Do not misuse warning templates.

Re this edit, please don't misuse warning templates. I've seen the diff in question, and you claim the edit summary to be a personal attack. "No, damn it" is not a personal attack. Note that misuse of warning templates can get you blocked for incivility and disruption. Instead, try acting in a more calm manner. Cheers, – Chacor 18:47, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

It seems to me that you have acted in an uncivil manner on my talk page. It is important to keep a cool head, despite any comments against you. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and action can be taken against the other parties if necessary. Your involvement in attacking back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors, and lead to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! – Chacor 02:26, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Misusing them? "Mind your own business" is most definitely incivil. I'll remind you that this is a wiki and anyone has the right to edit any page as they see fit (of course, the admins will take appropriate action against those which aren't supposed to happen). You are violating WP:OWN - keep in mind that you don't "own" your user talk page. – Chacor 01:57, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Please do not troll. – Chacor 02:30, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

NPA

Please don't assume that my comments are a personal attack. I said "No, damn it." because your edit was stupid, and I'm sick of explaining my reasoning to Esperanza members. I was commenting on content, not the contributor. There's a difference between "damn it" and "Damn you, Leroyencyclopediabrown" (and I used the former on purpose). Ed, please don't leave! Why don't you take a long wikibreak if you need one to reconsider things, and then maybe you'll decide to come back. Your contributions are invaluable to the project! —Mets501 (talk) 19:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Please don't leave. Take a wikibreak if you need to. Or participate in something very non-controversial like grammar fixes or disambiguation repair. We do value you and your contributions! --Tachikoma 01:16, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Translation Request

Hi. You requested a translation of some Celine Dion lyrics from French to English. I see that you removed the lyrics from the page yourself, so there's nothing left to translate. It seems you forgot to remove the translation request, though. I hope you don't mind that I did it for you. --Storkk 11:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Ah, so you're still alive on Wikipedia. Good for you. I had assumed from previous comments on your talk page that you were gone semi-permanently. Stick around. The more editors the better... To reply to your comment, yes, I realize that this was a month ago, but I have only just (since the day before yesterday) begun translating articles. I removed it precisely because it was so old and dead. Anyway, if there are any more translations you would like from French to English, please add them to the list, or alternatively, to my talk page (though I reserve the right to refuse to do any of them, if I disagree with them). Glad you're back on wikipedia! Keep the spirits up. (By the way, please sign your posts on my talk page in the future, using ~~~~). Thanks, Storkk 01:29, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
I am offering to help, if there's anything I can do. I'd much rather keep an editor that is obviously useful to wikipedia than drive them away. I've seen some of the controversy -- I can't say you are blameless, but I think everyone has room to learn. Let me know if I can help, Storkk 01:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Not a big issue -- and I've fixed it on my own talk page, but please don't use {{unsigned}} without piping it (i.e. adding a "|Username"). To see why, please see my talk page history. No worries, just info for the future. --Storkk 02:28, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy by persistently disrupting Chacor's talk page by reposting the same message seven times to make a point despite warnings to stop by 3rd parties. Request reason:

I have been accused of trolling 7 times, when I did it 5 times. The first two edits were NOT trolling, only the edits that LED to the trolling. Also, after reffering to Wikipedia:What is a troll, there is a statement saying "Administrators are not empowered to block usernames for "trolling", although some accounts used for little other purpose have been blocked for this reason and have remained blocked." I cannot be blocked for violating WP:POINT because I was not warned of violating WP:POINT. Instead, I was warned for trolling, which I can't be blocked for because I have made other contributions than trolling. In addition, Chacor has made NO RESPONSE to my trolling except in his edit summaries, which I really think isn't right. If Chacor has a problem with me, them he should talk to me himself.

Please include a decline or accept reason.

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. IT wasn't that is was the evade of her block which was for other reasons. (Sockpupperting, inpersonations, VAndalism ect) Æon Insanity Now!EA! 21:54, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I never accused her of the child policy I just said this the a use that claims to be this 11 year old user. that is all I said. I wasn't even aware of the policy until you posted it. I only brought it up because of the past issues and the fact that she blantly said who she was. Æon Insanity Now!EA! 22:04, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Here is the report I made in fact

Hello this user has clamed to be this 11 year old blocked user. Christy06 posted on addmisson on Leroyencyclopediabrown's talk page. Cute 1 4 U has a history of sock abuse. Æon Insanity Now!EA! 01:58, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

I never said she was in violation of the policy (Which I wasn't aware of but thought was a general rule of thumb). And I do beleave in that policy's spirit (If not its letter) when In Real Life information concerns may come up. My biggest issue with her is the sockpuppet, vandalism and abuse of other editors. Æon Insanity Now!EA! 22:09, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Anniversary

