Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I just thought I should inform you that the (citation needed) tag does not necessarily mean that something might not be a fact, it simply means that a source should be cited in order to allow readers to verify the claim. It doesn't help saying "it's a fact" in the history log, because when reading the article, people won't see it, and they might think it is actually original research. If you know any source (website, book) that could serve as a reference to the claim (that it's the second largest French university after the Sorbonne), I suggest you put in the article. For a general guide on how to cite sources on Wikipedia, make sure you check out Wikipedia:Citing sources. In this case, since your source isn't online, it should be cited as a reference at the end of the article (being an UdeM student, like myself, I assume you know how to properly cite sources). The best way to do this is by using footnotes, but if you find this technique too complicated, you can cite it as you would in a class report, by first using an author-date reference between parenthesis, and then adding a complete source information at the bottom of the article. Since there are currently no sources cited in the Université de Montréal article, you should probably create a new section named "References" for this :) --Ludvig 22:38, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Kjarr article

Dear Dusis, I am sorry that the disagreement which arose over this article has upset Berig, who is a helpful and productive editor. I do not know what the three theories are exactly, but if (as I thought I saw on the discussion page) he is inviting you to add and reference the two alternative theories, then that is your (or anyone's) privilege as a wiki editor - even if he is not inviting you! Can you not add them (if you haven't)? It is a shame for him to be so badly put out when he has made such a lot of useful contributions. All your comments seem very polite. Do you think it might be possible to attempt some reconciliation? Dr Steven Plunkett 15:37, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment, I'm the first to regret the locked positions regarding the article. Regarding User:Berig, he has made many interesting and good contributions and I for one do not want to see him leave. Having said that, I must also say that he has a very strong tendency to 'adopt' one theory and then try to suppress all other theories - I've seen him do this in other articles as well. In the article about Kjarr I cannot see how it could be justified to focus on just one the theories in existence, not when the only source for that theory is an unreferenced sentence. I hope User:Berig decides to stay and contribute to Wikipedia, but I also hope he changes this tendency to think that it is up to Wikipedia editors to advocate just one out of many theories. The post was neither condescending nor insulting, it was asking for information that you either were not able to give or not willing to give, and you were quick to removed my comments questiong your edit to your archives. I generally try to keep discussions polite and I would recommend you to act likewise. Seeing that you are a moderator on Wikipedia, I am surprised to see you act in the way you are doing. Try to remember that this in an encyclopedia and that everybody gains from polite discussions and from users being willing to explain why they have made the edits they have made.
