Edits to wikipedia using the RKD database edit

Hello EllenHodges and thanks for your good faith edits to Dutch Golden Age painters. I personally enjoy clicking on live links to public data on these painters, so I appreciate the time you take to fix broken links and add new ones. However, I saw that you recently broke a link to the RKD database from the Frans Hals page. Since the new link doesn't work for me, I can only guess what it is that you saw that you wanted to link. Instead of trying to retrace your steps, I decided to give you a tip how to avoid this in future. In the RKD entry (whether the database choice is "artists" or "images"), at the bottom of the page is a link you can use to link the page directly from a website. If you use the link from your browser, you get a link that only works for the session of your browser at that point in time. Even if the link works for you today, it will not work for you from another computer or perhaps a week from now. If you have trouble understanding what I mean, please let me know. I tried to explain this on the wikipedia page for the RKD, but apparently I haven't been very successful, as this is a common mistake. Jane (talk) 10:56, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting me know, I've already fixed the link I accidentally broke. I used the Google translator to understand what this meant "Gebruik de volgende URL om deze pagina vanuit uw website te linken:" and now I have a better grasp on how the RKD links work. Thanks again. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
