Sorry not familiar with talk pages but I'd like to know why you reverted my change to the page as 'vandalism'? Isn't a link to what freestone actually is helpful and informative within the context of this article? 91.143.78.44 (talk) 14:16, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

You know, I looked at your edit again and again and just couldn't figure that you would have made that particular edit. I should have just posted a personal message asking you about it, rather than slap the template on you. No worries, I removed the warning. Sorry! Wikipelli Talk 14:03, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vandal on fighter aircraft-related pages edit

The IPs that have been making strange edits to the See also sections of fighter aircraft pages appear to be the same person, despite that they come from different IPs. Geolocate shows that they have the same ISP and location. Should a WP:SPI be filed? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 12:48, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree that something needs to be done and possibly blocking them may solve the problem. If you have time to file a report I have no objection - vandalism annoys me!! Denisarona (talk) 13:16, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
We'll see if they come back again. Once they've made 4 reverts using any of their IPs on the one page we can file a WP:3RR violation which almost always results in a ban; SPI is too slow to have any significant impact, as it takes a matter of days to progress an investigation. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 16:12, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

maybe you would like this... edit

You have been undoing a lot of vandalism lately, which is great. I realized that it might be hard to revert vandalism using the undo button. If you would like to easily revert vandalism in a single click, you might want to request Rollback rights. You can quickly request them by clicking here, but I recommend you read this page first. Crazymonkey1123 (Jacob) T or M/Sign mine 15:58, 2 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Crazymonkey1123: your anti-vandalism work is great, and you would find rollback rights very useful. I'll grant them to you if you'd like them. Acalamari 16:05, 2 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
You would also get access to Igloo, a powerful anti-vandalism script that requires Rollback rights in order for it to be used by a user. You can click on the Igloo link, which will take you to a page that shows you how to install and use it. You need Rollback rights first before you can use it though! Crazymonkey1123 (Jacob) T or M/Sign mine 16:17, 2 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Rollback granted: just remember that it should be used for reverting blatant vandalism/spam, and that using it to revert anything is considered inappropriate use of rollback. Wikipedia:New admin school/Deleting/delete is a place to practice if you wish to test the tool first. Have fun! Acalamari 16:45, 2 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Nice job in using rollback! I just have one suggestion for you: you could type {{subst:template:Uw-unsourced1}} (without the template word) ~~~~ when you want to let new users know that they added unsourced or improperly cited material, which would have made it easier to warn 2.50.44.134. Keep up the good work! Crazymonkey1123 (Jacob) T or M/Sign mine 16:52, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ospedaletti edit

I don't understand this. The infobox parameters are formatted correctly, the photo is located on Commons, yet it doesn't display in the article. Do you have any idea why is that? - Darwinek (talk) 08:28, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure, but it's possible that the "name.jpg" is incorrect - you used 'Ospedaletti_panorama.jpg' - is this the correct caption? My technical knowledge of images is almost non-existant!. Regards Denisarona (talk) 10:11, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tall Dwarfs edit

Have again corrected the Tall Dwarfs page - their first release WAS on Furtive Records (Propeller's sister label) in 1981 -, and was later re released by Flying Nun. For the sake of accuracy and to no further perpetuate the growing number of Flying Nun myths this correction should stand.

http://www.discogs.com/Tall-Dwarfs-Three-Songs/master/149658

is merely on reference and i can supply more -not to mention the actual copy that I have - but can supply more evidence.

Cheers Elscarface (talk) 02:29, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The reference is correct, but if it had been quoted/shown when making the edits, then there would have been no need to revert "unsourced" edits. Denisarona (talk) 05:45, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I asked another user to look at the Amanda Lindhout situation. And the IP has been warned not to engage in edit wars. Lets hope this is the end of that discussion.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:09, 21 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunatly this are the kind of tactics some IP/users use to distract from their edits. I have asked for the article to be indefinitly protected for sometime so the situation can calm down. Perhaps you can make a comment to, as to why it should be protected so atleast not IPs can do edits on the article. Well, lets hope that particular situation is over with. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:24, 21 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also just to mention it, I find it to be really inappropriate by the IP in question to label you as an "idiot" in his/hers edit summary on the IP talk page. Just because you simply dont agree with the IP in a matter.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:36, 21 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Maybe you could start a discussion on the Amanda Lindhout talk page about reverting back to an earlier version of the article. Perhaps to your latest edit?. Would be easily fixed. Thanks.--BabbaQ (talk) 10:25, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. I am not a registered with Wikipedia. And I do not know how to post properly. But I was a former student of that school and an archivist with the school too. The school does not maintain the page. It's maintained by students who overwhelmingly over exaggerated it and it's misleading other students. And they maintain topics which serve no purpose to people wanting to have a general view only. 50.102.250.142 edit

