I can't think of a subtle way to ask this without the risk of offending you, but I'm worrying now that your co-nom might be used by some editors as a bad thing as you recently failed yours. SoWhy mentioned this (see further down my talk page), and whilst i did consider it before, it is also starting to nag at me. Do you think it might be an issue?

Cagney

Notes re. Leed;

1. Everything should be read as IMHO, it's all just suggestions and thoughts, but if I write 'maybe this' or 'perhaps that' it's a bit boring, so I'll just state ideas etc

2. It's in rough note form, so if you don't understand something, say so

common name at top, Jim Cagney? means reworking head

film star or movie star?

Is 'public enemy' significant enough to be in the leed?

best known TODAY scratch today

tap dancing kid could go from leed; it's a bit 'on its own'; is it important enough? (Maybe with the rework stated, leed will get smaller, which might be a good thing) If not removed then the word "first" is superfluous in "first started tap"

Re. "every sailor" - if there's no wikilink, you need to say what it was - a musical? Or, prob better, create a stub for it.

vaudeville 2 links within leed

I don't know, but "on the vaudeville tour" may be better as just "in vaudeville" if that's the right expression? (Not my field)

Penny arcade - again, make stub? Or specify movie, whatever. But stub would be better.

Consider moving the "Cagney walked out" para around with the previous one, so it's all in linear time, if that can be done

"Jack Warner called him The Professional Againster," - we don't really know what that means; needs further clarification if it's going to say 'but he made tours' etc. I guess it means he was accused of cowardice?

Who is "Billie"? I guess (from infobox) Frances Cagney? Needs writing out (with nickname as well, perhaps) - infact, leed maybe ought to say when married (date).

"private life private" maybe would read better as "private life to himself" or "reclusive"

Whatever you decide, 'medical student' needs to be written out in full.

• Re. speaking Yiddish (later in the article) - he seems to have spoke a few lines in Yiddish in some films, this might be worth a mention

Re: Co-nom

I didn't want to spam on Amalthea's talk page further, so I'll post it here: It's not forbidden to have multiple co-noms but 2 or 3 are the usual level. But I do not know if it were such a good idea to co-nom with Flying Toaster. Let's face it, my oppose was elemental to fail her recent RFA and it might be somewhat strange if I co-nommed with her. Generally speaking, without wanting to imply anything or insult her, I am not sure her co-nom is a good idea at this moment. Her failed RFA is very recent and some people might assume that her judgment in those areas you want to work in, especially CSD, is not very sound. Of course, you have that problem with any nom, that people will be influenced by their actions, so it's probably just some silly fear of mine. Kyal Marsh

I don't know how to talk to you otherwise Re Kyal Marsh. But Charlotte Jackson goes to Aberdeen University so I think that student newspaper is a reliable source, surely? It is also still something written on the Kyal Marsh website. I go to Aberdeen Uni too and have met Charlotte, we have mutual friends. I think if I was Kyal's girlfriend I wouldn't be too happy that you were trying to say she might not be his girlfriend anymore...she's moving out to Melbourne once she graduates in September so they are clearly serious. It is not online but I do have a copy of it which I could send you although that is not particularly relevant when you are needing a source for this! Re: Mirror's Edge 2

Regarding the page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirrors_Edge_2

The copyright infringement is that it is an unauthorized derivative work. Looking at, for example, US copyright law, the content in the page constitutes a work based upon an existing work (the Mirror's Edge videogame), which recasts, transforms, and adapts portions of that work (e.g. characters, plot, setting). This makes it a derivative work. Making derivative works is an infringement of the copyright on the underlying work. Take a look at 17 USC 101 and 106(2). I'd be shocked if most other countries didn't have similar provisions in their copyright laws.

Outright reproduction is not the only form of infringing activity. This is why, for example, fanfic web sites can get shut down if the copyright holder is feeling obnoxious toward their fan base.

Frankly, I chose that particular rationale because it is indisputable. Whilst derivative work is an infringement of copyright law, it's generally felt that a plot description is fair use, and thus not a breach. As such, I didn't feel that it was a blatant breach, and thus failing to meet the criteria for speedy deletion. The Treble

Hi Ged, I seem to be in a content dispute on this article where a user reverted my extensive edits and gave very little reason for their reversion. I'm not keen to start an edit war so I have not reverted back yet. Although, I fully intend to restore many of my perfectly good edits. Also, the other user is trying to muddy the waters by accusing me of introducing OR (which was already in the article) and making false accusations. I'd really like your opinion on this as I have had various disagreements in the past with this user and I could easily get a bit over the top here. Cheers. No worries, patrolling AIV is a good way to start learning the ropes :) A few thoughts: if you can skip block templates on IPs, don't hesitate to tag users. That way their userpage gets deleted if the block is indef, or other users that interact with them know they are blocked. And I try to block IPs for shorter times if I think they might be shared, that way you get less complaints from people wondering why the hell they are blocked when the IP gets assigned to someone else. -- lucasbfr ^talk 14:12, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

It's unneccesary. The software copes perfectly well with capitals at the starts of words. Type in Cimbrian Language into the search box and press 'Go' and it will take you straight to Cimbrian language, thus the redirect isn't necessary. --GedUK  07:37, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

False Accusations by Lithium72990

The user Dumaka has been editing these two articles to support his dislike of the entertainer. Notably was his revisions to the entertainer's article where he revereted a legitimate revision to another one which included the line " Next album = "Carol City Correctional - Represent". That of course is not the entertainer's next album, yet Dumaka purposely reverted it to contain the line. Deletion of Tumi (business)

Dear Ged UK,

I do not like to make frivolous admin requests. I requested deletion of the redirect Tumi (business) because:

1. There is more than one business named Tumi, as listed on the Tumi disambiguation page.

2. There is only one business specifically named Tumi Inc..

3. Articles no longer link to Tumi (business).

Given that there are multiple business with the name Tumi, why should Tumi (business) redirect to Tumi Inc.? If anything, it should redirect to the Tumi disambiguation page, which is rather redundant, since the whole reason for the disambiguation page is to properly direct Tumi-related inquiries, since multiple entities containing the name "Tumi" are out there.

If Tumi (business) redirect cannot be deleted in spite of the above points, then what is your reason for keeping it?

Hi there. Firstly, I didn't think it was a frivolous request, so don't worry on that score! CSD criteria R3 is for implausible typos or misnomers. Tumi (business) is certainly not an implausible typo, and i don't feel that it is a misnomer either. That is not an endorsement that the page should remain, or that it is pointing to the right place. My decision is based only on my interpretation of the speedy deletion criterion. The best place to discuss this is Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. You can set up the page yourself. However, before you do, you should read 'Your First Article' which can give you the guidlines. In order for the article to stay on Wikipedia, you have to show my this person is notable, so you need to provide 3rd party (ie not by the man himself) reviews of his work that explain why he is important in his field (ie DJing). Our Notability guidelines show you the criteria you need to reach. You might be best starting it in your userspace (which is here) and getting someone to look over it, otherwise it might get deleted, and you might be disappointed! Hi, just wondered how the notability was verified for the above article. It had been posted and deleted before (see User_talk:123erika) and is written like a CV. Smartse (talk) 19:47, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

The speedy criteria is about an assertion of notability, this is different to the general notability guidelines. The previously deleted action does not apply to previous speedy deletions, only to AfDs. The article could be PRODded or AfDed. --GedUK  20:11, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
