Hello Farhikht, I appreciate your efforts in improving the standards on Wik. What do you think can be done to improve some of the journalists and human rights activists such as in the page Majid Rafizadeh. It seems the page has existed for several years. What about a page like this http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alireza_Nader does it need anything . Just thanked you.

Just reviewing the articles; thanks. Hello Farhikht, just finished the articles you suggested. Here are two pages that lack many references and you can check the notability: Mehdi Khalaji, Karim Sadjadpour

Hello Farhikht, apologies... It seems the subject of the first article you are editing is innocent and does not have to do anything. Poor edits by others have caused him damage. Do you think that after your kind edits, the notes on top of the page can be removed; It is probably hurting him, the human rights activist and journalist.

Colors again edit

Hi! I asked one user that have edited many elections articles about colors. You can see his answer here. I also asked in help section but I don't receives the answer. You can add your comment too. Thanks. Tabarez (talk) 19:22, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

As this user says, we can use colors for six of them. Two others must be blank. Tabarez (talk) 20:05, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Where does he said that? He said that he doesn't know.Farhikht (talk) 20:09, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Read carefully: If sources assign a particular color to a candidate, and if most sources agree on that color, you may use that. If someone disagrees, I'd say a candidate explicitly saying he has no official color should have more weight, unless the sources are near unanimous in agreement. Tabarez (talk) 20:14, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
This mean Ghalibaf's color "must" be as most of sources says his campaign color is yellow. A fewer sources about Jalili and Velayati. Tabarez (talk) 20:16, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Right. But Ghalibaf denied this claim. And where are these sources? Provide them. And translate their claims in English.Farhikht (talk) 20:21, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Do you remember 2009 election (or selection)? Which, color was the main for campaigns? You must not expected he don't denied. And about Velayati and Jalili, their main publicity's is in their posters which if you search in websites, you can found. For Velayati all brown, for Jalili most red. It mean unofficial color. Tabarez (talk) 20:26, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Is there any written source which support this claim? or just posters?Farhikht (talk) 20:36, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Which? Ghalibaf or two others? Tabarez (talk) 20:38, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
For others. For Ghalibaf, you accepted that he denied claim of using colors.Farhikht (talk) 20:41, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
First, I don't agree his color is yellow and second, only posters, logos and websites and about sources, I can't find anything as so because of it I don't add these two colors to the inbox. Tabarez (talk) 20:43, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I didn't understand. Do you have any written source for these 3 other candidates? You said that we can put 6 of them.Farhikht (talk) 20:48, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Can we chat in yahoo? I think it's only solution for our problem to discuss. Tabarez (talk) 20:50, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Chat about what? If you have any written source I will accept.Farhikht (talk) 20:53, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Again and again you only says your last speeches as we asks from other user!!!! I have give you many sources in the talk of the article you can go and see it. Yes, we're not sure about Velayati, Jalili, Haddad and we don't add the actual color until their announcement or any source. Can you understand it?! Tabarez (talk) 20:56, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Another example, see this. About some of them, there are no sources about their party color but article have colors for all parties as you also sees VOTE AGAINST have a violet color! Please finished these spurious engages. Tabarez (talk) 21:03, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Which of them has no official color? As I understand, you said that Hadda, Velayati and Jalili has no color, that's right? And for Ghalibaf, can you translate this source about color?Farhikht (talk) 21:12, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
In the article about Italian election I mean. Which party has no official color?Farhikht (talk) 21:37, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Tabarez (talk) 06:12, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Farhikht (talk) 07:18, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tabarez (talk) 07:30, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Farhikht (talk) 07:35, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Tabarez (talk) 07:40, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Spam accusations edit

