G'day! edit

G'day there, Dibo, and welcome to Wikipedia! Good authors are always welcome on the project, and I hope you like the place and decide to stick around!

Sometimes new editors find it useful to review our "five pillars", all you need to know about editing in "wiki markup", or this detailed tutorial. The stuff we all really need to know is best summed up here: write from a neutral point of view, play nice with others, and don't let the rules get you down. If you have any questions or need any help, my talkpage is always open for business, or you can see Wikipedia:Newcomers help page. Here's a tip to start you off: if you type four tildes (~~~~) at the end of any messages you leave on talkpages (like this one) Wikipedia will automatically insert your name and the current date and time after your message. Cool, eh?

By the way, I'm going to take a punt in the dark and say you're Australian. If so, excellent! Aussies make good Wikipedians (yes, oh yes, we do). You may be interested in Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board, where Australian Wikipedians occasionally meet to try to help coordinate our efforts. Again, welcome to the project, and happy editing! fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 01:48, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

WP A-League player project edit

WP A-League players

10% complete

Hi Dibo!

I just wanted to let you know about the big WikiProject A-League 2005–06 player project. It is an attempt to bring the articles on every player who played in the A-League in 2005–06 up to standard. Check out the main page for the player project to get the full list of players as well as useful links and stats to help out. Hopefully we can get the full list done before the beginning of the 2006–07 season. Don't forget to update the counts (they will automatically update the status bar) as you go. Thanks! Central Coast Mariners FC and Marinators edit

I am thinking of merging these two articles, what are your thoughts. The manual of style on the football wikiproject suggests a section on "Supporters" and Marinators are the primary supporters. I believe the information on that page can go on the club page. What are your thoughts? -- MyNameIsNotBob 05:43, 28 June 2006 (UTC) p.s. Would you be able to aid in forming a History of the Central Coast Mariners FC page? MyNameIsNotBob 05:44, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merged them for you :P  Killfest 01:23, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks... edit

for all the great work you've done on the Central Coast Mariners article. Keep it up! Killfest2 (Talk) 11:17, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

A-League 2006-07 Newsletter I edit

Introduction
The first ever Wikiproject A-League newsletter is here! The 2006-07 A-League season will bring the usual enjoyment and fanaticism that only football/soccer can create. This new season also means a lot of (currently-open) tasks that require completion throughout the course of the next 21 weeks.
Position Ladder
A Position Ladder will be placed on each team page, which will provide an up-to-date visualization of the current A-League standings. However, problems may occur when Position Ladders aren't updated with the new statistics that don't involve matches of the team whose page the Position Ladder resides on. To remedy this, a base Position Ladder will be created, which will be located at {{2006-07 A-League Position Ladder}} (link). Please update this as soon as possible after the match has ended, as this will keep the Wikipedia community informed.

A few notes regarding the base Position Ladder:-

  • Please do not substitute the Position Ladder template on the team pages, as it won’t get automatically updated if you do.
  • Please only update the Position Ladder at the end of a match, and if there is any large dispute about the result, do not add it, but instead wait for an official report by the A-League confirming the result.
  • When updating, make sure to adjust all of the below fields:-
    • The played field – add one (eg. 13→14 etc.)
    • Either the win, loss or draw field, depending on the result for that team.
    • The points field – either add 3 points (win), 1 point (draw) or leave the same (loss)
    • The for and the against section
    • Make sure you repeat this process for both teams – not just the team you follow!
Summary Tables
Each team page will have a Summary Table added to it, which will provide an at-a-glance look at the results of the team throughout the season. We ask that, at every chance you get, you fill in the results of these Summary Tables – it only takes a few seconds, but it will help keep the uninformed "in the loop" – it is an encyclopedia we’re writing, after all.

As with the Position Ladders, a few notes about the Summary Tables:-

  • Please place the winner in bold text (using '''winning team''').
  • With the crowd figures, please only place a comma if the attendance is over 10,000 people (eg. use 8648 instead of 8,468 and 11,482 instead of 11482).

A-League Barnstar Proposal edit

A barnstar for WikiProject A-League has been proposed here by Daniel.Bryant. Feel free to add your opinions.

Dibo, thought you probably had an identity on here edit

How do you like my edits to John O'Neill? [[1]]

In my opinion, fair and balanced. I welcome your intrusion onto the page to balance these soccer is football fanatics. They really are a mean bunch, yourself excluded. Can you imagine it, a Tasmanian trying to tell a NSWelshman what football is?

Simply absurd in my opinion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ehinger222 (talkcontribs) 02:04, 12 August 2006 .

- please sign your comments. it's done by putting four tildes (these things: ~ ) in a row. and your additions on the john o'neill and other articles have been full of nonsense and POV in equal measure. Dibo 06:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Dibo edit

It is always great to help your fellow man and with an online encyclopedia, the pursuit of genius is but a click away. A truly great spectacle for humanity. Thankyou for the welcome. However it always shames me when I come upon great inaccuracy due to strange agendas like this inexplicable trend to refer to soccer as football. Taking your instructions on board, I feel I am far more adept at creating quality content, and I welcome you back to John O'Neill's page when I am finished. 06:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC)06:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Ehinger222 06:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ehinger - your edits have thus far been almost entirely unencyclopaedic - you might want to check out wikipedia:content for a guide to what your edits should look like. i'm not the only one saying it either, your edits have met pretty universal criticism. Dibo 01:16, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

For removing unsourced information which comprimised the integrity of the Central Coast Mariners FC article, I award you this barnstar. Daniel.Bryant 06:15, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I knew Dominic Tonkin before I moved to Adelaide (well, I sort of knew him), and I'm 95% sure he didn't play for Chelsea FC, and after checking the A-League and CCM websites, I'm 100% sure he hasn't officially signed yet. Daniel.Bryant 06:17, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good work on the John O'Neill page. It needed the attention of more users to restore civility. Cheers, Jpe|ob 07:42, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear dibo edit

It was not vandalism. If you believe that that material requires citation, than surely you will understand the requirement for the inititial citation. His entire existence is uncited and your display of the rules has indeed brought me to a better understanding about what is required for a proper article. Ehinger222 13:42, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for my changes to your message on this talk page. I just wikified the links you added. Have a good one! Jpe|ob 12:30, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please leave me alone edit

As the message stated, this editor has resigned. As you seem to have taken it upon yourself to stalk all the edits(no I am not those two) that Ehinger222 has made, fix them as you see fit. To state again, this editor has resigned. Do not leave further messages at the talk page thankyou. Ehinger222 05:15, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Retired edit

Yes I have retired, but I cannot countenance that page existing unless it is cited. Ehinger222 04:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, just letting you know that those i.ps are not being used by me to edit and that is why I resigned that user, because of that ip following me(btl I think I know who it is and it is no biggy but it freaked me out for a moment). Furthermore I have no animosity for soccer and actually enjoy the game, but I think that it is mostly hype and boringness and my animosity is reserved for references to soccer as football in Australia. Thankyou p.s. please delete this message after you have read it Ehinger22 05:42, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
