Semi-retired edit

More or less retired for the time being: circumstances do not presently provide sufficient time for active Wikipedia work. (But I still check my watchlist pretty regularly...) Devadaru (talk) 03:03, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

By now (Dec. 2015) I'm really not editing anymore at all ... not checking watchlist either. Only, now and then I might make a correction when I feel up to it. Best wishes—Devadaru (talk) 00:51, 25 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mahan Mitra edit

On the article about Mahan Mitra:

Firstly, I am really sorry for unintentionally not mentioning his new name in the revised page.

Now if you are doubtful about his mathematical contributions then I would request you to visit the website http://www.ams.org/mathscinet/search.html and search by the name Mahan Mj. to look for his notable mathematical contributions. And apart from this as one of the leading Geometers he was invited to give talks in the satellite conferences of the International Congress for Mathematicians 2010. ( to check this information kindly visit the following two websites, http://www.icts.res.in/page_contents.php?id=91&program_page_id=174 and http://www.icts.res.in/talks.php?id=49&heading= ) Please also note that International Congress for Mathematicians is an international event conducted in every four years and the prestigious Fields Medal is awarded during this event. Fields Medal is the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Mathematics.

Returning to the other question,I think the wiki page should be by his old name because of the following reasons:

1) All of his recent mathematical papers had been published under the name Mahan Mj. (to check this you can visit the links given in the following link, http://www.rkmvu.ac.in/intro/academics/matsc_website/mahan/index)

2) He has been mentioned as Mahan Mj. in the International Congress for Mathematicians 2010 website. ( to check please visit, http://www.icts.res.in/page_contents.php?id=91&program_page_id=174 and http://www.icts.res.in/talks.php?id=49&heading= )

3) Even in the Vivekananda University website he is mentioned by the name Mahan Mj. (to check this claim you can visit this link, http://www.rkmvu.ac.in/intro/academics/matsc)

4) He has been mentioned by the name Mahan Mitra in the Math genealogy project website, the international database about acclaimed mathematicians. (to check this visit the link, http://genealogy.math.ndsu.nodak.edu/id.php?id=31504)

5) His current working email address is mahan.mj@gmail.com

6) Lastly, before joining the Ramakrishna math and mission as a monk he was already quite famous as one of the front ranking Indian mathematicians.(And precisely for this reason after being a monk he was not able to change his name in the above mentioned websites.) Now if the wikipedia article starts as mentioning his name as Swami Vidyanathananda and not as Mahan Mitra then according to me contrary to the stated goal of wikipedia, it will create an hindrance to get information about him from the site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Souravdefermat (talkcontribs) 16:19, 28 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Did you Know?" review of Dhammapada (Easwaran translation)? edit

Hi, I've noticed your interest in Sanskrit literature, and we've had conversations on the past at Talk:Katha Upanishad. If you're around and get a chance, perhaps you'd be interested in spending 5-10 mins to review a DYK submission for Dhammapada (Easwaran translation)? (DYK="Did You Know" is a daily feature on Wikipedia's Main Page) I'm hoping it can run on Buddha's birthday, which is Tue May 17, but it's been listed at DYK for 5 days, and no-one's yet reviewed it, so time is getting shorter. If interested, you could see if it's still listed at Template_talk:Did_you_know#Dhammapada_.28Easwaran_translation.29. The instructions on that page should be pretty self-explanatory. Thanks! -- Health Researcher (talk) 03:09, 15 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

PS Don't worry, looks like it got taken care of (thanks to User:TheMandarin). Many thanks anyway. Hope you are well. Health Researcher (talk) 13:30, 15 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Swami Prameyananda edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Swami Prameyananda requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 21:35, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Invitation re Films on Ramakrishna edit

Hello Devadaru! Seems like years ago (in fact it was years ago) when we were collaborating on the pages re the Upanishads and the Katha Upanishad. I hope you are well. Since you are interested in Ramakrishna-related topics, this message is to invite you, if you are interested, to participate in building a page on Films about Ramakrishna (likely final title). Currently a draft is in my userspace HERE; User:Presearch/FaRK. So far I am working on it as is User:Titodutta, who speaks Bengali. For more background, see my talk page as well as the talk page of the draft article. As you can see, there are a lot of questions in the draft in braces { }, especially for Bengali speakers. But you could also provide unique help if you have access to a lot of Ramakrishna Mission publications, or other publications, where the films have been discussed (reason: could help establish notability for the overall page as well as eventually for articles on individual films). So please consider this a formal invitation to participate, and feel free to participate as much or as little as you have time and inclination. Best regards -- Presearch (talk) 02:39, 22 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Pramukh Swami edit

Any insight would be helpful:

A scandal broke out a week ago in the BAPS group about two former swami's that accused the head of this organization of rape. I have been dealing with Swaminarayan topic for a few days now. Could some one explain the WP:BLPCRIME policy as it relates to this. This is a sensitive topics and any input would be helpful. Here is what is posted now in the controversy section:

On 22 Oct 2013, BAPS responded to the allegations made by two former sadhus (Sanjay Shah (Priyadarshandas) and Rakesh Bhavsar (Nishkamsevadas) ) that the claims made against Pramukh Swami and his sadhus are utterly baseless and false.[1] Indian reported that “Pramukh Swami, who heads BAPS, and four other top swamis, of alleged assault dating back to the 1970s when they were students at the gurukul.”[2]

Here are additional sources:

http://www.dnaindia.com/ahmedabad/report-ahmedabad-sexual-harassment-case-against-more-sadhus-1907573 http://www.baps.org/Announcement/2013/Message-for-All-5347.aspx http://www.indianexpress.com/news/baps-refutes-allegations-by-former-sadhus/1186609/ http://www.sandesh.com/article.aspx?newsid=2878833 http://www.dnaindia.com/ahmedabad/report-ahmedabad-2-ex-sadhus-accuse-pramukh-swami-and-4-of-sexual-abuse-1908114 http://www.gujaratglobal.com/index.php/current-news/2222-now-baps-sadhus-in-sex-controversy http://daily.bhaskar.com/article/GUJ-AHD-swami-maharaj-performed-unnatural-sex-on-me-for-over-25-years-in-gujarat-and-on--4413768-NOR.html

Main question here is that should these allegation be on Wiki for Pramukh Swami Maharaj under a controversy section. Reply here and there. The main controllers of the article claim that this man is relatively unknown outside of India but in the article itself, it states that he is single-handedly responsible for global growth.

I also want to know that I am apart of an ongoing sock investigation and I am currently fighting. Here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Swamifraud. I do not want this to affect your ability to assist in this article so after reading some of the accusing parties attacks, I am displaying. Please take a look at the articles above and contribute because there are many people patrolling the articles making sure that their religious group is only being portrayed in a certain way.
