Ceremonial Duel, but now it's back to Ceremonial Battle. Which would be correct, by the way. Tatakai no Gi = Ceremonial Battle. --Geg 15:49, 26 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

episode title of 213 edit

The episode title of 213 is: The Countdown to the Revival of the Evil God it is not Countdown to Evil God Revival, which does not make sense try google it which as nothing about Yugioh, and try to google 'Yu-Gi-Oh The Countdown to the Revival of the Evil God'

It makes perfect sense. You're just not trying hard enough. Plus "Countdown to the Revival of the Evil God" is way too bulky. Geg

Regarding Rishid/Odion edit

I heard they did reveal his U.S. manga name in the U.S. manga.. isn't there a preview image in the latest chapter? WhisperToMe 23:07, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Hmm, I dunno. I don't get Shonen Jump, but I didn't think they were that far along with the Millennium World thing. Geg 23:34, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • I meant Volume 8 - Someone on a Shaman King forum told me about it. - Millennium World has one Volume released. WhisperToMe 23:34, 16 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Hmmm... all right. I'll check it out when I get it tomorrow. Seriously hoping it's not true though. I understand Marik instead of Malik and completely agree with Ishizu instead of Isis, but keeping the name Odion instead of his drastically different Japanese name would just be awful. Geg 00:33, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • In that case, let's wait around for the volume which has Rishid :) WhisperToMe 23:07, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Kotsuzuka edit

Hi! Do you know if the furigana for the Japanese editions of YGO actually says "Kotsuzuka"? Or does it say "Kozuka"? WhisperToMe 23:34, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Eh, I have no idea what furigana is. Is that the characters used to spell the name? If so, I dunno. All I know is that his name is supposed to be pronounced "Kotsuzuka". Geg 23:37, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Furigana are ruby characters next to Kanji that show the pronunciation of the kanji. WhisperToMe 18:08, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Championship

  • Pretty good, actually. The only thing is that we don't know if they're actually gonna call it "Grand Championship" instead of "KC Grand Prix" in the actual show, since "Grand Championship" is a subtitle. I'll change it if we need to once it airs next saturday. Geg 16:44, 21 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Regarding browser issues edit

"I don't really know why I'm asking you this, for some reason, the Japanese characters don't work for me on Wikipedia anymore. They work on all the other sites I go to, but they just appear as those little boxes on Wikipedia. Do you have the same problem here, or is it just my computer? Geg 19:20, 30 August 2005 (UTC)"

I do not currently have a problem viewing them. Are you using a different browser to view them? WhisperToMe 21:53, 30 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

yugioh memory saga edit

will 4kids dub the memory saga? Many people think they will do to YGO the way they did with Sailormoon, not show that season because of the massive amounts of edits that need to be done. Jsmith

  • I'm almost positive they will. Like, on www.kidswb.com they have a little flash video with several short clips of the Egyptian characters. Geg 14:34, 31 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Odion edit

The latest Shonen Jump uses "Odion" in the sections describing the manga. WhisperToMe 01:52, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Damn. Stupid Viz. <_< Geg 16:34, 2 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Viz recently used "Hao Asakura" in Shaman King, so I guess names that are not Japanese, Chinese, or Korean are much more likely to be dub names. WhisperToMe 00:52, 5 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Atem(u) edit

The heiroglyphs spell "Atemu":

proof

Have 4Kids done it again, or is there another reason?

  • For the time being, we're using Atem for his name. Unless Viz uses "Atemu" instead of Atem, we we'll be keeping it the way it is. "Atem" has more historical holding, anyway. It's another name for the god Atum. While I have seen a few sites using "Atemu" in an actual historical and Egyptian mythological sense, it's VERY rare. For the sake of arguement, the heiroglyphics on the cartouche spelling "Atemu" could be explained simply by Takahashi-san's lack of knowledge of Romanized spellings. In other terms, while "Atem" is the more historically accurate, the Japanese katakana spell "a-te-mu", so it could have made more sense in his mind to add in the "u" to the heiroglyphics. Yu-Gi-OH specials edit

If episodes 160-161 and 167-168 have official episode titles then why aren't your episode titles the same on the TV-tokyo website?

official The Runaway Train Duel Power-Up Deck! Haga & Ryuzaki The Sky Fortress Ziggurat The Shadow of Dartz Creeps Near

  • The official episode titles and those from the official website are different because the official website is based off the TV version only. Meaning they use the titles of the episodes in the way they aired on TV, which is why the specials are recorded under a single episode title. Regarding GX characters again edit

The Japanese GX page has characters the English version doesn't have, e.g. SAL/Wheeler... I do not see why the "one-time characters" shouldn't be included. WhisperToMe 01:56, 10 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • I just don't see why they should. If you really want to include them, just create a different page for them like with the other YGO characters. Geg 01:59, 10 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

