September 2019 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  MER-C 12:54, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I attempted to create an article about a new and notable company that's received extensive coverage in the swimming and tech media in an encyclopedic style with extensive references. It seems some editors took issue with the slant of the article, which I would have been happy to address to be more neutral (although I tried my best to do so to begin with). I care about Wikipedia and, if you look at my edit history, I think you'll see that the claim that my account exists solely for promotional purposes is simply untrue--unless seagulls are somehow a commercial product.Drfred55 (talk) 15:36, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

The article look quite promotional. We can only unblock you if you promise not to write promotional article again (that means not towrite about that company, its founder and his other companies at all). Vanjagenije (talk) 09:34, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Do you have any association with this company whatsoever? Any particular reason you didn't edit for about six years? 331dot (talk) 16:03, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

I bought and use their goggles, and I think they're a neat product. That's about it. As for not editing for six years, the simple answer is that I forgot my password (switched from Chrome to Safari and lost the saved password, and my old email no longer worked), so I've been editing anonymously. I made a final (successful) attempt to recover the password before creating the FORM article because I didn't want Wikipedians to think I was an anonymous shill. I guess that backfired! Honestly, I appreciate that Wikipedia needs to take a hard line on spammers and shills, and I concede that I could have written the "reception" section in a more neutral tone by highlighting more negative points. But I'm a bit shocked that the article got deleted and my account got blocked overnight without anyone giving me a chance to make changes. Drfred55 (talk) 16:29, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

This has "paid article" written all over it. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:30, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Gee, thanks for that enlightened analysis. Look, I wasn't paid. I modeled the article after the one for the founder's previous company Recon Instruments, which has been up for years and has no tags on it. I'm not sure why my article doesn't pass muster but that one does... Drfred55 (talk) 16:47, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:FORM Athletica edit

Hello, Drfred55. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "FORM Athletica".
