Hi Exiled. When I removed that bit I felt quite guilty as it was your first Wiki contribution. Glad to see you've been welcomed and want to contribute.
I did have some concerns with that. First, are we devoting space to research that is not otherwise attested to? "Gaia" made a splash, as did "Rare Earth." Has this book? I know Gonzalez was a research associate for Rare Earth but I don't know if this thesis rises to the level of inclusion. I would suggest (while admitting I haven't read the book) that the question involved is as much philosophical (or even theological) as it is scientific. There is an implied teleology that I think is at odds with the way science handles these questions. You say, for instance, it hasn't been refuted. Can it be refuted? Is it falsifiable?
All of that said, it ain't my business to preclude contrib's and I can see that idea shouldn't be suppressed if nothing else. Perhaps you can cut it two sentences rather than a paragraph and we can try and include it at the end of the last section. Cheers, Marskell 12:50, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry to take so long to respond. I have no problem if you add the two sentences you suggested to me. Probably at the end of "Life's impact on habitability" is good. I'll look at it and maybe tweak so that everything flows. I notice you haven't edited in a few days.
