people from metropolitan areas

I'd been copying those in where I found them, assuming them to be some kind of harmless grouping category. Should I be deleting them instead? I see that you've deleted a few after my edits recently. Do we have any guideline on this?

Fictional characters by hair color

Hi! Just a reminder in case you are too busy to do it now or you had forgotten: you closed the CFD for Fictional characters by hair color with a result of Speedy Delete, but have not deleted them. -- ReyBrujo 01:06, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. It is always nice to learn a bit more about the inner workings of Wikipedia :-) -- ReyBrujo 04:49, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Left and Right

Category:Right-wing parties in France has now become part of the hierachy starting in Category:Right-wing parties and organizations. The sooner this manifestation stops, the better. Thanks for reverting that vandalism off of my user page. -- Clevelander 17:29, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Lake County, Ohio coverage?

Do you suppose the flood season in Ohio deserves a page of its own or anything? (<a href="http://www.newsnet5.com/floods/index.html">Channel 5</a> thought it needed its own page there....</a>) I'm new to writing encyclopedic articles about current events and don't really know what's appropriate. I did stick a notation in Grand River (Ohio) and Lake County, Ohio due to the recent events, but that's it so far. What do you think? Jacqui 19:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Bernie si.jpg)

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bernie si.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Kevin 10:54, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I have removed this image from the Bernie Kosar article because it contained no content about the magazine, and therefore does not qualify as fair use. Kevin 12:54, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Ferdinand Schumacher

I made sure that it wasnt a copyright violation. You could even compare what I typed and what it showed on the website. Why would you delete my long essay about him and put in some tiny little stubbish aritcle!! And since you call it a violtion why wasnt their a warning first! Please comment on this on my talk at MarkDonna

Not sure where to go..

I guess the first thing on my list is to say hi. Secondly, I'm having a bit of a problem with a user on wikipedia. I've seen that you've had run-ins with him before and that you're an admin so you probably know what I should do or who I should report to regarding my problems so I thought I would ask you since I'm not sure what to do myself.

First of all the user South Philly (what I would call spammed) all of the pictures that I have taken of the Drexel University campus with the WikiProject Philadelphia tag. Quite honestly unless it's a vitally important photograph I don't think that a picture would merit a WikiProject Philadelphia tag (and with all the conflict I've had with this user I don't think I want them on there), but I am unsure of how wikiprojects work.

Second of all on the Drexel University talk page I've stated that I would like to expand the article, and make it into (what I hope to be) a Featured Article one day. My main problem with this guy is that he moved the alumni to a seperate page. Even that I don't have a problem with, as I was planning on doing it eventually, but he created it without discussing it first. I still didn't have a problem with that, but he named it Notable Drexel alumni and added a category of the same name. It was at that point that I posted on the talk page about naming conventions, and it should be moved, etc. After which, you posted, and I responded that it should probably be moved anyway since there are a few notable professors that can be added to a 'list of people' and I went ahead and moved it. I voted on the nomination for category renaming, stating that I had changed the name of the original article. South Philly then reverted the changes back to Notable Drexel alumni with the statement 'I moved it to a name that was closer to my original intent.' I responded 'thanks for involving us in your debate but please remember wikipedia is free, etc. And I'd like to get an admin involved since we're going to obviously conflict in other places' it was at that point where he became obviously rude and stated 'Whatever, I'm not going to f with this page any more.'

I guess that's pretty much a run-down of the whole debacle, quite honestly I don't want to interact with him anymore as I find him to be rude. As unfortunate as that is I do want this whole issue taken care of. Any advice? Places to go, people to talk to? Thanks I really appreciate any consideration you give this, and I'm sorry for the long read (it's probably a little confusing too). --ImmortalGoddezz 04:31, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

UK Cricket Grounds

I have already pointed out that I used the wrong CfD tag and so this proposal should not have gone into that process. The proposal is that the category is empty, is redundant and is any case describing an entity that does not exist. The tag I have used now is based on the category having been empty for more than four days as per the policy page.

As for disrupting the process, the practice of loading items into an empty category after it has been proposed for discussion is disruptive as it creates an impression that the category was not empty and that the proposal was wrongly placed, this misleading the readers. I know you personally did not do that but perhaps you should write to the person that did.

Meanwhile, this category is empty for the above-stated reasons. The main one being that to speak of cricket in UK terms is false and misleading. I think you will find that anyone who is a member of the cricket project will verify that fact. --BlackJack | talk page 13:32, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Aaahhh! The words "wood" and "trees" spring to mind. I didn't realise this was all part of a construction/buildings survey, obviously as I came at it from the purely cricketing angle. My apologies and thanks for pointing it out. If it's okay with you, I will withdraw my delete nomination. All the best. --BlackJack | talk page 14:46, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Spaming DRV

Please do not spam for votes for a DRV discussion or you may be blocked. DRV is a highly visible debate anyway. Consider this a friendly warning. --Doc 00:50, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, that was uncalled for, and a plain assumption of bad faith on my part. I'd hadn't really appreciated that there was a live cfd when I deleted the cats (no excuses for that), and I hadn't appreciated that you were contacting all those who'd expressed any opinion. I'm afraid you stepped into a rather stupid fight between me and others - and I reacted harshly to your honest opinions. Again sorry, I apologise without reservation. --Doc 13:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Reinsertion of "Comeback Cities" in Urban Planning

Hi EurekaLott. You removed a book reference in the article on Urban planning. It is a very classic and important book for the topic, especially on revival of extant urban areas, so I put it under a general bibliography. Bests. --- (Bob) Wikiklrsc 12:56, 15 September 2006 (UTC) (talk)

Hi. I noticed you speedy deleted this odd test category that Chuck Marean (talk · contribs) made: Category:!!!!aaaaCategories. Well, it seems he recreated it, with a slightly different re-direct this time. Deletion request

