May 2023 edit

Hello, I'm Yeeno. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Don Shipley (Navy SEAL), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Yeeno (talk) 00:34, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

Hello, Don5326. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Don Shipley (Navy SEAL), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 07:36, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'm told I need a citation before editing a page about me that I never wrote. Can you tell me where the citation is for the guy who wrote (never involved in combat) . While serving with SEAL Team Two, Shipley conducted operations in Bosnia and Liberia, although was never involved in combat.
That is not accurate and it's just unecessary to be in the same sentence. I just want that removed.
I also went through SEAL Bacis Indoctrination SBI and not STT. STT (SEAL Tactical Training) began in 1990 and I instructed it. It changed again in the early 2000s to SQT (SEAL Quailification Training).
I have never produced anything. I was part of the Secrets of SEAL Team Six, but I was never any producer. For Anything...
I'd appreciate a little help please. Don5326 (talk) 12:46, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Don5326: Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the confusion; on Wikipedia, editing an article about yourself is strongly discouraged (see Wikipedia:Autobiography for more details), but you are of course free to ask others to make reasonable changes, as you have done here.
I've given the article a closer look and found the "never involved in combat" part was never sourced, so I removed it. I also managed to find sources for your appearance on Secrets of SEAL Team Six, so that sentence was fixed. As for SBI, I couldn't find any sources on that except for your blog, so I've used that as the source for now; in most cases, we would expect a secondary source like a news report or book, but self-published sources like blogs are allowed for non-exceptional claims.
Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns, and please feel free to post any more suggestions you have on the article's talk page at Talk:Don Shipley (Navy SEAL). You may also want to include {{request edit}} above your suggestions there to attract the attention of other editors. Thanks! Yeeno (talk) 22:03, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much, Yeeno.
