Lionel Messi edit

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia and congratulations on completing the Adventure. Your edit request on Lionel Messi has been answered. I see that most of the them were done already. It is silly to point out now since you have the autoconfirmed permission with all of the edits you have done, but you did leave this edit request open and you could have deleted it after your first edit on the page. Thank you for your work and I hope you will edit many more articles. Inomyabcs (talk) 13:07, 29 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Inappropriate sources edit

Hello Dim. Nor. 86, I have linked Wikipedia's sourcing policy for you in the article history of Lionel Messi but you continue to add and restore material with inappropriate sources. I'm going to assume good faith and take it that you simply missed the link.

Since the article is a biography of a living person, the sources must be of the highest quality. Daily Mail and Goal.com are inappropriate for biographical information, but it's understandable if people assume otherwise. Sport tabloids like Marca and Sport are dubious but not outright unreliable. However, you're adding sources that can't by any stretch of the imagination be called reliable: messivsronaldo.net, messinews.net, 24sevennews.co.ke, scoopnest.com, crazyhorsebooks.com, analysisfc.com. A source of that calibre is not better than no source.

Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia guidelines and edit accordingly. You're creating more work for other editors and yourself. Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 07:20, 15 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Man of the match edit

August 2016 edit

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you made a change to an article, List of FC Barcelona records and statistics, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:24, 11 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Matty,

I re-wrote it using a valid citation/reference this time (straight from the FC Barcelona's official website).

Thanks for your notice! Dim. Nor. 86

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Lionel Messi, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Add sources with the content added, not later on when you can be bothered to. Hello! edit

Thank you for your contributions at Lionel Messi! If you have the time, could you look into the record for most hat-tricks for the Argentine national team? I think he got that as well, with 5. I dont have the time to research it myself. Thank you :-) Csknowitall (talk) 13:09, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Article talk pages edit

I notice from your edit history that despite making more than 500 edits in your two and a half years here, you have made just five edits to article talk pages. However, you seem more than willing to make comments to and about other editors in edit summaries. I suggest that instead of edit warring over the content you are intending to add, you should perhaps comment on Talk:Lionel Messi and engage with other editors about the content you wish to add. If you fail to do so, we can only assume you're not here to help collaborate on building a better encyclopaedia and you may be headed towards being blocked from editing in the future. – PeeJay 12:46, 7 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Messi magazine awards edit

The awards are fine, but there is a size limit to how much stuff you can put into the main article. Creating a sub article for Messi’s awards, like with Cristiano, would be ideal. There you could list every single award, including from magazines, and then just link that to the main article. F8RIL (talk) 00:17, 23 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of 2012 Joan Gamper Trophy edit

The article 2012 Joan Gamper Trophy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is merely an annual pre-season friendly; a single match, details of which could comfortably be placed into the overall article for the event (which is notable in itself, being one of the older and better known pre season traditions). Each edition does not merit its own article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. February 2021 edit

Hello, I'm Nehme1499. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Lionel Messi have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. IFFHS isn't the "most credible and valid football source worldwide". It's just a source like any other who subjectively voted Messi. Nehme1499 (talk) 12:50, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Messi edit

The IFFHS was removed from the Messi article as there was a previous consensus not to place either him nor C.Ronaldo as greater than the other. The Pele article only refers to the 20th C, not all time. Personally speaking, in 25 years of watching the game Messi is the greatest player I’ve seen, with the second best being Ronaldo (the Brazilian), however, a new consensus would be required to alter the wording. Argentina national football team edit

Hello, I noticed one of your edit summaries at Argentina national football team and I just wanted to explain why this section was previously edited. If you check the edit history of the page, you'll see that all of these statistics were removed because they go against Wikipedia's established policies and guidelines ([1], [2] and [3]). Per WP:NOTSTATSWikipedia articles should not be: ... Excessive listings of unexplained statistics. A number of them are also completely unsourced. All content on Wikipedia has to be verifiable and that is done by providing reliable sources. If you are unfamiliar with referencing, take a look at WP:REFBEGIN. Any unsourced material can be challenged and removed by another editor, the onus is on the person who added the content to ensure it is properly sourced. If these statistics are relevant then by all means include them as prose (see MOS:USEPROSE) in the relevant section. Take a look at Brazil v Germany (2014 FIFA World Cup)#Records for an example of how to do this.