By the way, do you know what Mitsuru Ayanokouji's dub name is? Also, I have heard of this character named "Tory", but I don't know who he is supposed to be in the Japanese version. WhisperToMe 02:49, 12 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Deck Lists edit

It is becoming steadily annoying changing Deck Lists back after various people (most often anonymous users) add extra material to it (their stats, description, etc.) Should we set up some sort of notice? As I am new to Wikipedia I am not aware about how such a thing would be implemented. My thanks. Also, in the Ed Phoenix section, is it right to say that he has the Elemental Heroes Rampart Blaster, Wildedge, and Thunder Giant? Although it would seem he is capable of summoning them, they are never seen in the anime currently. Someone has already done so and I would like your opinion on the matter. Sephiroth BCR 22:14 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Regarding the article "Yu-Gi-Oh! Volume 3" edit

Request for edit summary edit

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 49% for major edits and 31% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 00:01, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would love your help. edit

I know you are interested in christianity, and I recently started a new wiki over at wikicities which is on the subject of christianity. Christian Knowledge Base is the site.

The goal is to have a knowledgebase on christianity from a distinctly "C(hristian)POV" rather than the NPOV. It is not meant to be a mere Christian Encyclopedia, but to foster a real sense of community. I'd like to include things like current events, news, stories, and anything that would add to both an understanding of Christianity, but also its enjoyment. I'm looking for help to build a resource that could really enrich the lives of Christians.

I know you are busy but I am actively seeking new sysops/admins to help me build this site up, and I would be positively thrilled if you could contribute in any capacity whatsoever. nsandwich 05:51, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Keira Knightley edit

"And finance portal Motley Fool has an article on Disney and the imminent Kingdom Hearts II release, featuring the voice of Keira as Elizabeth Swann." (Keiraweb.com)

Well, according to what the fansite is saying, they got that information behind Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann from the article at Motley Fool. However, it does not state anywhere in the article IN Motley Fool that she is voicing Elizabeth Swann.

Kingdom Hearts II is only mentioned in the first four paragraphs in the first section. Keira Knightley's name is mentioned in the sixth paragraph of the third section, Keeping the teens talking.

"And, yes, speaking of Pirates, the highly attractive trio of Keira Knightly, Johnny Depp, and Orlando Bloom grace the cover of Disney's latest annual report in full pirate regalia." (Motley Fool).

I do think Keira Knightley, Johnny Deep and Orlando Bloom will be voicing their respective characters, but I think the staff over at KeiraWeb.com misread the article. —Mirlen 23:55, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

About manga scans edit

Hey Geg. Do you want to scan your Yu-Gi-Oh! manga? We can put in pictures of minor characters in the articles. WhisperToMe 23:42, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would if my scanner was working/running correctly at the moment. I think part of it has to do with how old and run down my computer is, so I may need to wait until I get a new computer for college before I can get my scanner working right. Geg 00:01, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ed Phoenix's dub name edit

Regarding Asuka's name edit

"One edition of the U.S. Shonen Jump magazine rendered her Japanese first name as "Aska". "

By the way, "Aska" isn't that unusual of a rendering of her given name. The name is pronounced as "As-ka" anyway, so some non-standard romanizations render her name as "Aska". I bet VIZ would have put "Alexis", though. Keep in mind this is not the YGO GX manga they are talking about! This was of a video game. I bet they will use the dub names if they do translate the GX manga. WhisperToMe 04:01, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

My Akatsuki edits edit

I noticed you reverted my formatting on the Naruto Akatsuki article. Why did you do that? My version used wiki syntax, not HTML, per the MoS:

"Use the simplest markup to display information in a useful and comprehensible way. Markup may appear differently in different browsers. Use HTML and CSS markup sparingly and only with good reason. Minimizing markup in entries allows easier editing."

--maru (talk) contribs 02:43, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

It just seemed to make the article even messier-looking. It made certain paragraphs completely bold with other paragraphs normal. Disorienting was a good word for it, I guess. Geg 03:01, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Akatsuki members edit

Sasori IS the short guy in the picture, and he's standing next to Itachi on the far side of the circle. It goes like this:

          Itachi Sasori
    Giant Unknown
  Kisame Zetsu
      Unknown Leader

           Seen from here

Going clock-wise, it's Kisame, Giant, Itachi, Sasori, Unknown, Zetsu, Leader, Unknown. I'm not exactly sure how you are reading the picture, but trust me, this is the proper way. Compare everyone's heights. Sasori is short but he does reach higher than Leader's kneecaps. So, again, stop messing with the order. -Grrblt

Yeah, your picture is correct. Perhaps we should submit something like that edited picture instead, to avoid further confusion. The original picture is at the top of the page anyway. Grrblt 08:45, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edits you don't like edit

Hey Geg, I think maybe you should be a little more careful about making edits to things that you just don't agree with, esp if it's factual, accurate information. If you don't like how it's phrased, go ahead and fix it instead of just deleting it. The Whole point of the wikipedia is to get all available accurate information about a topic and not just things you "don't like" or "don't think should be there". After all, the whole point I was making one edit about the "subtitle" in Yu-Gi-Oh! was because I was having a conversation with a friend that thought there was a seperate part of the series because of the "promo" titles. Had suggested they come here to look it up, they didn't find the info and came back to me about it. So I did my own research and found it out. MANY TV shows have the "Special" episode information, similar to the "story arcs", but only groups of episodes. Maybe instead of just limiting it to the Ending promo subtitles, it should be elaborated to include more instead of being deleted totally.

