I see you tagged The Game of the Century (chess). Citation can almost always be improved, but there were 14 inline cites in the article at the time you tagged it so tagging the entire article is not very helpful in getting your concerns addressed. The neutrality complaint covering the entire article is in many ways even worse, as no one has any way to know what specifically you consider questionable. Ambassador Avant

I am deleting inaccurate information. The IG report on the Ambassador is VERY POSITIVE and is being misquoted by a BLOGGER on FP Magazine's website - not in an article in FP Magazine and that BLOG is being cited as a news source by the press because of Wikipedia spreading these lies. READ THE REPORT. The IG is critical of the "period of dysfunction and mismanagement" under the former DCM. The report praises the Ambassador and the new DCM and said the embassy is recovering. The BLOG was an obvious attempt to misrepresent the IG report to make some political point. I will continue to delete references to that blog and press pick ups from it. I'm sure your reasoning is sound, and I'm sure you have a valid reason for blanking the content. But you should still leave an edit summary to declare your intentions for blanking, and ideally also state your actions on the article's talk page so the community is aware of your reasoning. Ambassador Avant and the IG report

I deleted the section and replaced it, as it was so riddled with factual errors and was so poorly written, that I could not correct in its created template. I have added a sub section on the IG report and its history in the media to help make the conflicts make more sense. • I've just deleted both files as it is Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 2.5 License, which is not acceptable on Wikipedia. Hello Hette123. Per WP:RS, reliable sources are verifiable and independent of the subject; i.e. you can't include information in the article "because I have the subject of the article with me and he said this". While you have references in the article, the rules for how you can write the article are more stringent than most articles because the article is a biography of a living person. This means, essentially, that every statement in the article must be directly supported by an inline citation at the end of the fact. Please see that page for information on how to format those. Also see WP:BLP for information on how Wikipedia handles articles about living persons. Dear Deadbeef,

You recently rejected the entry I composed for the Finnish band, Sarcofagus, because of the sources inadequately establishing notability. I'm curious as to the basis for this, however, as four of said sources are independent, a Finnish Wikipedia page already exists and a simple Google search will confirm this to be a classic and notable band within its niche. I'm not sure how I can improve the sources, as I would think that those which are there would be sufficient to corroborate notability, so could you please advise me on that.

Hello. The reason I rejected your AfC submission is that it did not meet the threshold for Wikipedia's notability guideline for bands. There are 12 criteria for that guideline, and your article did not verifiably meet any of them. This is a more specific implementation of the golden rule for articles, which also was not met. That policy dictates that all articles "require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." To deconstruct the sources you used in your submission:

• Two were links to the Finnish Wikipedia. However, Wikipedia is not a source.
• One was a link to Youtube, which is not a reliable source and does not confer notability.
• Three were links to the band's own website. This is acceptable for basic information in the article, but does not establish notability.
• Three (metal-archives.com, metalfromfinland.com/Sarcofagus), were to band cataloging websites, which does not confer "significant coverage", and thus does not confer notability.
• Two (promisedlandofmetal.com) gave the band either a passing mention (the one in the submission's body) or did not talk about the band at all (the one in the references section"). They do not, therefore, confer "significant coverage", and thus do not confer notability.
• This leaves www.thecorroseum.com/features/sarcofagus/sarcofagus.htm, which gives the band significant coverage, is (likely) reliable, and is (likely) independent of the subject. However, this source on its own is not enough to allow the article to pass the general notability guideline. Several more like this would be minimal in order to pass.

Suspended vs Ceased, Lavabit

I have dealt with this user in the past, and have looked through their history. It is apparent that the user is very stubborn in their edits. However, I am sure that the edits by Elizium were not made out of good faith (they know that there was clearly a solid reference already (and just look at their editing/talk history)), but that is just my opinion and opinions are greatly embraced on Wikipedia, as it is a community project and is also why we have talk pages. Csatary

