John Warburton (actor) edit

Please note that I reverted your addition to John Warburton (actor) for two reasons. First, blogs cannot be used as references, especially for controversial content. You can read more about the type of sourcing that is expected when adding content at WP:RS. The material is also WP:UNDUE in the context of the article as a whole. Adding excessive details regarding a single event that is already adequately covered in the article, to the extent that it becomes the largest paragraph in the article, puts undue emphasis on the single event. If you disagree, the article talk page is available to see if there is consensus for inclusion, subject to reliable sourcing being available. Thank you, -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:26, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I just saw the note that you left me a couple of months ago. I apologize for my delayed response. I am new to editing, so I appreciate your assistance. I want to clarify, that the information that I sourced was from a bona fide newspaper, situated in the capital city of Canada, and not a blog. I just searched for it again, to be certain that I had used the paper as my resource. I decided to check this detail, since time has lapsed. The article that I relied upon, can be found at https://www.newspapers.com/clip/36508931/the_ottawa_citizen/

I added the details about the assault, because I determined them to be noteworthy, only because of the severity of the damages, which indicate the commission of a grave assault by Mr. Warburton. I think that the gravity of an assault, is worthwhile information for people who are interested in learning about the character, deeds, and biography of Mr. Warburton and/or the victim of that assault, the actress, Miss Alice White. I would be happy to try to condense the contents of the information about the assault, so it won't stand in such stark contrast to the rest of the page.

I don't want this to become a major issue, by any means. I am learning. I am interested in learning about the process that occurs, when one editor deems the inclusion of details to be meritorious, and another editor disagrees with that determination. I will try on my own, to search for information pertaining to the process that is undertaken in this situation. If I have any difficulty finding the information, I hope that you won't mind if I ask you for some guidance. As I noted, it isn't a significant enough matter for me to want to become engaged in a struggle. I do however, think that the severity of the assault is worth noting in some form.

I appreciate your having taken the time to write me. If I make further errors, either in editing, or in responding to these comments, I hope that you will consider the fact that I am very new to this. I value your feedback. Thank you. GarboLaughs (talk) 23:44, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Ottawa Citizen ref is used in the article, and provides details you wanted to add. However, note that in that same newspaper Warburton denies the assault on Alice. Unless you can find newspaper coverage about Warburton being in court about this, I suggest you do not try to add details. You compounded the problem by adding a blog of a newspaper item that was about the two men who assaulted Warburton. David notMD (talk) 15:46, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
