Speedy deletion

I sympathise, having gone through the same process a couple of times recently. However, encyclopedic objectives are necessarily long-term and patience is a key virtue. In our situation (I being also a relative newcomer) my advice is to wait and watch rather than rush in without understanding the whole process. If you need the coverage before the election, forget it!-- No-one ever goes to an encyclopedia to learn that "X is a candidate in the next election [which will be a non-event by the end of 2007]". Anyway, why would a unknown AD candidate warrant more space than, say, Janine Haines? I've come to agree with my erstwhile critics that there has to be (a) genuine noteworthiness and (b) reasonable impartiality behind Wikipedia articles, otherwise the whole concept is debased. I'm also not in favour of writers' anonymity and concealment by pseudonyms. Honesty and openness make good partners. Incidentally, I was surprised today to find that the ANU-based online Australian Dictionary of Biography apparently does not regard either Don Chipp or Janine Haines as sufficiently noteworthy! You cannot just re-create deleted material that has been deleted by the community consensus, it is viewed as disruptive. Further disruptive editing can result in your being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Carlossuarez46 00:04, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
