Speedy deletion nomination of Get Connected Magazines edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Get Connected Magazines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Slon02 (talk) 14:15, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

May 2011 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (GCMagazines) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Get Connected Magazines. Thank you. Elizium23 (talk) 15:25, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Wikipedia isn't a forum for advertising, and the rules don't allow us to use the name of a business as a username, so I've blocked this account and deleted the advertisement you created. Although we have strict rules against advertising, we're otherwise very nice people, so if you're interested in volunteering to help write the encyclopedia, you're entirely welcome. Just create a personal username and jump right in- but be careful to avoid writing about your own business. Thanks! If you believe this block is an error, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 18:37, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Username edit

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, it is by everyone contributing that value is added to Wikipedia. I have reviewed your request over at the helpdesk and provided some information and recommendations to you there. However, at the same time, your username you selected appears to be a violating of the username policy. It is not uncommon for business to attempt to add their own content to Wikipedia to have it deleted. I have been able to assist several companies bring their businesses into the main article space on Wikipedia such as Colayer and Garlock Sealing Technologies. However, I don't make any promises, as there has probably been four times as many companies which never meet the requirements and are not posted. Tiggerjay (talk) 23:07, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
