I have not looked at it yet, but wanted to give you an unbiased answer. Sure i'll look at it. Your challenge is to establish WP:N and WP:BIO can be very helpful too. If you are able to meet those requirements using WP:RS and WP:V then not only will i change my mind, but my opinion wouldn't even matter, since you'll have the winning argument. good luck dude.CholgatalK! 04:08, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

FICTWARN and non-television invocations
I've seen a number of AfDs lately where the injunction was invoked as a rationale for keeping an article, even though the subject of the article was in no way related to television. How does the injunction apply to characters from books or podcasts? DarkAudit (talk) 15:37, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- My understanding is that FICTWARN applies to all fictional characters, but you may wish to request clarification from the Arbitration Committee. --Eastmain (talk) 15:58, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- Reading the text of the injunction, it only mentions television series episode or character. DarkAudit (talk) 16:19, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
The Great Canadian Travel Company Ltd
Greetings Eastmain. I've had a look at the sources you've added to the article, but I still feel the company lacks notability. What the article needs is coverage from mainstream news organizations. These links do not provide sufficient coverage of the company itself, only of the products and destinations it offers. Also, as Wikidemo notes in the ADF, "Any newspaper "article" ... that goes down a list of offerings and ends with the phone number to call ... does not look like the kind of impartial editorial process that would verify the claims or establish that the subject is worth noting." Think outside the box 11:51, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you
Thanks for telling me about the bot that removes AfDs from deletion lists. I've noticed a bot (The wubbot) removing some in recent weeks. However, it does not leave a link in the edit summary, or indicate which article it removed. I've been leaving a link so people who have the list on their Watch list can click it. Are you talking about the same bot? If so, it may be worthwhile for me to continue as long as the bot does not put a link in the edit summary. But if a bot does that, I'll retire gladly. In any case, I'm grateful to you for leaving the notice. Fg2 (talk) 03:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the further suggestions. I've left a note on the talk page of The wub asking about the summaries. Regarding the archive page, I wasn't even aware of it. I've added it to my watch list and I'll list pages I remove in the archives. Useful information. Fg2 (talk) 05:06, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Grant Robertson
An editor has nominated Grant Robertson, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Grant Robertson and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 02:59, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
There is an ongoing discussion of a proposal to merge WP:PROF into WP:BIO at Wikipedia talk: Notability (academics). Since you have commented in AfD discussions for articles about academics, you may want to participate in the discussion of this merge proposal. Regards, Nsk92 (talk) 12:19, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

You'll find it at User:Eastmain/Marci Lipman. Please ensure it passes WP:BIO in the next few days. Drop me a line when it's ready to go back into mainspace. I'm disappointed (for you) that you didn't get a speedy notice - I'll mention it to the tagger. --Dweller (talk) 20:40, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's better, no question of that, but the RS contain at best (to my mind) fairly trivial references to the subject. I propose to move it to mainspace but immediately list it for AfD. Would you be happy with that, or do you think you can improve it further? --Dweller (talk) 08:59, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi. Not had a reply to that last message. If I've not heard from you in the next couple of days, I'll do exactly that. --Dweller (talk) 11:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I actually removed my speedy deletion for this article because I noticed (too late) that it was tagged for speedy before. However, just wanted to note that neither the Google News hits nor the reference provided in the article speaks to the label's importance, significance or notability. All they confirm is that the label exists. I was planning on PRODing this article, am I correct in assuming you would object? If so I'll go right to AFD. Thanks! Richc80 (talk) 04:37, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed that there might be some industry-specific sources out there, hopefully the PROD & Speedy Delete notices I am placing will help spur the discovery of those sources by interested editors in the know. Even if the articles are deleted, recreation once sources are found would be easy as none of the articles have any significant content. Thanks for your feedback. 11B
Bad article, which missed the fact that there were actually nine 11Bs, not just one. And I wouldn't redirect 11A to Avenue Road, either, as there were also historically 11As in Muskoka and Thunder Bay as well. They probably should be kept as separate articles, though, because Highway 11 is already pretty damn long and doesn't need subsections on twelve different spur routes to make it even longer — but also, realistically, we should only really do one article on each designation which has subsections on all of the routes that bore that number, because the 11A and 11B routes were all pretty short and are almost all now defunct anyway. Something like what I've already done at Highway 17B would probably be best. Bearcat (talk) 16:53, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and just to clarify, my "bad article" snark was directed at the original creator, not at you. Bearcat (talk) 00:19, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Notability of Palmer Candy Company
A tag has been placed on Palmer Candy Company requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Philosopher Let us reason together. 21:29, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Dendrite International
A tag has been placed on Dendrite International requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The Hero Status
Hi. I noticed that you removed the speedy tag from The Hero Status because there is "substantial coverage in reliable source". I'm not sure that a student-run website reporting a student band coming second in a battle of the bands competition is enough to establish notability so I'm thinking about taking it to AfD. Any thoughts? Cordless Larry (talk) 18:37, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

