"World War I" is one of several names applied long after the end of the 1914-18 War, that was contemporarily referred to as the "Great War". That usage became unusual until re-introduced by the late 60's TV series of that name, I suspect. Rather a lot of meaning to pack into the change from "also" to "then", I admit. I was trying to minimise the word count, pending further discussion. Incidentally, did you see my entry in the WWI Discussion page: [2]?

I had missed the Other Names section and will review my suggestions accordingly, later.

Nuclear Rabi frequency?

Hi G-W, I notice you are a regular contributor to the Nuclear magnetic resonance article; I wonder if you could help clear something up for me. A while ago the following paragraph was added (by an unregistered user) to the article on the Rabi frequency:

"In the context of a nuclear magnetic resonance experiment, the Rabi frequency is the nutation frequency of a sample's net nuclear magnetization vector about a radiofrequency field. (Note that this is distinct from the Larmor frequency, which characterizes the precession of a transverse nuclear magnetization about a static magnetic field.)"

I am only familiar with the Rabi frequency in the context of atomic physics. I've done a quick google search and it is regularly mentioned on pages concerning NMR. I feel that these are two distinct concepts that probably merit separate articles. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks, DJIndica 19:05, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
