Hello Fran, There appears to be an error in the Elizabeth (Betsy) Ross Wikipedia. The error is either Betsy’s year of death stated as 1873, or her daughter Clarissa’s year of death, stated as 1864. If Betsy truly died in 1873, then she would have been survived by four, NOT five Claypoole daughters as Clarissa, would have succeeded Betsy in death by approximately 9 years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.114.176.124 (talk) 14:34, 26 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

U.S. flag-related work edit

Thank you for your work on Francis Hopkinson and various U.S.flag-related articles. There is clearly a lot of myth and legend woven into these articles and your generally fact-based approach is appreciated.

Please note that Wikipedia is intended to be international and encyclopedic. As a result, we generally do not use first and second person pronouns in articles ("our flag", "we know"), preferring instead to spell out which flag ("the United States flag") or who holds a particular theory ("Joe Blow of Grandius University states").

As a Philadelphia-based editor, my contributions have mostly been limited to weeding out the deification of Ross in these articles and the blind acceptance of vaguely-worded tourist materials that are easily misread as confirming the myths. Again, thanks for your additions. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:49, 12 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
