I-480 (IA-NE) map.svg

Hey there,

I noticed you fixed this image of mine. Please tell me how to do that! I have been trying to figure out what was causing that problem for a while now. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks, 25or6to4 (talk) 02:52, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. When I make the maps, ArcGIS automatically inserts the text. It used to export everything properly so I wouldn't have to do this extra step. Good luck with the CUP! 25or6to4 (talk) 03:16, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Some Utah B-class and above maps

Hello Fredddie. I rounded up twelve maps for used in Utah's road articles and was wondering if you could fix that text problem. I chose all good articles that had the problem and some B-class articles, but before I ask you to fix all eleven I just wanted to know how much effort it takes to do this. The good articles (the ones most necessary) are SR-269, SR-101, SR-161, and SR-202. The B-class articles that aren't as important are SR-79, SR-52, SR-93, SR-37, SR-181, SR-201, and SR-71. Again, the first four are the most important and the others aren't as much, so if you could fix those it would be most appreciated. Thanks - CL — 04:07, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Okay, sounds good! Appreciate it - CL — 04:16, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Monroe County shields

Thanks for uploading the shields! Unfortunately, you made one slight mistake. In Florida, they are called "county roads", not "county routes". You were supposed to upload them under county "roads", not "routes". Please move the titles from File:Monroe County Route C905 FL.svg, File:Monroe County Route C931 FL.svg, and File:Monroe County Route 940 FL.svg to File:Monroe County Road C905 FL.svg, File:Monroe County Road C931 FL.svg, and File:Monroe County Road 940 FL.svg, please. Thank you. --Mgillfr (talk) 18:52, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

USRD-CRWP WikiCup Status

This is just to let you know that you have been eliminated from the USRD-CRWP WikiCup. However, Scott5114 is planning another contest to open within the next few weeks. Also, there is always next year :) Good luck. --Rschen7754 (T C) 08:58, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Another contest from USRD!

Hello there! Now that round 1 of the USRD Cup is over, we're starting another USRD participation contest. The USRD Road Trip will involve expanding articles to B-Class in cities throughout the United States. Signups are open and the game will begin on at 0 UTC on February 17. Hope to see you play!—Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 09:12, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

WP:ALT

Just a FYI - you're adding captions to the maps, not alt text. Alt text is a brief description of the map (or other image), such as the suggestion listed at the bottom of Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Interstate 70 in Colorado/archive1. (We do need captions too, however. :) )--Rschen7754 (T C) 20:15, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I notice you've created some shields for Mexican highways. Can you add one for highway 5? I've been editing the article on that highway. Is there a way to automate the creation of such images? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill Malloy (talkcontribs) 02:37, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Re:Avenue of the Saints

The Trenton Freeway is a short freeway part of the longer US 1 whereas the Avenue of the Saints consists of several routes in multiple states. It makes sense for each road to have a separate article to describe it in detail. For example, we don't include every road that is a part of the Lincoln Highway, such as New Jersey Route 27 or Pennsylvania Route 462, in that article. However, in this case it many very well be appropriate to merge MO 27 and IA 27. I still feel they have potential as separate articles. Dough4872 (talk) 02:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

I think I see your point now, IA and MO 27 are synonymous with the Avenue of the Saints. Dough4872 (talk) 03:10, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Iowa Highway 107

Hello! Your submission of Iowa Highway 107 at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. DYK for Iowa Highway 107

On October 17, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Iowa Highway 107, which you created or substantially expanded. The above FLC nomination has been restarted. Please a) clearly restate the remaining issues, if necessary, and b) if possible, make a succinct declaration (i.e., support, oppose, or neutral). Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 22:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I was wondering if you could go take another look at this nomination. The redlinks have been vastly improved, and I believe I've found a suitable remedy for the shield image situation in the left column. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 02:23, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I'm not sure if it affects your stance, but Floydian mostly addressed the redlinks issue. Dabomb87 (talk) 16:54, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Question about User:Fredddie/Sandbox

Why is Route S31 being shown as "SHR S31"? All routes, even current ones, are officially State Highway Route x: [1] --NE2 22:54, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

It's from the previous numbering scheme (pre-1953). I was asked to create it using SHR. I can dig up some info if you'd like. --Fredddie 22:59, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
There's no difference in naming between pre-1953 and post-1953; everything should be 'Route'. --NE2 23:01, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't have any stake in New Jersey articles, so I won't lose sleep if it's changed. --Fredddie 23:06, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
I interrupt that you should fix links. You just made about 50-60 red links and pre-1953 is not suitable considering there were repeats from pre-1927.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 23:38, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure why you're using {{jct}} anyway in a list of routes (which is in your userspace, so it doesn't really matter for the reader if it's currently imperfect). If you don't like "pre-1953" as a disambiguation, what do you suggest? --NE2 01:19, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Another thing - did the shield design change in 1953? If not, it's not really appropriate to distinguish between pre- and post-1953 routes by using the different shields. --NE2 01:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
New signs were created for the state during the 1953 renumbering. Considering that several routes were duplicated, 1927-1953 for the duplicates, and no years for the others that will never be used again.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 01:29, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Then you shouldn't be using {{jct}} if you need several different disambiguations. The template is designed for exit/junction lists, which all refer to current routes only. --NE2 01:34, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Keeping it in line for WP:ALT, since using regular shields will violate it.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 01:37, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Then you'll have to either solve the disambiguation problem, create a new template, or not use shields at all. Why do you need the shields anyway? They don't serve to distinguish types of routes, since the tables are sorted by type. --NE2 02:00, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

WP:USRDCUP postponed

Unfortunately, due to the low number of participants in this year's contest, I have decided to postpone the contest until we get more people interested. I will let you know when the contest will be. Thanks! --Rschen7754 03:02, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