Why did you threaten to block me over cited edits of the incorrect "Purgatoire River" page? The changes used citations from a college and a newspaper in the area of the Purgatory River, reflecting the correct name of the river. That name is also shown in the USGS link on the page as the first of the two official USGS alternate names, and it's also the name reflected on all maps of the area and in every verbal reference in the area. There was absolutely no vandalism of the page involved; I was attempting to correct it, not disrupt it. 50.102.250.142 (talk) 20:17, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kashmir Conflict edit

I would also like to bring to your notice the Page Kashmir Conflict the user Mustihussain has already done many vandalistic changes on the article that had been noticed and reverted by other editors in past. User Mustihussain keeps editing the content and presents not a neutral viewpoint to the issue but a viewpoint biased with Pakistan.I tried to revert back to the last neutral version by Wikireadr41 but he has edited it again. I am not reverting his changes any more as i feel that if i do it again he will revert it back . Hence I am bringing it to your notice. Kindly look into the matter and revert back the vandalistic changes by Mustihussain , with possible warning (if applicable). Thanks dBigXray 21:39, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

is this a canvas-attempt? your allegations are completely nonsensical. my edits have infinitely improved the "pakistan administrated kashmir"-chapter by removing brazen examples of wp:or, especially concerning gilgit-baltistan. i have brutally complied to wp:npov. absolutely no-one has complained except for you. why don't you tell denisarona the truth about your stupidities on the discussion page [1]? it's clear that you're not interested in improving the article as demonstrated by your deletions of sourced content. my advice to denisarona is to read the "pakistan administrated kashmir"-chapter and the sources used [2]. the blatant lies of dbigxray will become obvious... "vandalistic changes"? "pakistan biased"? my foot!-- mustihussain (talk) 22:19, 16 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Mustihussain First please do not forget that these discussions must occur at talk page of article not on Denisarona's page. Moreover What makes You Mustihussain think that you your editings have a wp:npov when in reality you continue removing many lines related to human rights abuses by Pakistan in Pakistan Administered Kashmir, a difference between your version and the unbiased version by Wikireader41 clearly proves this. Its evident that for a Biased wp:pov like yours they are needless. Please do not remove precious unbiased contributions by other users. dBigXray 08:27, 17 September 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deepeshraj1 (talkcontribs) Reply
are you blind or something? read the section and you'll see that it mentions human rights abuses in kashmir. the topic covers almost the whole section! in addition, the section now complies with wp:nor and wp:npov. the older, unimproved version was not "unbiased" at all. what a joke..-- mustihussain (talk) 08:30, 17 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Denisarona, you have reverted a recent edit - I planned to move a couple of paragraphs I have previously contributed to a more relevant section in the article on Algeria because I felt I was perhaps repeating what had already been said. As such, it was constructive but I accept I should have given a better explanation. However, you appear to have reverted it back several versions somehow because additions near the beginning of the article I did earlier today have disapeared as well. Hello, Denisarona, I hope this is the way to send you message! Today I have made some changes on the topic of religion of the Romani people in Bulgaria. I found it necessary, as the statement that majority of the Romani people in Bulgaria are Muslims is completely false. Even the supporting reference of this statement (reference number 132), which is available on internet, says "In northwestern Bulgaria as well as in Sofia and Kyustendil, Muslim Gypsies have dominated in numbers in the past, but in the independent Bulgarian state most of them have converted to Eastern Orthodox Christianity. They have also preserved their Roma identity and their internal group division into e.g. Erlii, Kalajdžii etc. In most cases, they lost their century-old designation of Xoraxane Roma (i.e. “Turkish Roma”, in the sense of Muslims). In southwestern Bulgaria (Pirin Macedonia) some of the Xoraxane Roma have preserved their Roma identity. A smaller fraction prefers to declare themselves as “Turks”, although not very emphatically, mixing ethnicity with the professed religion (Islam). ". So even the supporting reference claims that the majority of the cited Romani populations are Eastern Orthodox Christians (Bulgaria have been independent since 1908). Another issues is the fact that this reference 132 is entitled: "Roma Muslims in the Balkans". As far as it is the sole reference on that topic and one could not expect to cover all the religious believes of the Romani people in Bulgaria, it makes it inappropriate as a source of information about Romani religion in general (outside Islam). As you could prove by yourself, the topic of the inaccuracy of that article on the Religion of Romani people, have been mentioned already in the talk on the Romani people article by several different Wikipedia users from several different countries. hyphenated variants are not spelling variants edit