I'm confused about your accusation against User:CharlesRChapman that he's adding spam links to promote the Guardian journalist Saeed Kamali Dehghan for this edit [1]. It doesn't look like CRC edited any of the other articles in question, and I can't find any evidence that he added other links by SKD-- do you believe this spamming to be by a series of sock puppets? Perhaps a good first step here would be to speak to the account or accounts in question. -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:52, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the page history of Sakharov Prize, I just realized you're also accusing me of spamming, since I'm the one who inserted the Guardian link. [2] Well, I'm not a spammer. I don't know what's caused you to make accusations like this against various accounts, but you should re-read WP:AGF. Could you clarify what account you believe to be spamming here? Cheers, -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:57, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
No, I think that it was a misunderstanding. I did not accuse you, neither other users. The spammer is probably SKD himself or someone close to him. Actually all his papers of The Guardian is on Wikipedia, some of them without citing his name in the url.Farhikht (talk) 13:05, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Deleting all content with that author's name on it is a very bad approach. Guardian articles are legitimate sources and will be added by many good-faith editors like myself.
What account do you think is placing this spam? If you can find it, you can then look at that editor's contributions to see if they're appropriate. Or, a better question: why are you making the accusation about spam at all? Is there evidence that this reporter is spamming Wikipedia (or that someone is on his behalf)? I'm just trying to understand. Thanks, -- Khazar2 (talk) 13:09, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, who is User:CharlesRChapman? Could you please tell me where I accused him of spamming?Farhikht (talk) 13:14, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
About the Guardian, I noted his IPs somewhere, I will find it and will tell you. Sure some of his writings must be here, specially those about Iran's current issues but not for example on Water fight.Farhikht (talk) 13:14, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
CharlesRChapman inserted text at Naser Makarem Shirazi [3] that you removed today, calling it "spam" [4]. Why did you think that this text was spam? I think you need to start double-checking your work. -- Khazar2 (talk) 13:19, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yep there you mean. Do you know Persian? Please check again that section Farhikht (talk) 13:24, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand your response. Why is this spam? And why do I have to know Persian to read an English-language Guardian article? Please explain why CharlesWChapman's edit and my edit were spam. -- Khazar2 (talk) 13:31, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
That section comes from a website close to this blog. That's why I removed it. You restored some content from a blog and if you check out that url, you will find out that the title is in Persian which include some kind of humor.Farhikht (talk) 13:41, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but you're dodging my question. This is the edit I'm asking you about. It does not appear that the editor inserted this as spam. Why did you call this spam and delete it? My own edit was not spam. Why did you call it spam and delete it?
I'm reverting your deletions for now. What I'd suggest is that in the future, if you think you find spam, you should report it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam. Tell them who the spammer is that you want investigated, and an experienced editor can take a look. That way, you don't have to delete a lot of legitimate content and accuse a lot of good faith editors. I appreciate your attention to this issue, and I understand that it's easy to make mistakes. But it's important to be more careful in the future. Thanks, and all best for your future editing! -- Khazar2 (talk) 13:50, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your advice. I won't revert your edits despite believing that the author of those articles is spamming WP. My best.Farhikht (talk) 14:11, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

