What is vandalism?

You recently removed the following text from Ali Khamenei with the comment "rm vandalism".

  • Filmmaker Mohammad Nourizad was imprisoned for spreading propaganda.

Apparently you and the editor who inserted the text have a disagreement about whether it belongs on that page, but it is clearly not vandalism. It is a good-faith attempt to add information to Wikipedia. Please read and understandWP:Vandalism before using that word again.

I am going to start a discussion on talk:Ali Khamenei about whether that fact (and similar ones) should be included. Thundermaker (talk) 16:21, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Please read one phrase before that claim about Nourizad: "Prominent journalists Ahmad Zeidabadi, Mohsen Sazegara, Mohammad Nourizad and Akbar Ganji were arrested and tortured[11][12] [13] [14] for writing critical articles about Khamenei's policies as the supreme leader" which is sourced. What it means spreading propaganda? and why it has to be mention here in Khamenei's article? If someone write in an article on Mohammad Nourizad that Khamenei is writing a book on islam or something like this, do you think that it's not vandalism?Farhikht (talk) 16:31, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Whether it is vandalism depends on their intent. If someone writes "fuck shit piss", it is almost always vandalism. But if they write something that they believe is true and they believe belongs on that page, it is called a "good-faith edit". If you disagree, the disagreement is called a "content dispute". There are various ways of resolving disputes, but calling the other editor a vandal never helps. There are some good suggestions at WP:Dispute resolution. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. Hi, you recently re-directed 2 bonyads:

Hi Farhikht, thanks for sorting out some minor things in the article, but I feel that 7 minutes after creation is a little fast to start adding orphan tags. Mikenorton (talk) 15:21, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

You are right, sorry, I'm new on AWB!Farhikht (talk) 15:40, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Not a problem, I would suggest giving a new article at least a week before adding an orphan tag - I sometimes forget to create incoming links when I create an article, so I find that it can be a useful reminder (although some editors who create articles on plants and the like can get a bit touchy about this as they may never be able to get more than a single incoming link). Thank you for helping to clean up trivia from this article! There is a lot inserted by some people who are trying to promote themselves and their own groups and activities.

However, I restored part of the information about the Anoosh incident from 1996. This was a major occurrence which continues to be mentioned years later in academic papers. It's a lot more important than some of the other protests and stuff mentioned in that section (which get mentioned once in the news and then forgotten).

Hi Farhikht/Archive 1. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

Mahmoud Shoolizadeh

Dear Farhikht, with all due respect, and as an Iranian, I wanted to personally communicate with you. I just wanted to give you some important information about these films, the real reasons why I believe these films have to remain on wikipedia. Let me give you a few examples: The film series The Textbooks, was a documentary series made that was critical of the textbooks published in Iran, interviews with experts made the film conclude that the ministry of education in Iran has to remove the political bias in school books, and change its twisted views in history and religious books. Needless to say, the film was immediately banned and sent straight to the archives. Many years later, another reseacher and equality advocate in Iran read about this film ON WIKIPEDIA, and decided to go and look for it in the archives. The film was used as a base for his research, which is now causing reform in Iran's education system. Another reason, the film The World Intellectuals is a film that was also immediately banned. The film talked about the philosophy of the german poet and philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, it was a liberal (roshanfekr) film. The reason why IRIB banned it was, and i quote: "The only philosophy is that of Islam". Mr. Farhikht, Film makers, artists, and activists are having an extremely hard time in Iran, and have a harder time communicating through internet, lets not make it harder for them. qualified reviewer?

I think it is necessary to point out some critical points regarding your last posts on iran- and iranian-related issues. After reading your comments and reviewing your actions, it appears that these are not based on extensive research but more of emotional and naive nature. For instance, you mention that you could find any information neither in Persian. May I ask, what sources you are using to gain information? What are the research strategies? Do you have access to reliable archives? These are indeed legitimate questions regarding your qualities as a reviewer and in my opinion should definitely be answered before your next action. As a scientist, I am familiar with the peer-review process for publications. The reviewer himself should be highly qualified (a peer) in a specific field of research. What are your special achievements? What guarantees the value of your contributions? Would these changes have affected your delete opinion? Please reply below here - I will watch this page.

Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

I verified the new sources in the "Further reading" section. The first one is from Chelcheragh, a tabloid weakly which its primary target group is young higher educated people. I can't verify the depth of coverage but I think thatChelcheragh can't be considered a reliable source for music articles. The second is probably a history of music inKermanshah, published by a local book publisher and written by a local journalist born in 1976 according to his biohere. The writer claimed in his biography that he is head of the "current event" service inKayhan newspaper which do not make him an expert on the topic. So I think that the article still fails WP:MUSIC. Masoumeh Ebtekar

Farhikht has edited a change made on masoumeh ebtekar's page on the subtitle "questions on plagiarism " . Ebtekar is a reknown Professor at our university and does not deserve this paragraph and the subtitle. many of the footnotes and references to this paragraph and in the text are not available now. she has now many ISI articles (scopus)and her students have obtained national awards and this is not a correct representation of her status.I think the paragraph should be removed, or reduced in size or at least subtitle removed. also several references about the American Embassy are from elaine Sciolino all from one source and all very negative about her I dont think this is fair. reformists like her are already under alot of pressure from the system and this biased references from one source is not fair.the ref about shooting Americans is not reliable yet wiki editors allow it to stand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by98.158.113.64 (talk) 05:54, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment. The paragraph on plagiarism can't be removed as a reliable source (Nature) covered it. But on the other issue, I invite you to post a commenthere, and don't forget to discuss the issue on the Ebtekar's talk page here. Please consider finding reliable sources (journals, newspapers, books) that support your claim. And before doing this please take a look at this article. Abdoreza Razmjoo, again