Hey, on the off-chance that you're not an idiot, please carefully consider these two alternatives:

Posttraumatic stress disorder (also known as post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD)

vs.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

A hyphenated variant (posttraumatic vs. post-traumatic) does not constitute an alternative spelling. Including it adds absolutely nothing to the introduction and only clutters the first sentence, which should be optimized for readability. --213.196.213.195 (talk) 19:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Indianapolis Motor Speedway edit

Hi, I noticed you reverted something on Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Why did you revert it. The information there is, as the ip stated, pointless. Did you even look at what was removed before you reverted? Regards, Mythical Curse (talk) 18:45, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

What was my offensive comment? and another race has also been confirmed in New Jersey. Surely that makes the comment on the IMS page not valid that there's unlikely to be another US Grand Prix when another one has already been confirmed. Mythical Curse (talk) 11:37, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh good, now I can reverse the offensive comment. Did you even read the information on Indianapolis Motor Speedway? The information stated that there wouldn't be a Formula One race at IMS until at least 2021. It didn't say there wouldn't be another Formula One race in the US. Hi! You reverted me in Category Vexillum edit

You just reverted one or two of my recent edits. It could be that it wasn't clear what I'm doing, and it looked frivolous, or perhaps like vandalism. Since I've lately done a lot of similar edits (and anticipate doing many more), let me explain.

I'm working through a couple of hundred articles on species of snail in the genus Vexillum. That genus belongs to the family Costellariidae.

There is a category page for that family Costellariidae. And most of the genera do not have their own category pages, so many species in that family go properly on that category page.

But there IS a category page for the genus Vexillum. And it's listed as a subcategory within the family. But I found that roughly 50 articles on species of Vexillum were listed on the category page for Vexillum. The rest--probably a couple of hundred--were listed on the page for the family Costellariidae.

It's my understanding--and it certainly makes sense--that Wikipedia prefers things to be listed under the most specific category that applies to them. At the very least, they should all be done the same way (and if they're all listed under family, then there's no point in a category page for the genus).

I know of no other way to change these things than to go through one by one and change the coding for the category. If your objection is THE WAY I CODED for the category Vexillum, it determines how they're alphabetized on that page--and the way I'm doing it is consistent with absolutely everything that was already there before I began. 140.147.236.195 (talk) 15:57, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Stephen KoscieszaReply

I am sure you are aware that your little friend deleted a new entry from my talk page, yes? While my reaction was equally wrong and vindictive, I do so hope Benlisquare receives the warning he deserves, just as I have, being that my reaction does not somehow vindicate his act of deleting an entry from another user's talk page (a practice that is frowned upon is it not?). Users editing articles like newbies? edit

Dear Denisarona, I am here to ask for your advice, and help. I am a frequent contributor of wikipedia, and recently i have been reverting and undoing a lot of edits on the page of Tiger versus lion. Not much of edits, just reverting, because recently there are some new users, two in particular who are creating a little bit of "disturbance" to that page. That page is fairly new(in terms of numbers of edits) and definitely requires much more information and assistance from established users. However these 2 users, User talk:Alchemist51 and User talk: Alex gnpi, have been editing the page, adding materials without citations onto the page. In fact, one of them actually added a paragraph using a Youtube video as evidence. And the other, simply keeps copying and pasting materials which have been erased(due to lack of citations) back to the page. I have tried asking for semi page protection, which has been approved, but both of them are apparently "established" users and they can continue editing the page.

