City names edit

Hi Dj skenda. Regarding your edits to the articles on Uroševac diff. and Kosovska Mitrovica diff., I would ask you that before making or discussing changes to the names used in all Kosovo-related topics, please review carefully our general naming conventions and the specific ones on geographic names, using English & settlements.

In short, they ask us to reflect common English usage (which will often will be a local name, or one of them; but not always), because those are the forms our intended readership of English speakers would most easily recognize.

Also keep in mind that our naming conventions for geographic names state that "[t]he same name as in the title should be used consistently throughout the article".

In a 2007 arbitration case, administrators were given the power to impose discretionary sanctions on any user working on articles concerning the Balkans. Before any such sanctions are imposed, editors are to be put on notice of the decision. This notice is not to be taken as implying any inappropriate behaviour on your part, merely to warn you of the Arbitration Committee's decision.

If you have any questions about these issue, feel free to ask me :-) Best regards, Ev (talk) 16:33, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