- Also, any thoughts on my comments about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Westlake, County Londonderry above? Cordless Larry (talk) 18:39, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- You are probably right. Even if it does not qualify as a village, it may still be notable, though. I expect that there may have been substantial coverage in reliable sources about the planning, environmental and construction issues associated with this housing development, so it may be a notable subdivision. --Eastmain (talk) 05:31, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
You removed the speedy from this article by simply saying "Article asserts notability." It is a very short article that is sourced only by it's own website. Normally, that is not sufficient to show notability. I searched and couldn't find any qualified WP:RS to show it's a notable article subject. Would please explain what kind of notability you claim it asserts? Thank you. OccamzRazor (talk) 21:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Callide Power Station, Queensland
Thanks for your input on this power station in Queensland article but it wasn't very useful. I am not a resident of the US and have no local library barcode to provide so I can't read articles at accessmylibrary.com. I'm not sure of the exact policy but I don't think it is appropriate to add links including references, from sites requiring registration or payment, see WP:EL.
Also I only add inline citations when referencing material so that exact facts, statements, etc can be verified by others more easily and so that the significant information is contained within Wikipedia. My feeling is that almost anyone can do a quick google search and make a list of links, while adding content with relevant citations is more valuable. Also I never type in all capitals and convert copied text if needed so that the text is easy to read. - Shiftchange (talk) 06:08, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division
We really have a problem in works of the Philippine Gov't and this has been posted in WP:PINOY a hundred of times. Please bear with me on this one.
Sec 176 of the Philippine Intellectual Property Code says that prior approval from the gov't is needed if the works will be used for profit. I know that wiki is non-profit but mirrors such as Answers.com is for profit. I just thought that wiki shouldn't be a part in a sort of infringement as the Phil. govt. will surely want royalties (I interviewed a gov't lawyer before and I'm pretty sure that's what "prior approval" means). I think I'll go with the stubifying of the article if that solves the infringement.--Lenticel (talk) 00:52, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

AfD discussions and Google
Could you please read WP:AGF before leaving borderline-patronizing messages on other editors' Talk Pages? I happen to run Google searches before putting articles up for AfD consideration, so please don't assume otherwise. Ecoleetage (talk) 23:15, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I question whether three repetitious articles from one local newspaper would qualify as notable, but I will leave that to the other editors to decide. In future, however, please reconsider how you approach people if you have questions about their judgment and contributions to this project. Ecoleetage (talk) 23:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