Man, it's too bad that we missed it! That would have been a really fantastic celebration. If you'd like to propose the holiday committee, feel free to add it to the proposals page! Usually though, celebrations have just been organized informally, or suggested at a council meeting; in the past we've had christmas (I believe) and valentines day celebrations, which we'll certainly continue. Thanks for bringing up the anniversary, I'll see if I can do something belatedly... I have an idea, maybe -- Natalya 02:41, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Crystal, you're not helping in your case. When your Cute 1 4 u account was blocked, I tried to find a solution to getting you unblocked. Re: Results of the AC Meeting

Hey Ed,

Sorry, we should have made that all clearer; you've actually given me a good idea, that instead of just leaving the information in the log, to summarize what happened for each program. The whole discussion is in the log, but the idea seemed to be covered by most of the calednar already, and many people already give holiday greetings around Christmas and other holidays. It could be somewhat problematic trying to decide which holidays to celebrate and which not to, also. But don't let that stop you from giving people lots of holiday wishes! And you've made us aware of Esperanza's birthday, which is fantastic. If you have any other questions, definitly let me know. -- Natalya 02:00, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Oh my goodness, Ed, I have to offer you my most sincerest apologies; I don't know if I misunderstood what I read, or just didn't read your suggestion very well, but for some reason I equated it to the Holiday Committe, and therefore did not bring it up for discussion; I am so sorry, I cannot believe I missed that, and I offer you my sincerest apologies for not taking care of it. My initial thoughts on the matter are that most programs that work well with someone overseeing them usually get adopted by user(s) once they go into effect; examples of this are the User Page Award and the Barnstar Brigade, which are informally run by members of the Esperanza community. If you think something more official would be useful, please let me know, and I'll bring it up with the rest of the council post-meeting to get their opinions.
By the way, did I mistakenly express somewhere that I was leaving as admin gen? I'm not planning to (though after this mix-up, my abilities could certainly be brought into question :) ). Just wondering. Thanks for understanding my mix-up. -- Natalya 03:46, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Nope, you didn't interpret the charter incorrectly (thankfully, it's pretty straightforward). Once the new council is elected, the Admin Gen is chosen by the council; it can be the same person, it can be a different person - so it will be up to the council to see what happens! -- Natalya 22:54, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
You should get involved in politics or government, Ed! You certainly seem to like lots of organization. :) (FYI, it's the job of the council members to handle any people acting un-Esperanzial, which means it is dealt with but a big deal is not made about it). -- Natalya 23:02, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!

Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy

Hi. You contributed to the discussion at Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy. If you have the time and interest, I'm asking contributors to past a brief summary of their position on the proposal here, thanks. Herostratus 20:06, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ed. I saw your comment on WP:CHILD and I decided to be bold and update the policy to address one of your concerns. I, for one, am encouraged by youth participation in Wikipedia - I firmly believe that young people who are willing to take responsibility for a portion of humanity's knowledge ought to be cultivated and encouraged to stay with the project. However, the sexual harrassment board is, I think, something a little bit outside the bounds of this particular proposal. That's a more global concern; WP:CHILD is meant to specifically address children, while a sexual harrassment policy addresses every editor. May I suggest that instead we work together on a new guideline to cover sexual harrassment in general and allow WP:CHILD to stand on its own for now? Captainktainer * Talk 21:26, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, have not been able to do the necessary research on the proposed policy yet. Two papers due tomorrow, start work Thursday. Will not have anything before Friday at the earliest. Especially need to find out what OTRS procedures are in place for handling sexual harrassment, what existing policies exist, that sort of thing. Captainktainer * Talk 04:56, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Election

Hi Ed, I noticed you've voted on the Esperanza election. I'm volunteering as an election official and part of my job is to validate all votes are from members. I was looking through the list and could not find your name[1]. I was wondering if you go under an alternate name or if your name was possible removed. Thanks. Yes I've found your name under that, so it's all cleared up. I'll make sure the vote gets counted accordingly. Thanks. Canadian-Bacon t c e 01:48, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey

Look, I just read your stress report. I may not have that much stress from school yet, but I know that school is really stressful sometimes. Just commit yourself to working hard. Just concentrate, and get the teachers to listen. File complaints, get your parents to, whatever it takes. Just don't let this project or Runescape distract you for a while. Once you find a little free time, use it, but stay commited to doing your work, and I think that you'll be fine. Feel better!Hemhem20X6 02:40, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Good, I'm glad it's not as bad as I thought. And it's good not to play Runescape too. I just hope you're able to get back on track with your school now.Hemhem20X6 03:18, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Ease up on the studying a bit if you feel it would help to avoid stressing out and don't worry, it will all be over before you realize it. I look back and high school feels like it lasted for a week and was a 100 years ago.. and i'm not even that old! Roadmr 17:43, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