Also, I had went through the effort in adding the free cards given out when the YGO movie was premiered, and you decided to delete that too. This isn't "extra" information, but actually valid usable info.

It isn't YOUR page, we all would like to contribute to the service. Errors of any type should of course be modified or removed, but valid usable info should not be, esp if it is verifiable.

I understand you are a big fan of some subjects and would like to show your knowledge, that's great! But don't take it upon yourself to say what someone else added is wrong just because you "don't like it".

It is not good to have an "edit war" and possibilty of getting an article locked because it's going back and forth adding and removing the same info over and over when it should be there.

Lets all co-exist here and make wikipedia as comprehensive as possible. (and just as a note, if you think there is alot of "extra" information in the YGO article, try checking out some more anime articles like Cardcaptor Sakura, that has so much "extra" information you would think you have seen the series even if you hadn't, but it is divided out into MANY subpages instead of one or Fullmetal Alchemist which even has the theme song and soundtrack info)ZyphBear 16:14, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Most of it isn't my own opinion. There are actual Wikipedia policies about what kind of stuff belongs in an article and what doesn't. As for the actual edits you were talking about, not only were they not entirely accurate (since as I pointed out, KidsWB has been using promo titles for various duels for years, meaning that this one occurrence isn't significant) but also more or less irrelevant to the article. Geg 17:05, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, then technically it WAS an accurate addition then if they have been "doing it for years" (as you said) and some people have been given references based off these "subtitles" (Which is why I prefer just episode number or actual episode title). Heck, I wouldn't mind making a separate article mentioning this and trying to compile a reference of the used subtitles/promo titles instead of adding to the already long, complex main article. That way it can still be used as a reference, and would then fit better into Wikipedia policies. Though maybe a better option would be to divide the entire YGO article into separate ones, based on different topics (Manga, misc interesting info, etc), which I would not mind doing, or assisting someone else is doing. If you noticed, I had corrected myself when I found out that the "subtitle" was not different for those episodes as well as updated when things were blatantly wrong. (including the "screening" of Capsule monsters due to the pre-registration.)ZyphBear 18:40, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Geg edit

Thanks for putting Aknadin and Brier on the list of Pete Zarustica's credits. FYI, Pete Z. never played Tunnel Rat in G.I. Joe, despite what various sites have claimed, and he is in fact the voice of Drew, Zigzagoon and Medicham on Pokemon, as well as Big the Cat on Sonic X. I know this for a fact because I work with Pete at 4kids. Thanks again. Keep watching!

Kingdom Hearts II edit

In regards to this edit:

AntiForm is a side-effect of Driving often in battle

(to)

AntiForm is a side-effect of Driving too much in battle

Maybe I'm reading things into it, but the phrase "too much" is a value judgement, implying that there is a limit to how often something should (or should not)) be used (which is what the Drive Gauge is for, as it limits how often the player can use Drives). We know that Sora's AntiForm occurs more often as the player uses Sora's Drive ability, but is there a point where we can draw a line and say "anything past here is too much"? AntiForm is a risk of gameplay, and some players are more willing to take that risk than others. So, that's why it strikes me as an opinion. --Stratadrake 02:05, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Final Fantasy character names edit

You know, a lot of wikipedians would just start an edit war, but I like your reaction better, discussing about the problem is the way to solve it. I've got to say I understood your explanation and it makes sense, so I won't remove things again like I just did. It just did not seem right at first, the difference between the romanisation I obtained and the japanese names I found on the articles. But I understand now that romanisation is only a way to see how they pronunce it, but it is not really how the character is officially named or how they romanise their names. It must be hard to find the correct names for them all, it would be helpful if Square Enix provided the official romanised japanese names on their website, unless they do and I don't know about it?--DarkEvil 05:30, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of Naruto episodes edit

I see. Though the thing is, both of those anime were fairly short, whereas Naruto is nearly 200 episodes long. Is doing a summary for every single one going to look good? Geg 15:46, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ghost "Kozuka" edit

I doubt "Kozuka" was a mistake - Remember VIZ sees the furigana of the manga. If "Kozuka" is not the furigana in the book that VIZ uses as the source, the reason I assume that VIZ changed the spelling is to ease pronunciation (E.g. Aeka to Ayeka and Reia to Rea in the Tenchi Muyo series). WhisperToMe 03:40, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
