Speedy deletion nomination of The Eric Hoffer Award

A tag has been placed on The Eric Hoffer Award requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Eric Hoffer Award

In this edit, you removed everything about the Hoffer Award from Christopher Klim, with the comment Mischaracterizes the award [to] belittle it this way. Better not to mention it at all.

The text may have mischaracterized the award. I hope it didn't, but I don't know for sure. By comparison with the reality, the text may for all I know have belittled the award. However, I don't see how the text says or suggests anything bad about the award. In short, I don't know what the problem is.

It's sometimes necessary to delete even reliably sourced information from within an article -- for example, when the sources have been chosen to further a particular view of the subject, resulting in a distorted account. But the right way to do this is to announce your intention within the article's talk page and get agreement in advance. (An obvious problem arises: being outnumbered on the talk page by editors who are ignorant, stupid and/or malicious. But you could thereupon appeal here and new faces would join the discussion.)

Moreover, Eric Hoffer Award and The Eric Hoffer Award both redirect to Klim. Neither can be deleted without bureaucratic rigmarole.

I'm therefore about to revert your deletion. If reliable sources show that there is something wrong with the description of the Award, do please correct the description. If there's some other problem here, do say what it is in the article's talk page. -- Hoary (talk) 03:21, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

The rationale for deleting the Hoffer Award entry from Klim is simple. He's only the chair and will be stepping down this year. Once a decision (and I feel wrongly) to delete the Hoffer from its own entry was made, it seemed silly to have it listed under Klim. It's like putting and explanation of IBM under one of it's former managers. So please remove all links to the Hoffer Award and the subcategory under Klim. --Egress13
