U.S. Route 331 in Florida

Why did you redirect U.S. Route 331 in Florida? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 13:20, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

US 331 only goes through two states (Florida and Alabama) and we generally only do state-detail pages if a highway goes through at least three states, and sometimes not even then. US 331 is only 150 miles total and that's definitely enough one article can handle. Dough4872 21:47, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

I have to agree with Dough here. The route is only 150 miles long, definitely short enough for one article. For comparison, check out U.S. Route 35, which is 417 miles all in one article. As it is, I think the Florida section of the RD is way too long now. If the Alabama section was brought up to the same standard as Florida's, it would be over 2000 words; that's ridiculous. U.S. Route 491, which is a Featured Article, is only 2300 words long total. –Fredddie™ 22:58, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Before the merge, it was fine. A separate U.S. Route 331 in Alabama article with more detail wouldn't be such a bad idea either. It's not like U.S. Route 123 where you only have a small sliver in Georgia, or U.S. Route 58 with a tiny portion in Tennessee. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 12:10, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Again, US 331 is only 150 miles total. There are several single-state roads of greater length, so I see no reason for three articles to cover US 331 when one will do just fine. The problem with the article currently is the Florida route description has way too much detail and needs to be pruned down. We do not need to mention every single intersection, down to intersections with local streets, and every single landmark, down to houses and gas stations. If the Florida route description is pruned down then you will see how it's justifiable to cover US 331 in one article. Dough4872 15:12, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Interstate 280 (New Jersey)

At the Exit 15 interchange of Interstate 280 (New Jersey), recent construction has rendered the following situation: 1) Eastbound exit -- one exit ramp "Exit 15, Route 21, Newark, Belleville" at the end of which left turns (onto 21 North) and right turns (onto 21 South) are available. The former are newly available. 2) Westbound exit -- this is no longer split into 15A and 15B. It is now one ramp which, at its end, provides access to both 21 north and south. 3) Eastbound entrance -- they've built a new ramp providing access to 280 East from Route 21 South. 4) Westbound entrance -- this still doesn't exist (yet)

Reverted Pennsylvania Route Edits

Hello, you have revealed an inconsistency in the navigation for Pennsylvania state routes by reverting some of my edits. See for example Pennsylvania Route 164, which I did not touch, where the navigation box leads to 163 and 166... NOT 165 which has never existed [1]. According to whatever project rules you are following, is that article in error? Should there be a link to 165 that leads the user nowhere?

That is the problem I thought I was fixing with my edits to PA 184, 192, and 194. I altered those articles so they functioned like Pennsylvania Route 164. Note from the above link that there has never been a PA 195. Some of the other missing numbers in that area used to exist but there are no place for the links to go in WP. So that is another inconsistency. I suspect that you are sticking to project rules more strictly than I was. So be it, but whatever those rules are, they are full of holes and lead the interested user to blank pages. For what purpose? ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 13:51, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

These routes formerly existed, they just don't have coverage on Wikipedia yet. Nothing wrong with having redlinks in the browse. We shouldn't be excluding former routes from the browse simply because they don't have Wikipedia coverage. Dough4872 23:51, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

NJ road pics on commons

I wanted to make you aware, in case you aren’t already, that I’ve been uploading a large number of NJ road pics. I don’t plan to give them proper names and categories until I finish (hopefully) in the fall, but you are free to make use of them now should you wish to. When I finally get around to renaming them, Wikipedia will autocorrect the image source file names. For now, they can be found under each main county cat listed here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Roads_in_New_Jersey_by_county

When I finish, I plan to organize them all similarly to how the Mercer County ones are (that was my test for this little project). All of the photos (should) have reasonably close GPS coordinates, so that should help you with captions. As of 7/20 I’ve completed Mercer, Burlington, Monmouth, Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren, Union, Hudson and Essex, with Bergen currently in progress.

There is about as much similarity between what you wrote and the section on utilities on the article you mentioned above as between a Yugo and a Bentley. Please stop yoyo-ing the article people see, go to the article's talk page and discuss the matter. Encyclopedia articles are supposed to be summaries of what others have written about a subject. Updating some road information

Hello! I’m Needforspeed888 and I’m a roadgeek just like you. While browsing through some articles, I’ve noticed that some maps are out of date. For example, the map at the beginning of Interstate Highway System is missing some new highways, like I-41 and I-69. Also, a map on Pennsylvania Route 332 still says I-95 where it should say 295. Disruptive editing

Please stop your disruptive editing. All of the bridges along Ocean Drive in New Jersey cross channels that are either directly or indirectly part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. — Matthew Wong (at PMA), 16:09, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

The navboxes are incorrect because you fail to mention other bridges that cross the Intracoastal Waterway. For example, the Cape May-Lewes Ferry is not the next crossing south of the Middle Thorofare Bridge as there are also the crossings of the Cape May Canal. Same for many of the crossings further north as there are other bridges to the barrier islands besides the bridges on Ocean Drive. Also, many of the bridges along Ocean Drive may not even cross the Intracoastal Waterway as the waterway follows the back bays and does not follow inlets the the ocean such as Townsends Inlet, so the Townsends Inlet Bridge does not even cross the Intracoastal Waterway. Also you reverted other fixes I made to the articles such as the toll information, which I corrected per the Cape May County Bridge Commission website. Your reverts to my edits introduced factual errors to the articles. Dough4872 16:14, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

This does not really solve the concerns I have which led to my edits. You still fail to mention other crossings in the navbox which is misleading, as in implying those bridges don't exist. Just because those bridges don't have articles means that they can be excluded from the navbox. Also I would debate if we should consider indirect connections to the Intracoastal Waterway as direct crossings. Also, can you explain why you reverted my changes to the toll information? The Cape May County Bridge Commission toll schedule says the bridges have a $1.50 toll, which is the same for cash and E-ZPass. Your edits introduced factual errors with incorrect rates and implying there is a difference between cash and E-ZPass. Dough4872 16:26, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Template bug

At first I thought you were claiming that Subway–Surface Trolley was a proper name. I see you were just trying to work around a bug in the template. Do you know how to fix that instead, or who to ask? Dicklyon (talk) 02:20, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

SEPTA used to title the trolley routes that run in the subway in Center City Philadelphia and on streets outside of there as "Subway-Surface Trolley Lines" however they are just referred to as "Trolley Lines" now. Template:SEPTA lines is where you can fix the name and Template:SEPTA color is where you can fix the color, though I think nothing really should of been changed since Subway-Surface appears to have been a proper name assigned by SEPTA.
