BlackAmerican

I saw your message on the BlackAmerican talk page and I've decided to propose deletion for that article because there is no evidence this term has ever entered into general usage as a term for people of African-American heritage. Right now it is a neologism and shouldn't really have a stand alone article. I don't even think it is necessarily useful as a mention at African-American, but if you feel that it is useful I'd be happy to discuss it.--Isotope23 17:10, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Spa-Francorchamps

The original circuit lay between the towns of Francorchamps, Malmédy and Stavelot. The modern, shortened circuit is the part adjacent to Francorchamps (La Source hairpin lies in the town). All are miles from the town of Spa, although they are in the Spa region. -- Ian Dalziel (talk) 18:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

24 Hours of Daytona

I am well aware that it is an auto race. However, we do not automatically put every auto race into Category:Auto races. There is already a subcategory termed Category:Grand-Am races which the race falls under. 1000km Monza is listed under Category:Auto races because there is not yet a category for Le Mans Series races, hence there is no more specific category in which to place it.

Please do not keep readding a parent category when there is already a more specific one in use. The359 (talk) 23:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Talladega Gran Prix Raceway

Hi, I tried to find the track with google earth put the track looks like the map at wikipedia, I'm guessing the track was redesigned relatively recently. I'm going to try and make a map from the pic on the track's website.Chris Ssk talk 00:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Usually I use google earth to find a circuit, take a screenshot and draw the map. Chris Ssk talk 11:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

In google earth, Edit-> Copy -> Copy Image (Ctrl+Alt+C). Then paste it in a graphics editor (I use Paint Shop Pro), add a new layer and using the image from google as a guide draw the map on the new layer. Copy/Paste the layer as a new image, refine it a bit and save it as a png Chris Ssk talk 17:08, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi!

Usually, I use Google Maps to get the overhead layout of the circuit and use Inkscape to draw a vector version. Here is the map of PIR that you wanted. Readro (talk) 17:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

You didn't ask me to put it in the article :) Readro (talk) 19:57, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I realize that you see True Steppa's edits as problematic, and they may well be - but let's settle down on what might end up being an edit war while it's looked into, ok? I have also warned True Steppa with the same template, as both of you have reverted repeatedly. Thanks. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 19:56, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I do not think you cannot link to http://www.electronicmusicstyles.com as an external link-- they say very clearly on their "about" page that its based on Wikipedia data, with added user content. One Circuit

Hello, Will Pittenger. The updates you did for Miller Motorsports Park looks great. Could you do a map for Heartland Park Topeka? It has four configurations. Thank you for your time. Fclass (talk) 21:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

It is rare that I update something like that. However, I will add your request to the queue. As you will see on my blog, most of what I have done concerning race tracks deal with adding that information to Google Earth. In fact, I rely heavily on the maps that Wikipedia has. Currently, I am working on tourism information for the Natchez Trace Parkway. That will probably take me several more days. One thing I just don't bother with is pure speedways. Too boring making all those left turns.
If you want to work on it, I just use Inkscape to make the images. I have SVG versions of each. Inkscape can export PNG images. I can post on ImageShack a screen capture of GE showing that track, but since that image would be copyrighted, you should instead install GE for yourself and go from there. You probably will find the free version of GE is plenty. That's I use. Inkscape is open-source and 100% free. Will (Talk - contribs) 02:21, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

At this point, I don't see myself able to do anything about the track you asked about. I just can't find enough information. I rely heavily on various sources that can help me relate what I see in GE to existing track maps. Nothing I can find lists the turn numbers. I also couldn't relate the track maps at TrackPedia to what I saw in GE. In fact, what I see in GE is either a track in very bad shape or a dirt-only course (and the drag strip). Part of that impression comes from the apparent lack of curbs. Those normally stick out. Here however, there are no curbs at all. The curbs normally help out a lot in deciding where the track is and isn't. I'll keep looking, but there is no guarantee. In fact, the problems I encountered may be why there isn't a track map in Wikipedia now. My apologies. If you know of more information, please pass it on. It will help in fulfilling your request. Will (Talk - contribs) 07:47, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

After plenty of head scratching, the road course is now shown at Heartland Park Topeka. The image is at Commons:Image:Heartland Park Topeka.svg. More stuff may be coming. However, you will need Google Earth for that based on my current plans. Will (Talk - contribs) 04:56, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

The map is correct. I checked the website myself. Thank you. Do you use Inkscape to make the maps? If yes, how do you upload the image on Inkscape? I know the tracing part, but it doesn't explain how to upload the image.Fclass (talk) 21:45, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

  1. Save the SVG.
  2. In any Wikipedia or (if you are making the image free) Commons page, click the link in your toolbox marked Upload a file.
  3. Proceed to upload it by following the instructions. Those will vary depending on the license and site.
  4. If you don't want to create a PNG, just stop. However, while IE7 is still common, you should. It doesn't support SVG at all.
  5. Go back to Inkscape. Jump to Step 9 if the page size is already correct.
  6. Make sure you select everything.
  7. Go to File/Document Properties
  8. Click Fit Page to Selection.
  9. Open File/Export Bitmap.
  10. Click Export after you verify the file path, filename, and type. For in Windows XP, the default is the location and filename of the SVG with PNG and the type.
  11. Upload the PNG like you did the SVG. Be sure to link the two image pages together like I did.
BTW: Do you have information on the dirt stuff? I didn't see anything on the website other than schedules and ticket offers. Will (Talk - contribs) 04:49, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Another Circuit