You reverted my change of the BIOGRAPHY section about Csatary to Csatary in the News It is unfair to everyone that knew Csatary to call that list of events his biography. He lived 98 years and it talks mostly about alleged war crimes from 1943. The news sources have been all over the map with their facts and this is just a compilation of those facts that are slanted towards Nazi Hunting. Hi. I reverted your edits to the László Csizsik-Csatáry page because 'biography' is a neutral term and is an appropriate header for the section. Many of Wikipedia's biographical sections are collections of news articles because they provide a neutral representation of notable events in a person's life. I appreciate that you started a new section about the issue on the article's talk page, as Wikipedia is built on consensus and talk pages are the appropriate venues to seek major or controversial changes to articles. If you feel that Csatáry is portrayed unfairly in the article, you should suggest changes in the article's talk page that you would like to see made. You should not personally make these edits, as you have a clear conflict of interest with the subject by having known him personally. Thus, if you have links to any Hungarian newspapers or websites that can add additional information to the biography section, you should provide those links in the talk page along with what they include that you would like to be in the article. Ian Usher Wikipedia page submission

Hi Deadbeef, My name is Vanessa Anderson and I recently submitted a page on Ian Usher. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ian_Usher This was rejected as unsuitable as the subject was considered to be notable only for one event. I have since updated the article to reflect that Usher is probably now as well known, if not more so, for his two year journey that followed his ebay auction. He set a list of 100 personal goals, and tackled them over a period of two years. I have added six further references from media sources to confirm this. Usher has also written two books, both referenced. He has also sold movie rights for his first book to Walt Disney Pictures. References also provided. More recently he has received a fair amount of notoriety for buying his own private Caribbean island - again, media references provided. Hi again Deadbeef, I've just removed that sentence from the "Paradise Delayed" section for now. An agreement for a documentary episode has been agreed and begins filming in September, but as yet there is no online reference to cite. The show being filmed is an episode for the second series of New Lives In The Wild for UK production company Renegade Pictures. Hello Angelo. By my count, Blades only reverted your edits twice, thus not violating WP:3RR as you did. In addition, he is a new user and likely has no or little knowledge of Wikipedia policy. I've dropped a warning on his talk page, but he didn't violate policy, so I will not report him to WP:AN3. You, however, are less than one day off of a 48-hour block for edit-warring. You obviously know policy by now, and still continued with the WP:3RR violation anyway. Global Ocean Commission Review

Hi, Don't know if I'm using the talk page correctly so please pull me up on mistakes - I'm a complete noob. I've updated the citations to included sources, such as The Guardian and La Stampa, where the Global Ocean Commission is discussed; hopefully this demonstrates the subject's notability? If more citations are needed I can find some. (Sorry this wasn't added before, I mainly used the organisation's website for information, as a lot of the media articles seem to get their information from the press releases on the website. Petrides deletion

Hello Deadbeat... I don't think the Petrides text was a copyright violation as the authors of the text provided it to me as I stated in the note responding to the deletion. I can rewrite it if you think it's necessary, but the information is accurate. I explained to them that the information needed to be sourced, but they were afraid to post the information themselves as they thought that was against the rules and they just wanted some information to be available on their father other than just his name and an empty page. This is the second time my article has been declined. What do I have to do to the article for it to be accepted? My screen name is westblctonfilm because I am the filmmaker that made the documentary. Hello Michael. I take it you did not read the declining tag or the links it provided, so I'll explain it to you here in detail. Your article was declined because it does not meet WP:GNG or WP:MOVIE, two notability guidelines that apply to your documentary. It also does not meet WP:42, which is the Golden Rule of Wikipedia: Articles require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. None of the three citations you provided make any mention of your film, let alone address it extensively. Wikipedia requires information to be verifiable, and it requires notability to be firmly established. Looking at your article, which is about a very minor documentary about a very small town, I would guess that it has received no extensive coverage in independent media. A quick Google search confirms this. Unfortunately, this means that the documentary is not notable enough to meet the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia. If you believe that I am wrong and would like to continue working on the article to establish its notability, you are welcome to try and do so. However, from past experience, I will tell you that it will probably not stand.

About your username, it is prohibited by being a promotional username. While usernames are allowed to include the name of a company or organization, they cannot imply that it is being used by a company or organization. (i.e. a username of 'MichaelFromWestBloctonFilm' or so would be fine) Because you are following proper channels and not making blatantly promotional edits, I won't report your account to the sysops. However, one who passes by might compel you to change it. If you want, you can make a new account or request a username change.