Eureka, could you please delete the earliest version of Image:Fountain of Eternal Life.jpg? I didn't realize that it was unacceptable when I uploaded it, so I changed it. The current version should be ok, but the first one should go. Thanks! Confiteordeo 20:33, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

One Daniel Burnham Court

Here is a link to what is there now. http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/cx/?id=114111 Seems to support your decision to axxx that section, though more looking is probably in order. Like, why IS it called Daniel Burnham Court? Carptrash 15:26, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Category:Dictionary Corner

I would ask you to re-evaluate your vote to delete the above category. The majority of those listed are regular guests and have been appearing on the show since the mid-1980's. Kenneth Williams was a regular guest from the shows inception in 1982 until his death. If this was a list of one off appearances I would agree with deleting it, but it isn't. Naturally I am biased as I created the category. (Quentin X 11:46, 12 October 2006 (UTC))

Barnstar

  The Original Barnstar
I very often see people saying "keep and cleanup" or "keep and expand" on AfD, but rarely see those people actually do the cleanup or the expansion themself. I am pleased to see there are exceptions. ODP cross-pollenation

I'm trying to formalize an effort to get more links to and from ODP and Wikipedia and to capture external links not wanted by Wikipedia for ODP. I'm hoping to pull this into a full-fledged WikiProject. Please see User:Wrathchild-K/ODP Project. I'd love your feedback. (There's also a discussion on the internal ODP editor forums.) —Wrathchild (talk) 17:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I was a bit surprised

to discover that you'd removed the references that I had used to make my addition [pictures] to Fountain of Eternal Life. If this reflects some new standard then there is going to be a lot of slashing and burning going on. I'm just curious as to your reasoning. Carptrash 16:04, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Your POV makes fine sense. My thought was that the caption to the picture is part of the article and thus the source for the info that created the caption belongs in the article. It seems to me that references about Marshall Fredericks should be included in any article about any of his works. If my Architectural Sculpture of America [unpublished] bothered you as a source, well I did interview Fredericks - but, in any case, it's gone now. Life is good. Carptrash 04:58, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I see that you are, and have been, a frequent editor at Louis Sullivan. I also note that almost all his banks are in red. Do you think they each warrent an article. I've been to them all except maybe Columbus, Wisconsin and could probably do something, but - is that Sullivan overkill? Carptrash 05:59, 29 October 2006 (UTC) by the way, a close look at some of the sources will reveal that they were done when I considered the Reference section to be a place where sources could be stockpiled, as it were. Do you think that I should remove those that are not really related to the article? The first, for example, I think is just where the picture of the building at the 1893 World's Fair came from? Not sure what to do??

Part of the reason

i am considering making each of Sullivan's banks an article is that they are all in red in his article and i am dedicated to turning all red ink to blue. Or at least black. I suppose if there were an article on all the bank the red ink in Sullivan's article could be linked to that, even if they all linked to the same place. Something like that. hmmmmm? Links removal

Thanks for your smug lecture about the links I added to certain Wikipedia articles. "Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product" ... perhaps you could explain which category those links came into, and how you can be so sure about that? I suspect you of jumping to conclusions. The site they came from is nothing to do with me, but seems to me to have good content that could be helpful to Wikipedia users (many of whom do use the site as a directory of links, whatever you may fondly hope). This is the first time I have tried to help Wikipedia. It will be the last. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.129.31.41 (talkcontribs) .

Ohio references/notes

Thanks for your help cleaning up my edits to Ohio. I see now why I was wrong in changing "References" to "Notes": they really are references after all. What confused me is that the references section is a numbered list. WP:LAYOUT describes a notes section as a numbered list, and a references section as a bulleted list. This example in particular confused me the most. --KeithB 03:49, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Otterbein College page

I was notified that my additions to the Otterbein College page were reverted because of plagiarism. I am the one who wrote this page, and none of it is plagiarized, as the words on the official college website are mine, too. I have been the Communications Coordinator at Otterbein College for seven years, and most of the general text is written by me. I put my office, the Office of Marketing and Communications, as the reference, because we are the gatekeeper of all college information. Not one word on this page is plagiarized. I was, in fact, assigned to make the page accurate, as much of the information shown on it was incorrect, including our endowment, our tuition, our enrollment, even our date of establishment. Both my office and the Office of Admission here at Otterbein requested that I update the page and make it accurate. I have re-posted our official information, and if you have any questions, please call our office at (614) 823-1600. Thank you! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jennyhill (talkcontribs) 14:43, 7 December 2006 (UTC).

No worries. You did not appear hostile at all, and all I was trying to do is put accurate information on the page, and more detailed information, as well. And I used our office as the reference, because we compile all our information from each and every department on campus, from athletics to the registrar to student affairs and beyond. I'm sure some of the problem arises from me being a new user and taking a crash course here. User Thomas.macmillan has been very hostile, however, and the college wishes to pursue the course of action of removing our listing altogether, and especially our logo, since it is copywrighted and permission was never asked or granted to use it. That permission is also granted through my office by one of my coworkers. Thank you, however for being an understanding monitor of the site. I wish they were all like you.

Removed contribution on External Links

You recently removed my addition to restrictions on external linking without giving any explanation. I placed a section on the talk page with an example and why I felt it was necessary. I was hoping that you would comment there after you reverted my edit explaining why this restriction is either unnecessary or invalid.

WP has a specific guideline that restricts "Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services" yet this same information can be re-created on self-publishing websites and linked to from WP. This is not a theoretical exercise.

I have observed the edit wars that have been going on WP:EL article for the last month or so. I have no interest in reverting my addition because I do believe consensus and agreement are critical here. I would appreciate your comments. Calltech 16:15, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