User:CHINAwoMAN user page
There is something strange going on with the user page of this new user. He/she copied a portion of your user page including some of your awards. There is also an open sockpuppet case involving that user at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Oingoboing69. I am not sure what all this is about, but you might want to take a look into it and maybe comment in that sock case discussion. Also, although it is not customary for one user to edit another user's page, in this case it may not be a bad idea to do that and maybe blank the content of User:CHINAwoMAN's user page. Adjusters International
The references (which I did look at) do not take away from the fact that this was obviously posted by someone within the organization for the sole purpose of promoting the company. This immediately goes to AfD. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:41, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Avondale
Way cool. Where'd you find the ref? I was coming up empty. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 02:37, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- When I see an article about a place name in the United States with little or no context, I visit the United States Geological Survey's Geographic Names Information System at http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic and try to get details on it, which I then add using the {{Gnis}} template. The GNIS database is quite comprehensive. Other countries have similar systems, such as http://atlas.gc.ca for Canada and http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/ for Great Britain. --Eastmain (talk) 02:46, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
TfD nomination of Template:Adwnote
Template:Adwnote has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. tgies (talk) 05:38, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi, i agree that he might be notable, but as the article stands, to me it's still just an ad for the author himself, and that's not NPOV. IMHO if it should stay, it needs a complete rewrite. If he were that notable, he didn't have to write it himself. But I appreciate your point of view, even though I dont agree. Kind regards, Shoombooly (talk) 02:09, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, it certainly doesn't qualify for speedy deletion now. A lot of folks probably wouldn't have bothered with the a1 in that context, but I take the position that I don't know whether there will be any efforts to improve what is there. At this point, I think the bigger issue is whether or not there should be an article about the commission. If what is there now is all that can really be said about it, merging the content is probably more appropriate. A complication arises there, though -- the Portland, Oregon article is way too big and needs to be split up. I'd think ideally, somebody will come in and do that work. In the process, this may end up getting merged somewhere. Erechtheus (talk) 03:49, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch for saving GSWAN. Keep up the good work. dilli2040(Talk) 19:27, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Brittany Madelynn Daniels
A tag has been placed on Brittany Madelynn Daniels requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:53, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Eastmain ...
First of all, I want to thank you for cleaning up my incomplete nomination ... Too Many tabs open at the same time, and an emergency interrupts me, and I neglect a SAVE ... <Heavy Sigh!>
Anywho, this article got some good WP:V over the next few days, so I dropped it from Category:Flagged articles, and I withdrew the AFD ... by my reckoning, that's still a Good Thing! :-)
Hey, if you change my mind, then I'll express a different opinion.

Clair
Fair enough. All it read as in the original edit was "Clair is located 200 km north of Regina. It's also 200 km east of Saskatoon. Prince Albert is 230 km north of Clair and Yorkton is 150 km east of Clair." From that I couldn't determine anything about what "Clair" actually was. Ironholds 01:12, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

A Tech Company Trying to Stay on Wiki
Hi Eastmain,
A while back you saved The Hoffman Agency's Wiki from a speedy demise.
I did add a couple references, though the company is pretty small so there isn't a lot written about them.
So now this technology company keeps getting their Wiki taken down. The way I hear it, the wiki is torn down just one day.
Tomorrow we're going to take a look at why they haven't had a pleasant reception in the Wiki community - most probably because they had links to product downloads in the Wiki.
Anyways, I was hoping when we get it up you could take a look and give us any tips on what needs to be done to be accepted into the Business and Economics WikiProject.
What do you say?
-David —Preceding unsigned comment added by David44357 (talk • contribs) 22:48, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- The article needs references to establish notability. If the company and its products haven't been written about, then the article will almost certainly be deleted. You need to show how the company is notable. --Eastmain (talk) 00:45, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for adding the references for the polish painter. I saw a post on metafilter lamenting the lack of one, why the guy didn't do one himself is beyond me. Anyway, another hole is filled. Well done. Nick mallory (talk) 03:35, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:El Cabrillo Courtyard.JPG
Hi Eastmain. You beat me to the punch in tagging the El Cabrillo photo. I was in process of switching images. The image is now used in the article on El Cabrillo apartments, a site listed in the National Register of Historic Places, under a fair use rationale described on the image page. Let me know if you would consider removing the speedy delete tag. Cbl62 (talk) 01:57, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- I see that you added a new rationale for the speedy delete tag. The notation says: "If you think the image should not be deleted, please discuss the matter with the editor who placed this template on the image." For the reasons noted on the image page, I think this is a legitimate fair use in very low resolution. The interior courtyard is of high historical significance but is not a public space and no public domain photographs are known. Can you let me know what can be done to address your concerns with the photograph? Cbl62 (talk) 02:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I included a brief note of explanation at the link you provided. Cbl62 (talk) 02:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