Hi Nehal. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for trying to improve Wikipedia with your addition of Gomti River (Gujarat). The reason it was deleted was because of speedy deletion criterion A1, which applies to short articles which don't provide enough context for the reader to understand what is being discussed. One way you can improve this is by first drafting the article in your userspace first and then moving it to article namespace, creating less of a chance that the article will be deleted. Another option is to create your article at Articles for Creation, where a reviewer will look at your submission and try to help you get it published.

Timothy Ministry Training

Dear Deadbeef The information on Timothy Ministry Team was outdated. The page Timothy Ministry Team was so outdated, that both the name and address, structure of the organization was no longer accurate. I have been tasked with editing the article. I have copied everything from our updated history, facilities etc to what it says on our website. You seem quite passionate and helpful, would you be so kind as to highlight the sections which you feel should be removed from the updated page which you deleted? I can honestly say that almost everything on the previous version is inaccurate. First off, welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad that you have an interest in keeping the information on your organization's page reliable and correct.

Wikipedia is supported by many, many policies that help keep the information professional, reliable, and encyclopedic. Your edits do not adhere with the tone of Wikipedia; that is, they are from the point of 'we', 'our', etc. First-person tone is unsuitable for an encyclopedic entry, and should be written as 'the organization', etc.

Primarily, however, your edits are very promotional in nature. Edits speaking praisingly of the church (i.e. "Over one hundred years ago, God did a significant work here through a man call Andrew Murray") are not allowed and are considered unencyclopedic. Articles need to be written from a neutral point of view to help keep Wikipedia reliable. Imagine what Wikipedia would look like if, say, Apple was allowed to advertise its products right on its wiki page!

It is also not acceptable for you to simply copy-and-paste material from your website onto Wikipedia, as copyright issues may arise. Even though you wrote the material, for legal reasons Wikipedia can't rehost text material unless it is free-source or it has received expressed written notice from the author that it is acceptable to do so. However, this would be inappropriate for your case for the reasons above.

Also, all debatable information in the article must be supported by reliable sources. All articles in Wikipedia need support to be considered reliable. In your edits, you introduce large blocks of text with no reliable, secondary (that means not from you) sources to back them up. This is also not allowed on the site, as anyone could change any of the information (they could say you are located somewhere else, for example) and they would be just as right as you because neither of you would have backed up your statements.

Incidentally, you may be required to change your username, as it conflicts with Wikipedia username policy. Usernames that are names of organizations are not allowed as they introduce conflicts of interest when editing. You may change it in accordance with the policy, but you should know that your account will probably not be allowed to stand as-is.

Finally, please read our conflict of interest policy to help understand why your conflict is an issue when you want to edit your own page, as well as steps to take to help get it updated neutrally.

I know this is a lot of reading, and again, I'm glad that you're taking an interest in your organization's Wiki page. Please let me know if you need any more advice, and please consider going to the Wikipedia Teahouse for further help in editing your article.

Thank you so much Deadbeef! After reading your reply I understand a lot better. I updated Timothy Ministry Training its much shorter and I removed all the us and we's. We clearly didnt read up nearly enough beforehand and knowing what we know now, we would like to be honouring towards the rules of Wikipedia. I have learnt so much! We'll refrain from editing our own article in the future. As far as having two articles would it be enough to remove the content of Timothy Ministry Team and re-direct it to Timothy Ministry Training? Would I ask someone within teahouse to assist? Sorry for all the questions I tried to read the help section in how to get a page's name changed yesterday, but if I may be very honest it was all a little bit technical and I didn't understand half of what was being said. No worries, glad I could help out. I went ahead and redirected the 'team' page to the 'training' page. It's fine if you want to use your real name, but make sure you're alright with the implications and understand the possibility of opening yourself to harassment. Unlikely, but possible. You can submit a change of username request here. If your article gets deleted, consider recreating it through Articles for Creation. This is a way to make the article, get it checked by other users, and make sure it's ok for submisssion so this kind of thing doesn't happen again. Please read the first sentence of Wikipedia's spam guideline: "there are three main types of spam on Wikipedia. These are: advertisements masquerading as articles; external link spamming; and adding references with the aim of promoting the author or the work being referenced." You are doing the second two of these three things; by definition, you are spamming the page. If you or the non-account IP you have been using insert the content again one more time, you are liable to blocked from editing by an administrator. In addition, please read WP:NPOV for more information.

