License tagging for File:C-295 for PAF being tested in Spain.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:C-295 for PAF being tested in Spain.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 08:05, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Image deleted edit

I have just deleted File:C-295 for PAF being tested in Spain.jpg which you uploaded under a blatantly false claim that it was licensed under a Creative Commons license - it obviously was not. You will be blocked if this occurs again. Please see WP:COPYRIGHT. Nick-D (talk) 08:24, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I see that you also uploaded a image to Commons under a false copyright claim and linked to it here. I have blocked your account. If you want to be unblocked, please use the appeal process described in the template below, and explain how you will edit in line with Wikipedia's rules around copyright. Nick-D (talk) 08:33, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for adding deliberate copyright violations to a Wikipedia article. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Nick-D (talk) 08:33, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I didn't know which license to use. I'll be carefull next time. How come there was no warning of being blocked?

Accept reason:

Unblocked per discussion and terms below - user agreed to stop uploading files. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:31, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Careful how? Can you explain what will you do next time you want to upload an image? Max Semenik (talk) 09:19, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Max Semenik (talk) I might stop uploading other images other than its my own, even then, the use of licensure confuses me, so i don't know which ones really. I thought it was fine till i got blocked. So i'll leave that to people who understands it better. Besides its not a false claim, its confusion and not knowing how to upload images with license to use. Efram23 (talk) 09:41, 15 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

You can only upload files that have a compatible free licence; under a licence such as CC-BY-SA 3.0, an image on Wikipedia may be printed and sold in a book, provided credit is given to the original authors (that's where the attribution comes in). If a file is not your own work, and does not have an obvious compatible licence (non-commercial only is not acceptable, for example), do not upload it. I am happy to unblock you on the condition that you promise not to upload any more files, and if I see you doing this, you agree to be reblocked indefinitely. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:50, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ritchie333 I agree, i tried to upload images while i don't really understand how to use the license thing. I'll try to understand it first and refrain from uploading till then. I was hesitant to upload images then, and this is why, i got in trouble with the license thing. Efram23 (talk) 10:07, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Ritchie333 I appreciate it.

If you experience similar problems, ask for help. Given that the images in question were were prominently marked as "this photo is copyright protected and may not be used in any way without proper permission" [1], I don't see how you could have been confused. Nick-D (talk) 11:14, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Nick-D (talk) Not confused, i didn't notice it or forgot it. What i'm confused with is the how to use the license thing. Anyway now i know thanks for informing me. I think even if i upload my originial photos i'll get in trouble with choosing the license part. Anyway,i'll try reading it all first. Thanks for the unblock hope i don't get it again. Efram23 (talk) 11:58, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

In my experience, file copyrights are one of the most difficult things for newcomers to understand, and the best advice I can give is - if in doubt, don't! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:51, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Noted. Ritchie333 (talk) Efram23 (talk) 11:58, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Use of Unreliable Sources edit

Hi Efram, just want to remind you to avoid using unreliable sources like Tankler, which you did in one of your recent edits. Instead, try to use either mainstream media and non-blog sources. Thank you.Phichanad (talk) 01:12, 21 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Phichanad (talk) Right, thanks for the reminder. Hope you replaced with a more reliable source. Efram23 (talk) 01:26, 21 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'll let you do that :) Phichanad (talk) 01:46, 21 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you can spare the time to read WP:IUP and MOS:IMG you may discover why this was a less than optimal edit. Many of my edits are in an attempt to reduce WP:SANDWICHING and bring articles more into compliance with our image policies. BushelCandle (talk) 05:23, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

it's also not a good idea to mark edits as "minor" when they're flouting policy - unwittingly or not... BushelCandle (talk) 05:23, 29 March 2016 (UTC) ..Reply
