February 2017 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Malazan Book of the Fallen has been reverted.
Your edit here to Malazan Book of the Fallen was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://malazan.wikia.com/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to an external Wiki, then please note that these links should generally not be included (see 'links to avoid' #12).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page.   Hello, I'm XLinkBot. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Steven Erikson have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Gardens of the Moon. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it.

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Ian Cameron Esslemont. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Best fantasy since LotR edit

I note in your post at EAR that "The Malazan Book of the Fallen [is] arguably the best fantasy series since The Lord of the Rings." I'd like to comment on that, but to do so here would violate OWNTALK since it would not "be directed solely toward the improvement of the encyclopedia." If you'd like to activate an email address (on the first tab of your preferences page) and ping me here, I'd be happy to email you. Regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 06:59, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@TransporterMan: Hope I have this pinging business worked out correctly :) I would prefer not to activate an e-mail address, however, if you wish to get in touch and talk Tolkien/Erikson, you can always leave a message on my Malazan Wiki Talk page or register on the Malazan Empire Forum and send me a PM there. Both sites are easily found by google. I go by the same name on the Wiki and just Egwene on the forum. Regards, Egwene of the Malazan Empire (talk) 17:13, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
You got the ping right. But I think I'll pass on learning another site and, truly, what I had to say was no big deal, just my personal opinions about the best fantasy based on 40+ years of reading it. Those opinions and a nickle won't buy you a cup of coffee these days, so you're not missing much, just an old codger's ramblings. Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 20:23, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, if you change your mind at any time... you do not even need to register to post on the Malazan Wiki and it is simple compared to the minefield of regulations this place is. And on the forum, a simple registration is all that is needed to post. There is a dedicated 'other literature' board there as well and I am sure that there would be a number of users interested in the topic. Hope to see you there sometime. In the meantime, don't worry, Tolkien's corner is well represented - one of my best friends could probably recite the books backwards.