I tried reverting the page back to the stable version, but within hours they are edited again, its almost like an editing war. Whenever i revert the page, i explain the reasons for the edit, while these users simply edit the article. Hence i am here right now, writing this to you, asking for your assistance in what i should do. I do not want to continue this "edit war" as i find it pointless, so is there a way to stop them from editing this page for a while? This has been occurring for almost a full week, that is what i came here to raise my concern.

I hope you understand where i am coming from. Cheers.

The Creed edit

His edit to Nicene Creed, removing the link to mb-soft, was valid, in my opinion. He removed nothing of substance from the article, just ancient variations on the wording of "there was a time when he was not" (such as "there was a time before", "there was a time before he was", etc.), not the statement itself: the article didn't really need every variation of statement used by the Arians either; it's not like he removed "homoiousious" from a list of "homouosious" (same substance) "homoios" (alike) and "homoiousios" (similar substance), which were major words, extensively fought over, to win orthodoxy (homoousious), over and against the Arians (homoios), and the compromisers and semi-Arians (homoiousios). St John Chrysostom view/my bias 18:06, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm still thinking about it. A lot of his removals of refs are unjustified, and some leave the article unreferenced, just because the ref is a tertiary source. Assume good faith, but this guy is doing nothing but deleting refs, adding nothing, doing no other function, and his talk page is full of warnings for vandalism. St John Chrysostom view/my bias 18:30, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's why I was a bit worried - he's using the same reason for deleting references in almost all his edits. Denisarona (talk) 18:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
mb-soft.com is not a reliable source. There are plenty of other reliable sources out there. We don't need to have it in place as linkspam. It's not about it being a "tertiary source". It's about it being hosted by a private website and essentially being the opinions of an individual. Even where primary source documents are ostensibly being hosted, there is no guarantee that the owner of the website isn't altering the documents. Reference the original document, by all means, but please do not restore mb-soft.com citations as they ruin the respectability of the sourcing in Wikipedia's articles. 69.86.225.27 (talk) 02:31, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pork Pie et al edit

Dear Denisarona I should probably have left notes in the edits that we are doing today and tomorrow on certain Wikipedea pages, but did not feel it was necassary at the time - I am the editor of HistoricalFoods.com where a lot of references on wikipedea food pages point to - the site has moved name and domain to RecipeWISE.co.uk so all of the old links on wikipedia pointing to historicalfoods.com are now dead, the exact same recipe or article can be found on our new named website recipewise.co.uk ... by altering all the names accross today and tomorrow we are attempting to clean up all the dead links - but you keep changing them back ... ??? so either they need to be removed or changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.160.136 (talk) 13:22, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you had stated why the edits were being made then they wouldn't have been reverted. Check out Edit summary for further guidance. Denisarona (talk) 13:26, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Like I said, not a noob, didn't think it was necassary as the pages are all quite niche and not particularly contentious with editors. We don't put the links here, we are just helping people out by changing the link to point to the correct address, (they seem quite popular as the links show up in our analytics) while changing nothing else on the page ... but yes, I could have added something into the pages talk - thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.160.136 (talk) 13:30, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
thanks Denisaroa - we were 301 ing the new links accross but the site has now been pulled offline so the new site needs the new links put into wikipedea to be updated, we will be doing about twenty page changes (just the links). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.160.136 (talk) 13:36, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism on Article about Methodism in the Philippines edit

