Family Trees edit

I used Template:Familytree to build the template for the Template:Henry Ford family tree if you go there you can see the actual markup (code). There is a pretty good description of how to use this template at Template talk:Familytree. It depends on how much you know about template syntax if its easy or hard to explain though I will give it a try.

Basically, the template creates a table, and each use of the template is one row in the table. For example:

{{familytree | | | | GRM |~|y|~| GRP | | GRM=Grandma|GRP=Grandpa}}

will be rendered:

GrandmaGrandpa

The template has two suptemplates {{familytree/start}} and {{familytree/end}} which are actually just the start and end of a the talbe tags (and a place where you can put any special styles on them like {{familytree/start|style=font-size:50%%;}} if you want the font smaller or want diffrent colors or whatever. How it works is that each space between the | | ends up being one cell in the final tree. The template reconizes some special characters and replaces them with the correct images (This is how the Chess psotion and Game of Go position templates work as well)). There is a good section explainning this a lot better than I am doing at Template talk:Familytree. The ony major diffrence with the chess template is that this one has an extra layer of substitution. The boxes with the members of the tree in them are three cells wide but some peopls names are more than 5 characters long (3 because three spaces and two |'s). As such, you have to creat an abbriviation of the peopls names then at the end of the same row put that abriviation and = and then the info to put in the box. I like to do it with 5 letters for the abbriv. even though the example above uses 3 and two spaces. Remember that multiple people on the same line have to be seperated by a | at the end. You should go to the talk page and read the help there though. Dalf | Talk 04:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

P.S. If you want to see more examples you cna go to Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Familytree

Wikiproject Automobiles Notification edit

Hi Drussel3, you were on the list of members at WikiProject Automobiles and we are introducing a new way of listing members, as the old list was becoming too long. Our new method involves having all of our members in a category.

To add yourself to the category just add the userbox to your user page by putting {{Wiki Auto Project}} where you want the userbox. Alternatively if you don't like the userbox you can add [[Category:WikiProject Automobiles members|Drussel3]] to your userpage.

If you no longer wish to be a member of the project, simply don't add the userbox or category, there's no pressure. Thanks for your time, James086Talk | Contribs 05:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Bates-auto.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bates-auto.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Vehicle engineering edit

I ripped a lot of the good content out of your original VE page and put it into Automotive engineering. In my opinion the VE page overemphasised the role of the vehicle engineer in the product engineering process. Have a look, and see if you think it makes sense. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Abbott-logo1.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Abbott-logo1.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 13:11, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jewett Automobile edit

Hi Drussel3. I recently visited an antique car museum near Albuquerque, New Mexico, and they have a 1922 Jewett in terrific shape which I took some very good pictures of. I'm not too sure what the process is for putting one in an article so I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. Also, I took a very high resolution photo of the dashboard and I can't see the amulet the article mentions. Where exactly is it? Andacar (talk) 04:01, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Michigan automobile manufacturers edit

Welcome back. I created a List of automobile manufacturers of Michigan about a month ago. You can add new entries to it if you like, otherwise I will wait for them to show up in User:AlexNewArtBot/MichiganSearchResult. Thanks for all of your research. --Bamyers99 (talk) 23:31, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This article represents WP:SYNTHESIS. There is no sub-discipline with this name mentioned in mechanical engineering, as would be expected from what is claimed in the lead paragraph, nor is it a term of art found in a literature search, except as a course of study in Chinese universities (where the term appears to be a literal translation into English for what is known as automotive engineering). None of the references cited use the term, either. HopsonRoad (talk) 14:03, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Delete per WP:SIGCOV, WP:NOTINHERITED, WP:V. The only source that even mentions this title is very brief. None of the other sources, as far as I can see, even describes what you can do with vehicle engineering. Sub-fields of a career are not automatically notable. Proposed deletion of File:Alter-advertisement.gif edit

The file File:Alter-advertisement.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superseded by File:Alter-advertisement.jpg shortly after upload. Incorrect file format.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 07:57, 23 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
