Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Content from the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers website edit

I don't doubt what you say but you can't prove that you are the webmaster for the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers. In any event the content of that website is copyrighted unless shown otherwise e.g. it's specifically released on the website under a {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} licence or permission to reuse the content is established by the other methods described at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Even then, things like the mission statement should ideally be rewritten in a neutral phrasing and written in the third party. Nthep (talk) 18:47, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, appreciate your concerns. All very frustrating to have to go through the process of re-writing copy and getting it approved by various committees! However, the first point was to ensure that our current master name was correct, which thankfully is now up to date. We then wanted to have some more up to date text about us and our diversity and inclusion and what we do, and of course that text has to been specifically written and approved by the D&I task force.
I can prove who I am, you can see that I am on the company structure on the website that I am 'assistant to the court' and you can email me at webmaster@pattenmakers.co.uk and I would respond!
I shall speak to my colleagues today and explain the issues, and perhaps ask the Chair of the Communications Committee if they would prepare some fresh text for me to put on the site.
Kind regards,
David Emanuel
Assistant to the Court.

@E-davidwiki: If your position with the company is a paid position, you must also disclose this information in accordance with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure policy.
Also note that as the company's webmaster, you have an inherent conflict of interest and should never edit the article about your company directly. Instead you should suggest changes in the form of edit requests on the article's talk page.
Wikipedia articles are paraphrased summaries of previously published material from reliable, third-party sources. We have little interest in what a company/organization wishes to say about itself. Apart from basic facts and figures, primary sources associated with the subject lack the required independence and won't be used.
Please also realize that the subject of an article has no right of ownership or control over the article's content. Wikipedia is a collaborative project, with the goal of reaching consensus. Disputes over content should be raised on the article talk page through a process of civil discussion and compromise. If that fails to resolve the disagreement, further dispute resolution processes are available. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:30, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