Hi Denisarona. I saw one of your edits in Methodism and I assumed you could help. I'm quite concerned about a lot of revisions happening in Methodism particularly that part of History of methodism in the Philippines. search special groups (iraq) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.148.5.228 (talk) 07:59, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Special Groups (SGs) is a designation given by the US military to the cell-based Shi'a insurgent groups operating within Iraq, backed by Iran. These groups are allegedly funded, trained, and armed by the Iranian Quds Force. According to American General Kevin J. Bergner, the Special Groups receive between 750,000 and 3,000,000 dollars funding per month, from the Quds Force.[1] These groups are separate from although possibly connected with the Jaish al Mahdi or Mahdi Army, of Muqtada al-Sadr. A distinction between these groups and the Mahdi Army has been maintained more clearly since al-Sadr called for a ceasefire at the end of August 2007 following Mahdi Army clashes with Iraqi Security Forces in Karbala, Iraq but the Special Groups continued fighting. After the disbanding of the Mahdi Army in 2008 its successor was announced as a group called the Brigade of Promised Day; however the largest special group which emerged after the Iraq spring fighting of 2008 was a group called the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq or Qazali Network. Another large special group is Kata'ib Hezbollah (or Hezbollah Brigades) which started to operate independently from the Mahdi Army and the other Special Groups. Suspected leaders include Qais al-Khazali, Laith al-Khazali, Ali al-Lami, Azhar al Dulaimi, Akram al-Kabi, Abu Mustafa al-Sheibani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Abu Deraa.

Hi Denisarona. I've noticed we might have gotten into a bit of a spat over the Norsefire wikipage. I just wanted to explain to you why I was making my edits. In regards to the deleted ref from the lede paragraph, unlike the other two it does not reference Norsefire's Nordic supremacy or Nordicism. In regards to the second lede paragraph, it's WP:UNDUE and unnecessary to list every single minority in the UK. In addition, the sentence also suggested that religious and ethnic minorities were political opponents of Norsefire, which they were not (just left-wingers, pretty much). Hi Denisarona. I acknowledge the fact that you did sort the names of Rosogolla as it was. I changed "It is based on the 1982 historical fiction novel Schindler's Ark by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally." to "It is based on the 1982 historical non-fiction novel Schindler's Ark by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally.", but you changed it back.

When you click on the Wikipedia link for the book, Schindler's Ark, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schindler%27s_Ark, the first sentence says "Schindler's Ark is a Booker Prize-winning historical non-fiction novel." Obviously, when one page says it is a historical fiction novel and the other says it is non-fiction novel, this is a problem. Therefore, the Schindler's List Wikipedia page needs to be changed to reference it as a historical non-fiction novel.

The novel follows the genre of a historical non-fiction novel, as it is based on true events. It "depicts real historical figures and actual events woven together with fictitious conversations and uses the storytelling techniques of fiction" following Wikipedia's definition of non-fiction novels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-fiction_novel — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:46:8000:76:70A5:4F8F:65A5:2D64 (talk) 20:28, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sydney per se edit

I won't be reverting anything you've done [4] at the Sidney (given name) article, but in "the name Sidney was itself a fashionable name given to girls", I still don't understand what "itself" means here. I see it was added by an IP way back in August 2021 [5], so it obviously means something to people. But I can't figure out what. signed, Willondon (talk) 16:44, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Elizabeth, Countess de Gramont edit

Dear Denisarona, Grandmaster Editor, >100,000 (I am in my early 8,000s). Thank you very much for all the corrections you did on the Irish biographies that are on my watchlist, which allows to see the tip of the iceberg of all the work you are doing. Many of the corrections I saw there were necessitated by mistakes of mine (I should be more careful!). Thank you also for the 'beer' you sent me recently. I like to click the Thank button when I see good corrections.

I think you would agree with me that errors in quotations should not be corrected, even if sometimes it might be useful to add a "sic" or an explanation between square brackets. However, in your recent corrections on the article Elizabeth, Countess de Gramont you made such changes. You removed a comma out of "... death in June 1708, it was ..." and removed a hyphen out of "chief-surgeon". I would guess these are 'corrections made by AWB genfixes, which has a bug described in Phabricator task T236729, submitted in 2019 by User:Tom.Reding. These errors are in quotations inside citation footnotes (see WP:FOOTQUOTE) which I like to use. I do not know how this problem should be solved, but this is up to you. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 07:50, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Fixed, thanks for the alert - was going too fast and didn't notice it was a quote. Again, thanks. Denisarona (talk) 08:25, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Luke Plunket, 3rd Earl of Fingall edit

