Recent edits edit

Hi, FilmCriticAlpha, and thank you for opening a discussion. I can only speak to your and my edits; I can't comment on anything other editors have done — some of it may indeed be inappropriate, but I and other editors, yourself included, would have to go in there read and possibly update those articles. There's an essay called Other Stuff Exists that explains in detail that if something's not right in some article other than the one under discussion, we should fix that other article, rather than use it as a rationale to do the same thing elsewhere. With some multiple million articles on Wikipedia, you can see how it's impossible to keep track of all.

The Hollywood Reporter article you were using to cite your edits didn't actually support them. Producers, writers, etc. get attached to prospective projects all the time, and many of them never come to fruition. Right not, Powerhouse itself is nothing but an original story. "Carmichael will write the script," so there's not even a script yet. Whether it will even get made — and even high-profile projects get canceled all the time — is unknown, hence WP:CRYSTAL. Plus, the WP:TONE of the edits clearly indicated they were promotional in nature, mostly in support of Emily Carmichael. Since you don't appear to be contributing to Wikipedia for anything other than articles involving her, any longtime Wikipedia editor can clearly see you're either a fan not interested in supporting this altruistic free encyclopedia except to promote her, or, as we most often find, this is conflict-of-interest editing by a publicist, marketing person and in some cases even the subject him/herself.

Wikipedia is not a place to promote people, products or projects. If you're sincere about contributing to and supporting this encyclopedia, then we strongly encourage that. But we do not encourage single-purpose accounts, particularly when they're promotional in nature.

Fortunately, there's no deadline. If and when Powerhouse goes into active production, this information will definitely belong here. I hope this helps. --Tenebrae (talk) 15:13, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

And I and other editors, I'm sure, appreciate a contributor who can absorb all these protocols developed over years, and understands why they're in place. You seem like someone with analytical ability and who's a quick learner, so I personally hope you'll consider contributing more widely to Wikipedia. I think you have the makings of a good editor. If you ever need help or advice, I'd be more than happy to offer. With best regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 15:48, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