It seems the article you wanted deleted has been deleted already. As for the (UK) one, "orphan" simply means that no other article on Wikipedia links to [Peter Hewitt (UK)]. To resolve this, add links to that article in appropriate articles, and remove the tag. If you can't find any appropriate articles to add links to, that's ok! just leave the tag, and someone will link the articles when an appropriate linking article is created.

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews

Hello Deadbeef. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

There are many Wikipedia policies, two of which you should familiarize yourself with: articles must be written in a neutral point of view, and Wikipedia is not for promotion. That said, let's look at your edits. Your two edits to Reginald F. Lewis High School are problematic, each for different reasons. In the first, you introduced decidedly non-neutral language, such as This new leadership team took office in August 2013 and have worked tirelessly to improve the Academic and Social Culture of the school. You then add flagrantly promotional language, Please take a moment to visit the school's web-site or the school to gain accurate and updated information about the school. You can certainly see how this violates the two policies. In your second edit, you remove valid and sourced information about an incident that occurred in the school. While this may not be a positive story for the school, it is neutrally and factually written, and is notable enough that its removal would be a non-neutral act. If you would like to write a more comprehensive history about the school you may, but your edits must conform to the two policies above, and all other Wikipedia policies (I've linked some more on your talk page.) Disagreement re constructiveness of my change to the page about Gluten-free diet

(I don't have a page of my own, so am writing this on your page, Deadbeef.)

It seems to me that my change to Gluten-free diet is very constructive. Many people are wrongly convinced that they need to eat grains for health, and it's not true--unless they eat the SAD (Standard American Diet), with very little in the way of plant foods. My change would help people understand more truth about human dietary needs.

In addition, Wikipedia is not a soapbox. I reverted your edits because they appear spammy, and decidedly against Wikipedia's neutral point of view foundation (please read those links).

Also, I don't understand why you indicate that you think my corrections constitute use of a soapbox. It seems to me that your misleading "information" is using Wikipedia as a soapbox.

Instead of just using derogatory single words, please explain the true substance of your objections to my giving people information that's more correct than the page as it stands.

And please, will you stop removing my corrections until and unless there's some agreement that your old-fashioned view is somehow correct.

Look: I only reverted one of your edits; each of your further edits was reverted by a different editor. The fact that four of us reverted your five edits should probably tell you that you are in the wrong here. The reason I reverted your first edit was you were talking in the article instead of in the talk page. That's it. Now, let me explain why each of your subsequent edits got reverted:

• This one: Same thing, talking in the article (we don't say information in the article should be taken with a "gran of salt" in the article.) Also the link you brought in violates Wikipedia's external links policy. This also appears very spammy: In fact, eating the Fuhrman way has great benefits for health. "Oh boy, where can I buy the book?" seems to be the response you're going for here. Decidedly non-neutral statement, and blatant advertisement.
• This one: Refactored sourced article content to make it opposite of what was said. There was a sourced statement in the article that Some people believe that there are health benefits to gluten-free eating for the general population, but there is no published experimental evidence to support such claims. You can't then change the statement to be opposite of what the source says; bring in a competing source if that's what you want. The next one is an extension of the first one; both were reverted.
• This one introduces contentious claims without a reference. Information in Wikipedia that might be challenged (like you are doing here) needs a source to back it up. Since you obviously have an agenda in this one, it is best for you to bring up your issues in the article's talk page and let a neutral person figure out how best to integrate it. There is agreement that my "old-fashioned view" (what?) is correct. Every link I've given you directs you to Wikipedia policy and guidelines. Those pages contain information that everyone has agreed to. If you're confused as to why I linked you to them, read the pages.

Hopefully this answers any questions you might have had about why you're being reverted—by four separate people including myself, I might add. Let me or the other editors who reverted you know if you disagree with it; the others are probably your better bet for your later edits. But again, if you have a problem with the article's content, bring it up on the talk page.

A blatant copyvio. Can you see who approved this article? I already have sock/meat concerns about the article creator, and two other account, STJMLCC and Viva La Resistonce. Ah, I've figured out how to do it. It was an unrelated editor, and he unreviewed it one minute after reviewing it. Anyways, I had the article speedied as a copyio since the author claimed not to be aware of the copyvio and couldn't be bothered to check the source and tag the article himself after I pointed out the copyvio.
