Calvary Chapel

Please use the "Show preview" button to test your changes, rather than submitting 30 edits in a row. It really makes it rather difficult to see what was changed. Also, please see Wikipedia's policies on reliable sources, verifiability, and biographies of living persons. Controversial content about living persons, such as [1] must be well-sourced. Just linking to Smith's website does not demonstrate (1) that he made the statements in question or (2) that it has been criticized. Reliable sources should be news media outlets. Is there a news story about Smith or Calvary Chapel being criticized for those comments? (Not just some guy's rant on his blog, but an actual news story from a reliable source demonstrating that the criticism is notable) If so, please feel free to readd it as properly sourced content. --B (talk) 02:55, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Books about Smith/Solomon's Temple

Do you personally have these books in your possession and do they mention Chuck Smith by name? Do these books actually say that he plans to blow up the building or do they merely refer to the religious belief that at some point in the future, Israel is going to rebuild the temple and that at some point in the future, someone (be it Israel, God personally, a terrorist, whatever) is going to move the Dome of the Rock out of the way to make that happen? There's a big difference between believing that something will happen (most conservative Christians believe that the temple will be rebuilt at some point) and plotting to make it happen. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Calvary Chapel. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. The IP user removing those criticism may be a member of the church; I especially think their edit summary here tends to be evidence of that. It looks like most of it remains in the article; if there is more removal of content, I'd say to tag the article with {{coi}}. Hi Dvanduyse. Are you still looking for someone to help with mediation on the Calvary Chapel page? I am willing to help. I noticed the COI tag this evening and have looked into the history and talk page a little bit. To give you some disclosure, I grew up in a Calvary Chapel (was there about 20 years) but now fellowship in a different denomination. I have some sympathy both with supporters and detractors of CC, and I feel I could provide an informed but impartial voice to help find a compromise. One caveat: I am quite busy in real life, so please do not expect me to be available more often than once every day or two, and please do not expect me to read pages upon pages of material.

I have recently been going through the edit history of the Calvary Chapel wiki page, it seems there is a non-NPOV situation that has brewed. In fact, most of the page has been revitalized over the last few years, where many of the criticisms of the church no longer exist -- in spite of them being fully referenced.