File:Mohammad javad Bahonar.jpg edit

Look at what I wrote above the comment — there are no copyright relations between the USA and Iran, so something created and published first in Iran is by definition not protected by US copyright law. Nyttend (talk) 13:57, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes but Iran has its own copyright law and WP respect that law. You can find it here.Farhikht (talk) 11:30, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
We respect all non-US nations' copyrights to the extent that they're relevant to the USA, because most nations' terms of copyright are highly relevant to the USA. We ignore non-US nations' copyrights when they're not relevant, and this is the whole reason for {{Do not move to Commons}}. See File:Marcel Duchamp Mona Lisa LHOOQ.jpg for an example; we respect France's copyright law too, but we host this image happily and use it wherever we want because it's in the public domain in the USA, even though it will be more than a quarter of a century until it's in the public domain in France. Nyttend (talk) 12:38, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I didn't understand exactly why you think that that file is not on public domain in the US while the date of its creation, the creator and the 1st publishing date are unknown and is not mentioned in the source.Farhikht (talk) 13:18, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Date of creation, creator's name, and date of publication are completely irrelevant here. Nothing from Iran is copyrighted in the USA, because no copyright relations exist between the two countries. At the same time, and for the same reason, nothing from the USA is copyrighted in Iran. Nyttend (talk) 16:55, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
This file has been published by an Iranian website but we don't know who is the creator (or the copyright holder). How do you know that the creator is not an American photographer and because there is no copyright law between 2 countries someone published the copyrighted file in Iran?Farhikht (talk) 17:05, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I can't understand your second sentence. The creator is irrelevant — the country of publication is the basis upon which everything else depends anytime we're talking about one country's copyright law related to another. If laws required us to figure out the creator's nationality for all anonymous works, we'd be swamped with even more orphan works than we have today. Think of it this way — File:Saeed Moaddeli.jpg was taken by an Irani national and published in the USA. If creator's nationality were relevant here, the image would be copyrighted in Iran and PD in the USA, even though it was taken and published in the USA. Nyttend (talk) 17:28, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I give you an example: this is a news article published by an Iranian agency. How about if I upload this photo of Oliver Stone on Wikipedia?Farhikht (talk) 18:01, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'd advise you not to — not on copyright grounds, but for other reasons; if you're in the USA, you may upload it as far as copyright is concerned, but there are other issues. For one thing, the current image of him is superior, and it's on Commons, while that image is poorer quality and you'd only be able to upload it here. Moreover, remember that you're bound by the laws of the country you're in; if you're in Iran or any country with which Iran has copyright relations, you're violating your local laws by uploading it, so you really shouldn't do it yourself unless you're in the USA, like I am. Nyttend (talk) 18:12, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Would you please take a look at this article?Farhikht (talk) 18:51, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I read the entire article, but I'm not clear why you pointed me there; it sounds as if you're saying "This page will correct your misunderstanding", but it simply says what I've been telling you. Obviously I misunderstood something that you've said, so would you please clarify? Nyttend (talk) 18:56, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
What I try to say is that all photos which you find on Iranian news agencies are copyrighted under the US law. Iranian journalists find them via a search on internet. For example that photo of O. Stone is probably a photo of WSJ or New York Times or TIME, or another press agency. Do you get the point?Farhikht (talk) 19:26, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
In which case they're not first published in Iran. Remember that I know nothing of Farsi, unlike you — you made it sound as if the website claimed that its operators had taken the Stone picture, and you gave me no reason to expect anything else. If you have good reason to believe that File:Mohammad javad Bahonar.jpg was first published in some country with which the USA has copyright relations, the situation will be completely different, but you need to present evidence of that instead of being duplicitous. Without presenting any evidence, do you seriously expect me to believe that this image of an Iranian politician was first published in some other country? You need to present solid evidence, and your actions make me suspect that you're grasping at straws to get this image deleted illegitimately. Nyttend (talk) 19:29, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have no evidence of the first publisher of the file. I supposed that you are right but I asked an Iranian admin to read this discussion.Farhikht (talk) 20:03, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

[unindent] "Iranian admin" — do you mean an admin at the English Wikipedia who's from Iran, or an admin at the Farsi Wikipedia? Nyttend (talk) 20:06, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Roozbeh who is an Iranian admin at English Wikipedia and knows the issue better than me. I sent him a mail. I don't know what action made you think that I try to delete this file illegitimately while for me this file is just a file like many other files on Wikipedia. I just asked you a question because I saw many files has been deleted on English Wikipedia because they were media files and they were all published for the first time on an Iranian agency. For example (and as I remember) some deleted files uploaded by this user.Farhikht (talk) 20:24, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Greetings. I am Quadell, a long-time admin here. Back in 2005, Jimbo Wales (Wikipedia's founder and, at the time, chairman of the board) noticed that we were using images and text copyrighted in Iran. He heartily disapproved. This led to a lot of debate, and eventually consensus formed that we should not host images on the English Wikipedia that are considered copyrighted in Iran, and that would suddenly be considered copyrighted in the U.S. if the U.S. ever to sign a copyright treaty with Iran. (This applies to all other countries we have no copyright relationship as well.) See Template:Iran copyright for one expression of this.

I happen to disagree with this. I don't think the English Wikipedia should consider an image copyrighted unless the U.S. considers it copyrighted. But I don't make the rules. Longstanding consensus has been that the English Wikipedia should not accept such images, even if there is no law stopping us from doing so. Unless that consensus changes (due to an RFC or something), we shouldn't keep photos like this. – Quadell (talk) 20:00, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello Farhikht, everything added by major contributor was deleted and biased words removed for the activist. It is almost the same as it was first published where there were no issues.