Dear Denisarona, Grandmaster Editor. Sorry to bother you again. I just saw your edit on Luke Plunket, 3rd Earl of Fingall where you replaced the non-breaking space ( ) between the date and the month with an ordinary space. I thought non-breaking spaces were de rigeur in that place. I learned this from User:Twofingered Typist (deceased), formerly of the Guild of Copyeditors (GOCE), when he copyedited Donough MacCarty, 1st Earl of Clancarty in February 2021 in preparation for a GA review. Is it not good practice? Could you please cite a policy or guideline to assure me? With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 08:40, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Richard Butler of Kilcash - Future in the past edit

Dear Denisarona, thank you for your recent attention to the article Richard Butler of Kilcash. You changed "His descendants would succeed to the earldom of Ormond ..." to "His descendants succeeded to the earldom of Ormond ...". The "would succeed" is future in the past and expresses that this will happen much later, not in the flow the the narration which is in the past. The Wikipedia article explains it nicely. Your correction removed this admittedly relatively subtle difference. This future-in-the-past has been there since September 2018. Admittedly, you are the second user to criticise my use of the future in the past. Laurel Lodged also disliked it (in other articles) but seems to accept it now. I looked around about future-in-the-past and there seems to be nothing wrong with it. It does not seem to be considered old-fashioned or stilted. What do you say? Best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 17:39, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm still not enamoured of it. It seems too Germanic \ Dutch and not natural, modern English. Laurel Lodged (talk) 18:20, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I used it because it describes what happened after 1758. The use of both is correct, but the "future in the past" tends to be more formal. If you want to change it back, there's no problem. Regards Denisarona (talk) 10:22, 2 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

James FitzGerald, de jure 12th Earl of Desmond edit

Dear Denisarona. You know well how much I appreciate your many corrections and improvements, but from time to time an error creeps in. Usually when the apparent mistake is in a quotation and should therefore have been left alone. That is the case of your recent correction of the date format in the article James FitzGerald, de jure 12th Earl of Desmond, where on 12:04 7 September 2022 you corrected an old-fashioned date that happens to appear in one of these many footquotes that I like to put into my citations. You replaced "March 19, 1540" with "19 March 1540". Note that this is not the latest correct on this article. Please repair the damage. With thanks and best regrds, Johannes Schade (talk) 18:16, 10 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, missed that it was part of a quote - now fixed. Thanks for the heads-up. Regards Denisarona (talk) 08:16, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Theobald Dillon, 7th Viscount Dillon; Henry Dillon, 8th Viscount Dillon; Charles Dillon, 10th Viscount Dillon edit

Dear Denisarona. First of all a big THANK YOU for the many, many genuine fixes that you did on text I added or edited. I should be more careful when writing and check my spelling better. You are of course a much more experienced Wikipedian than I am: an amazing 121,676 against my 8,000-and-something. However, with all respect due, it also seems to happen to you from time to time to go a bit too fast and to correct text that is not wrong.

On the article Theobald Dillon, 7th Viscount Dillon your correction "forfeit" -> "forfeited" is needless as "forfeit" can be used as an adjective. It is correct to say "his title and his lands were forfeit." (see Wiktionary, which gives the example "to tread the forfeit paradise").

On the article Henry Dillon, 8th Viscount Dillon your correction of the date format "July, 1687," -> "July 1687," is wrong as this is inside a citation (more precisely a footquote, see WP:FOOTQUOTE) from Burke 1915 where the date is given in that form.

On the article Charles Dillon, 10th Viscount Dillon your correction of the date format "Ireland in September, 1736, to" -> "Ireland in September 1736, to" is wrong as this is inside a citation (more precisely a footquote, see WP:FOOTQUOTE) from O'Callaghan 1854 where the date is given in that form.

