Hi, Just a message regarding your edits to G-Unit Records and G-Unit Records artists. Well I just wanted ot say that we only created the two separate articles recently. Before they were one article but after much disscussion we split them. I have removed the tags because the decisions was made that they should be two articles. Bombos

I removed the unnecessary speedy tag that the super keen bot had placed! Thanks for the thanks. I guessed that is what had happened with the Bombos page when I saw the edit history. This may actually be a bug in WP:TW - I attempted to WP:PROD the article, but while I was doing so, someone deleted it, when I saved my edit, it recreated it (if editing by hand it would've warned me that I was recreating a deleted page by saving)...need to figure out how to report bugs in TW. David - look, I'm no Wikipedia expert (nor fascist) but record labels like Hypnos and Dark Duck, while independent and small, have been around for over a decade and are damned important in the ambient music scene. So Stephen Phillips and Dark Duck records shouldn't be deleted - just because you haven't heard of him and his label doesn't mean that if you ask any drone/ambient music fan - well, 95% of them will know of Stephen and his label.

I hope're not implying I called you a facist. If I had done so, this would be a majorly wrong thing for me to have done (for obvious reasons)

Ditto with the other bands I added. Does being on a major label but being a piece of crap like "Poison" warrant them an entry but being on an indie label but putting out excellent music for over a decade each not warrant entries for "In The Now" and "Abstract Audio Systems"? Is it a popularity contest, or have to do with money?

My point wasn't that the artists/bands/labels weren't important/notable, but that the articles did not explain how they were notable.

If (assumg for a second that there wasn't already an article for them, which there of course is) I was to create an article saying "The Beatles were a four-piece band from liverpool. They are considered by many people to have been one of the best bands of all time", this would not explain notability in the article. This is obviously a very contrived example, but I hope it demonstrates what I mean.

An encyclopedia does not use such metrics as popularity but rather "importance", perhaps the most subjective thing ever, and I created those entries because they were long overdue. I'm trying to document collaborations all have done with the ambient band Austere, who is about as well-known as you get in the tiny little music genre known as "Enoqesque ambient", short of Robert Rich and Steve Roach, and I think that alone merits consideration.

Plus there's something you might not want to think is important, but it is: like trademark law, staking out a name in Wikipedia is mighty important. In fact, a recent discussion with an Intellectual Property Lawyer pal of mine indicated that trademark law, which must be defended at all times, would more or less require anyone who has a trademarked (or servicemarked) name or term to create an entry in Wikipedia lest it be used against them in court as a claim they were not properly defending their trademark. My lawyer pal made it clear that anything I owned a trademark on I'd better get listed in Wikipedia since it's perhaps the biggest public reference ever.

So, sorry if this comes across as harsh (I'm in a hurry) and if I didn't go about this the right way, but I've been contributing to Wikipedia in all the areas I know well, and that means covering all the ground, from Peter Christopherson to In The Now to the origins of ambient music. So I'm gonna remove the "nuke these" entries if they haven't been already, and when I get a chance, I'll flush out the entries to show why all of these bands (and label) I added have a long, important history that needs to be documented, just like I needed to make sure The Anchor in Buffalo did NOT get to claim to have invented the Buffalo Wing - it was always disputed by Duff's and the long-gone and missed Rudy's Pump Room. Until I came along, the Anchor was getting credit, when it's most likely Rudy's that "invented" them first (I'm still searching for an old menu as proof.)

I think I've come around to your way of thinking on this: only earlier today when I looked at special:shortpages did I realize how many of these there were -- and that's just the number generated in three days, since the previous bot run, roughly speaking. Thanks for teaching me about that tiny "+" button I never noticed before! I'll see if I can find the discussion about Stephen Phillips (musician) - he's run a record label for 20 years, has produced or collaborated on almost 100 releases over 25 years, runs the "famous in the ambient world" Drone Download Project, has a weekly radio gig on Stillstream radio, the best known, world-famous ambient/drone music net radio station, and has had his music released on some fairly well-known indie ambient labels like Gears of Sand, Blue Water Records, and Hypnos_(label).

The ambient genre isn't a huge one - even Steve Roach, possibly the biggest / best-known name in the genre, is lucky to sell 5K units of his CD releases, but within the community, Stephen is undoubtedly one of the most widely known names, and is definitely worthy of note. I'll try to find the convo you said you moved over, but I'm kind of a Wikipedia amateur - I'd like to learn more, but I work contract jobs and try to run three of my own businesses, and I'm an old computer fart (25 years of using them) so I just can't be bothered to try to become an expert on most things these days. Hope you can understand - back when I was your age, I had a lot more time and energy and interest - now I just wanna kinda get things done and that's that.