Hey, Will Pittenger, it's Fclass, again. I have one more request. After this, you won't hear from me again. Could you do a map for Pacific Raceways? It's a road course in the state of Washington. Thanks for your time. Fclass (talk) 15:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem. In fact, I have started geotagging the image pages that I start. It helps that there is now a Network Link KMZ that does most of the work. It can generate the template call that I would add. Because your requests end up as new items in my blog, I get more traffic. It's less than one month old and I'm getting plenty of traffic. Will (Talk - contribs) 08:43, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. The cooresponding stuff for Google Earth is at Now complete: Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:12, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Are you going to do more curcuit maps? Fclass (talk) 15:49, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

As needed. Most of what I do is Google Earth. However, when Wikipedia doesn't have the map, I may add it. Will (Talk - contribs) 03:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Bugatti Circuit

I changed the Bugatti Circuit image for two reasons:

  1. The old image was out of date.
  2. The old image was PNG rather than SVG.

Will (Talk - contribs) 20:10, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Circuit de la Sarthe

I changed nothing on that page. All my blog stated I was doing was adding it to my GE stuff. That is done and published. Will (Talk - contribs) 04:16, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

No personal attacks

Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Talk:African American. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. :Please read WP:No personal attacks, WP:Civility, and WP:Assume good faith. Also read WP:BLP. Further attacks such as the ones you've made may result in a block. Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 18:06, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

No matter how frustrated you may be, you cannot go around calling other Wikipedia editors assholes, bigots, and Klansmen. Those two were expressing their views, one of them in a condescending manner, but both in a civil fashion.
By the way, one of the two editors didn't say anything to merit your vitriol. User:Sugarcubez wrote that "the word Negro is considered dergatorey and offensive to a lot of black people", which is the same thing you wrote except she/he wrote it in civil language.
As I wrote, if you continue to throw temper tantrums and attack other editors, your behavior may result in a block. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 21:53, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Ciara Harris

Hi Welcome to Wikipedia! Your constant edits on the article Ciara are non-constructive. If you feel that a part of her heritage is missing than you must find a reliable source which states that she of African American heritage as well. Do not remove her other ethnicity because you may personally feel she shouldn't be classified in those categories when she meets the qualifications. WE have a zero tolerance policy against attacking someone's ethnicity or excluding certain ethnicities. For example her German heritage is just as important as her Native American heritage. Thank YouMcelite (talk) 00:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)mcelite

For your information the proper term would be African American. Furthermore, African American does not over rule other ethnicities. Hence if she was African American and Caucasian she would be bi-racial is all by all her rights allowed to claim all of heritage not just her African heritage. In addition, since it seems that you have no concept if you want to go by appearrance, her complection is quite common among Native Americans matter of fact Sub-Saharan Africans (the Africans that were taken into slavery) are some of the darkest skin people on the planet. There were no light-skinned, copper, light brown, yellow skinned people (unless they also had caucasian descent) on those boats. Also yes that is being biased saying one race is better than the other. All u have 2 do is find a RELIABLE source that states her being also African American. Thank YouMcelite (talk) 20:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC)mcelite

Re: Bugatti Circuit

Is the map of the Bugatti Circuit a modern one? It says 1967. If it's not, can you please make a map of the current Bugatti Circuit? Fclass (talk) 19:41, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Could you have mentioned the wrong track? Which image do you see at Bugatti Circuit? It should be the one at the right. That one is VERY recent. I did that just a few weeks ago. Will (Talk - contribs) 05:50, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

You're right. I apologize. Since I'm here, could you do a map for Scandinavian Raceway and Waterford Hills Road Racing Track? Fclass (talk) 15:26, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

I see very little material to work with for the Scandinavian Raceway. The resolution in GE is lousy. I can barely see the outline of the track — and even then, only part of it. The official website listed in the External links section is down. The Anderstorp Racing Club (Swedish) site is up, but in Swedish only. There is no contact information in English (my only language outside programming). I did manage to find a track map, but it is in perspective. I would need to use a tool to fix that so the camera would be above the image. That is enough to prevent me from being acurate with the layout of the track. I have no idea if I will be able to do anything at all without more information.
The good news is that unless I have the wrong location (42°42′35.5″N 83°23′29.4″W / 42.709861°N 83.391500°W / 42.709861; -83.391500) for Waterford Hills Road Racing Track, I should be able to do that once I get to it. I don't know when that will be as my schedule is full. I'll let you know. In the meantime, is the pavement at the exact location above an optional track segment? What about the pavement at 42°42′35″N 83°23′20.2″W / 42.70972°N 83.388944°W / 42.70972; -83.388944? Will (Talk - contribs) 06:45, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
