Notability of Mike rimmer edit

A tag has been placed on Mike rimmer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 07:38, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Move of Greg Sammons edit

Why did you move the page Greg Sammons to Greg Sammons (rugby player)? If you intend to create another page about someone else with the same name why does that merit replacing an existing article?

noq (talk) 18:51, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see you have created another Greg Sammons (broadcaster). WP:DAB normally recommends adding a disambiguation link in the original article if less that 3 pages share the same name rather that creating a disambiguation page. noq (talk) 18:55, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

My intention was to start a disambiguation link but wasn't sure how to go about it. In this case I clearly made the wrong choice. Typing 'Greg Sammons' still directs you towards the rugby player, however. (talk) 20:05, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest moving the rugby player back to plain Greg Sammons and adding a disambiguation link. Neither Greg can really claim primary other than the rugby player was created first. noq (talk) 21:16, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have taken the liberty to move it back and add the disambiguation link to your article. Hope this is OK with you. noq (talk) 01:07, 31 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Tony Cummings edit

A tag has been placed on Tony Cummings requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. t'shael mindmeld 07:18, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Andy Kind edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Andy Kind, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.hahaheehee.com/comedians/andy_kind.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 06:46, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Mike rimmer203 203x152.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Mike rimmer203 203x152.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Peripitus (Talk) 11:29, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Andy-kind-2005-july.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Andy-kind-2005-july.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 11:30, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Andy-kind-thumbnail.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Andy-kind-thumbnail.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:31, 24 June 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 11:31, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

copyright issues with Andy Kind edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Andy Kind article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page.

The article appears to have been built with substantial content lifted from several sources, as such, I have removed all of them and shortened the article to stub status. Unless you are the owner of the original source material, please understand that we cannot accept copyrighted material on Wikipedia under any circumstances. Considering the amount of apparent copy-pasting involved with this article, I would like to urge you to read our policies on copyright before contributing any further. Thank you for your understanding and happy editing. MLauba (talk) 10:00, 25 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jerina Adams edit

A tag has been placed on Jerina Adams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

A tag has been placed on Jerina Adams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Edits to Jennifer Ellison edit

Do not log out to edit articles in order to attempt to disguise what you're doing. This was obviously you, since only you can have known that you'd just uploaded that picture. We have a policy about this, and disruptive edits which seem to be by you, logged out, can and will be treated as if they were by you, logged in. Any repeats will result in a long, perhaps indefinite, block from editing Wikipedia. Any repeats after that will likely result in a lengthy protection of the article.