I do not want to change what you did. Please fix your fixes if you agree with what I said. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 09:14, 24 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tricky user edit

Hello! I see you also had a try with the Linate Airport bloke, thank you. I bl**dy hate conflict on here but I have tried a (relatively) nice note about their editing and I've templated them over edit warring, with no effect either way. Others have warned them too. They seem wholly unresponsive – like, I am wondering if they are absolutely unaware of all of this or that there is even conflict. I know some users (mobile apps??) tend not to see their talk page. They are not vandalizing, I get that – it seems to me that it's mostly bad editing but done in good faith, it appears. But it's getting to be a bit of a time sink ... how to communicate??? Spelled vs. spelt in British English edit

Dear Denisarona, I feel you should stop replacing "spelled" with "spelt" in British-English Wikipedia articles. Both are acceptable and "spelled" is now (since about 2000) more common in British English than "spelt"; See the ngram (https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=spelled%2Cspelt&year_start=1900&year_end=2019&corpus=29&smoothing=3). Otherwise, you might want to team up with user Antidenisarona to catapult you both into breaking all records of edit counts by changing from the one to the other and back :) Just joking - and thanks for all the useful ones. Best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 11:38, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Johannes, the reason I change is that spelt is more common in British English, whereas the alternative spelled is more typical in American English (according to Oxford and Longman dictionaries). The articles where I change are British-based English articles. Regards Denisarona (talk) 12:18, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

". Versus ." edit

Hello, Denisarona. In Wyatt's Rebellion, you changed all of the instances of ." to ". and I'm wondering if that's the standard in England. I'm in the United States, and the . before the " is the standard here. I use Microsoft Word, for example, and it flags ". and wants to change it to ." I will use ". for anything else I might post, but am curious about the difference. Agunter137 (talk) 03:05, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, there is a difference in English. When the quotation is a complete sentence, then we use ."

When the quotation is part of a sentence then we use ". For example: During the dinner James said "I love fish".

Hi, and thanks for the notification – Denisarona, looking at your permissions log, there's an entry labeled

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents&oldid=940705679#User:Denisarona's%20repeated%20rollback%20misuse%20and%20failure%20to%20communicate

...the title of which alone is already worrying, and which came with a revocation of the rollback group membership you had for years.
This puts you in a difficult situation. It's easier to trust a stranger than someone who has betrayed you in the past. It's easier to grant rollback to a newcomer than granting it to someone who has misused rollback before.
The current wording of your rollback request does not seem to address your rollback history yet. It reads like any newcomer's request for the permission, but you are not a newcomer. DanCherek noticed this and could have declined the request, requiring you to provide more details in future requests. Instead, it seems that DanCherek would simply like to hear – from you, Denisarona – why the issues from 2020 are no longer relevant. Imagine you're blocked and are requesting an unblock. Your unblock request says "I'd like to be unblocked, so I can edit Wikipedia". An admin responds: "Why were you blocked? Why can you now be trusted, what has changed?" Your current response to that is "Don't understand what I have to do." ~ ToBeFree (talk) 13:51, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
There's no problem at this time. My lack of response in 2020 was due to COVID and, thankfully, I have fully recovered. If the rollback cannot be given, then I will continue as I have done since recovering. Many thanks for your help. Denisarona (talk) 13:57, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Problems with some articles edit

Hi, I need a favor. Would you have time to arrange the articles Culture of Italy, Cinema of Italy, Kingdom of Italy and Italian literature, in order to remove the tags at the top of the articles ? I would like to do it, but I'm not so familiar with the English Wikipedia policies (I'm mainly active on the Italian Wikipedia). Greetings. --LukeWiller (talk) 14:48, 1 July 2023 (UTC).Reply

Hi Luke. I don't agree with the tags at the top and will try to help, but I can't at the present time. I am preparing to go on holiday tomorrow and won't be accessing Wikipedia until I get back in 10 days' time. Then I will try my best. Regards Denisarona (talk) 14:53, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello Denisarona, regarding Callum Voisin, I edited the section incorrectly stating he is a Swiss national/duel national. He is not. He is British, albeit born in Switzerland. This, unfortunately, does not give automatic Swiss citizenship. He still lives in Switzerland so having a Swiss flag next to his name is fine. Just to clarify, I am his father so (hopefully) am qualified to clarify his nationality. If I edit anything further I will explain the reasons in the section provided.