As a word of advice, try to take what other editors do in good faith. Calling another editor "mean" could be seen as a personal attack and accusations of vandalism can be taken very seriously. Have a look at WP:CONDUCT if you want more information.

Hope that helps and if you've any questions just ask. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 09:08, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Argentina National Football Team edit

Hello Stevie, I am very much familiar with the references. If you had checked out my contributions all these years, you would have known that. Speaking of references, how can you explain that 3 out of the 5 goal records HAVE NO REFERENCE but are still there (untouched) and not deleted/reverted ?? :/ Many Wiki users have the same question I guess...

Two of those were left because they should be verifiable so I've tagged them as needing a citation. A short list like that with the most important/relevant stats is perfect for that section, to make it longer it would be better to have it as prose. I've removed one of those five as well per WP:NOTSTATS as it should have been removed previously. Sorry if I implied that you don't know what you are doing earlier. That was not my intention, just wanted to make sure I covered every basis. Hope that helps. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 20:20, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

WP:CIVIL edit

Hi. I've seen you post uncivil messages on multiple Talk pages of other editors. Please stop. We all get frustrated over editing disagreements once a while but we should try to remain WP:CIVIL. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 14:16, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Robbie! Nothing to do with frustration here, it is all about FAIRNESS, TRUTH & FACTS. You did notice my "uncivil messages" but haven't you not noticed all the inexplicable reversions to my sincere posts ?? I dedicate some of my free time on contributing Wikipedia and the "reward" is to see my posts constantly deleted/reverted ??? I always post based on TRUTH, FACTS & VALIDATION. My edits are always based on FACTS (AND FOLLOWED BY THE RESPECTIVE VALID/RELIABLE REFERENCE), however I see certain users (the right word is certain vandalisers, not "users") keep reverting them without a reason... This shows that Wikipedia DOES NOT WORK RIGHT. Something is wrong here.. You simply cannot ignore so many important facts/records regarding for example the most prestigious football accolade in the world or a famous National Football Team. You cannot allow this to be happening... You should find a way to dismiss those "users" for the sake of Wikipedia. They revert just to revert. They are in denial. They do not care at all about Wikipedia, they just want to hide the truth and the facts.
My suggestion to you and to Wikipedia is that you appoint some users as RESPONSIBLE ONES (CONTROLLERS) who can check out what should be written and what not. If it is an UNDENIABLE FACT, then accept it, and if it is not, then ignore/revert it... THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY WIKIPEDIA SHOULD WORK. Because in the end, it is very ridiculous for the community of Wikipedia, all the world to be aware of something and that something to be deliberately ignored/not mentioned by Wikipedia, isn't it...... Dim. Nor. 86 (talk) 16:31, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I wanted to say Hello Robby :) Dim. Nor. 86 (talk) 16:34, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply. I actually go by "Robbie" these days so you got it right by accident. ;-)
I didn't look into "the inexplicable reversions" because my point is you should try to stay calm even if you feel unfairly treated.
Disagreements and reversions happen all the time on Wikipedia. There have been many reversions I found "inexplicable" at first, there have been many times I've felt unfairly treated. As editors we need to find a way deal with these situations. Try to calmly discuss your changes with the editors that have reverted you. Avoid name calling, assume good faith. The suggestions in the "Avoiding incivility" section at WP:CIVIL are very good. I try to stick to them and it usually helps. Same with those in "Dealing with incivility", especially point number 6: "No matter how much you're being provoked, resist the temptation to snap back. It never works; it just makes things worse. Strive to become the editor who can't be baited."
If sticking to those suggestions doesn't work, there are venues where you can ask other editors to mediate. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:59, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your advice and your kindness. I think it is better for me to stop contributing to Wikipedia. Take care my friend :-) Dim. Nor. 86 (talk) 14:24, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome. I'm sorry you feel that way. If you change your mind, don't hesitate to ask for help. All the best, Robby.is.on (talk) 14:35, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