The indefatigable Farkoh has come up with another source - see User talk:JohnCD#Abdoreza Razmjoo. I can't make much of it through Google Translate - it looks as though he did something on the soundtrack of a film. Do you think it helps with notability? JohnCD (talk) 22:53, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

As you pointed out, the article talks about an upcoming TV movie called Scarface (not the onedirected by Brian De Palma!). According to it, Razmjou did the soundtrack. I just look for the movie's title on the internet without finding something interesting. So I do not think that he can pass notability considering this article. Just for fun, I think they did this article for Wikipedia, because half of it talks about Razmjou and his career as a musician, which is weird!Farhikht (talk) 07:33, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Pantea Rahmani

Hello Farhikht. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Pantea Rahmani, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Much better looking sources in this version. It's not very spammy either, though may well need a rewrite. Needs to go to AFD again if you think it should be deleted. Thank you. GedUK  11:40, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello Ged UK. No problem, I will go to AfD. Thank you.Farhikht (talk) 17:08, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Vandalism!!!

What's your major in wikipedia? Only want yourself editing in wikipedia? I know laws and I edit under laws. You can seeUnited States presidential election, 2012 or Iranian presidential election, 2009 for example. PLEASE DON'T WANT ONLY THAT'S ON YOURSELF MIND. ALL CAN EDIT IN WIKIPEDIA. Tabarez (talk) 21:21, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Yes, what you do is vandalism. I told you so many times to read policies. Ask yourself why you have so many complaints on your talk page. All of them are wrong?Farhikht (talk) 21:26, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
I have reasons for my edits and you?? Tabarez (talk) 21:29, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Edit war on Iranian presidential election, 2013

Hello. You appear to be involved in an edit war on Iranian presidential election, 2013.

While the three-revert rule is hard and fast, please be aware that you can be blocked for edit warring without making 3 reverts to an article in 24 hours. You are not entitled to 3 reverts and edit wars may be slow-moving, spanning weeks or months. Edit wars are not limited to 24 hours.

If you are unclear how to resolve a content dispute, please see dispute resolution. You are expected to cooperatively engage other editors on talk pages rather than reverting their edits. Note that posting your thoughts on the talk page alone is not a license to continue reverting. You must reach consensus.

If you feel your edits might qualify as one of the small list of exceptions, please apply them with caution and ensure that anyone looking at your edits will come to the same conclusion. If you are uncertain, seek clarification before continuing. Quite a few editors have found themselves blocked for misunderstanding and/or misapplying these exceptions. Often times, requesting page protection or a sockppuppet investigation is a much better course of action.

Continued edit warring on Iranian presidential election, 2013 or any other article may cause you to be blocked without further notice. Toddst1 (talk) 21:46, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello. But what I reverted was vandalism on that page. I reported the user and you can see my warnings on his talk page.Farhikht (talk) 21:50, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
It's not clear that it is vandalism. If there is any doubt if your edits might qualify as one of the small list of exceptions, (as in this case) please apply them with caution and ensure that anyone looking at your edits will come to the same conclusion. If you are uncertain, seek clarification before continuing. Quite a few editors have found themselves blocked for misunderstanding and/or misapplying these exceptions. Often times, requesting page protection is a much better course of action. Toddst1 (talk) 22:04, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
I considered these two edits as blanking: 1, 2.Farhikht (talk) 22:24, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Why the names must be incomplete? Why he deleted my edits in other sections? Tabarez (talk) 10:21, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for making a report about Tabarez (talk · contribs · block log) onWikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 22:08, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

The fact is that I warned him as you can see on his talk page so I ignored his good faith. I asked him to read policies which he didn't accept. I'm tired of checking all his edits, as you can see some of them are useful and some of them are not constructive.Farhikht (talk) 22:25, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
I have reported User:Tabarez to WP:ANI for among other things edit warring and WP:OWN, as WP:ANI seems to be the proper place for it. Thomas.W (talk) 10:05, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

You have beenblocked temporarily from editing for edit warring, as you did atIranian presidential election, 2013. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Toddst1 (talk) 14:15, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

After discussion with Tabarez (talk · contribs), it appears this block was unnecessary and I have unblocked you.Toddst1 (talk) 15:08, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Election colours

Hi! I also add the sources for Ghalibaf,Velayati andHaddad]. Please add these too. Thanks. Tabarez (talk) 17:17, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I answered you on the talk page of the article, here.Farhikht (talk) 17:22, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Tabarez (talk) 17:33, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

WP:MOS

Farhikht (talk) 17:41, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Tabarez (talk) 17:45, 27 May 2013 (UTC).
Farhikht (talk) 17:56, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Tabarez (talk) 18:00, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Farhikht (talk) 18:11, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Farhikht (talk) 18:15, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Tabarez (talk) 18:44, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Tabarez (talk) 19:25, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Farhikht (talk) 19:34, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
